BAG and BOARD !

BAG and BOARD Your Inexpensive Comic Book Collectibles !!!

It's the LEAST You Can Do!

No matter where you found the comics, if you bought them or if they were given to you, the very LEAST you can do is to protect them until it is time to either give them away or attempt to resell them!

There are multiple sellers on eBay that sell inexpensive plastic bags, made especially for comic books, so there really is no excuse not to!

The only thing is when buying the bags, is to buy the right size for the comics you are trying to bag!  Comics have 'shrunk' during the decades, so older comics from the Golden Age of Comics (from approx 1938 to 1950's) are put into bags that say 'Golden Age on the package!

Silver Age Comics, (from approximately mid 1950's to early 1970's), need a smaller size to fit properly, and the 'Modern Ages of Comics' including Bronze, Copper and whatever else 'age' they want to call them, have their own even smaller size!

Wait a minute!  Now that your comics are in a protective specially designed inexpensive bag, how are they going to fit nicely and keep from bending, when you put them into whatever storage container you are keeping them in?

Never fear, there are also comic backing boards, that are specially made for the comics. Just as bags are usually sold in 100 count packages, so are comic backing boards. You can check eBay's listings for those also, as we don't sell these type of supplies.

In an upcoming blog post I will go into more depth on what type of bags and boards to buy. This blog post is just to tell you that there are comic book collecting supplies to protect your comics until you are ready to sell. I see way too many sellers selling comics without protection!

If however, you decide NOT to sell your comics, and find that you have been bitten by the 'collecting bug' then check out our eBay Featured Comic Book Store and eBay Pro Store for more comic related collectibles!

1n_the_sun: Actually there are LP bags also available on eBay. I have the last of my record collection in those bags, as the album covers will start showing a LOT of wear if not protected! There should be dealers selling those also on eBay!

Remember, record collectors grade the album cover, the inner sleeve the LP is place in, AND the vinyl record itself!!

excellent post, I know this has happened to you dozens (more like hundreds) of times, someone wants to sell their collection, books you would LOVE to buy, but the books are beat to a pulp. had an older lady bring me in a run of Fan Four several years ago. issues 24-85, most of the issues were there, but most were in terible shape. #48 looked like it was used to swat flys. unstead of offering several thousand dollars, I gave her $95.00. her son was really upset, I tried to explain to him, books graded 2.0 or lower have very little collectablity. I ended up selling the lot for $155.00, minus issue #30, and #45 that I was able to sell. but even with very little protection, these books would have been worth 20 times what they were.

I relize that few comics from that time period were bagged, but man those could have been a great little investment. (although she made many times cover price) Dave
