Credit Given To
Don Heck
In The Iron Man Film!
Friday night Tina and I attended the May 2nd 2008 Iron Man Film Screening which we have blogged about with a review or two!
While we were waiting for the special scene after the credits were over, I pointed out to Tina that the four men that were responsible for the first issue of Tales of Suspense that Iron Man was introduced in were shown with a credit!
They were Stan Lee, Larry Lieber (Stan's brother), Jack Kirby and Don Heck!
I grew up in the Silver Age of Comics... where Dashin' Don Heck (as Stan called him), was a major artist on several of the Marvel comics features.
Unfortunately, Don just never achieved the fame that others in the Marvel Bullpen did, and after a long career in comics, he passed away on February 23rd 1995, years before most of the Marvel Superheroes he worked on saw their way to the Big Screen.
Don Heck penciled and inked many stories, or just pencilled or inked for Atlas, Marvel, DC, Harvey and other comics companies starting in 1949!
He was one of the co-founders of the Marvel Universe, although we just don't hear much about him! Matter of fact, just try to find a photo of him... almost as hard as finding one of Steve Ditko, another early Marvel Universe co-creator!
For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!
