Iron Man Movie - Our Take - Part 2 - A Woman's POV!

Our Take On The Iron Man Film

Part 2

Tina's Take!

(Note: We are reviewing the screening of this film separately - From a woman's POV and a comic book geek's POV. We will attempt from posting any spoilers!)

Last night Michael and Tina attended the May 2nd 2008 Iron Man Film Screening! Here are Tina's Thoughts:

"Two Thumbs Up - Both of mine" says Tina!

I love a good origin movie (think Spider-Man 1 and Batman Begins, as opposed to The Incredible Hulk.)

And, this is a good origin movie.  The character development was involving and entertaining.

Robert Downey Jr is spot-on as the snarky playboy.  It's a dream cast of Academy Award winner and nominees.

The story is well played.  We walked away feeling that we saw a movie - an action movie - not a "comic book" movie.

For me, the casting of Terrence Howard seemed a little off - who knew Rhodey was a metrosexual - but Howard does a fine job.

Favorite scene: when Iron Man fires up in the red and gold for the first time - it's exhilarating.

Favorite movie moment: Stan Lee's cameo - watch for him on the red carpet at Stark Industries' charity event.

Best line: the last line of the movie. (I won't ruin it for you.)

One final note: The picture is rated PG-13. I would strongly caution parents to leave the young ones home.  While much of the violence is off-screen.  You know people are being killed; you don't see them dying.  However, there are two rather disturbing torture scenes - definitely not suitable for young ones.

Overall, I enjoyed it! Tell us what you think if you have seen it!

For those of you that are new to our blog, we have an ongoing comics and pop culture convention here at Make It So Marketing, what with our daily blog posts and listings of items for sale!

Thanks for the review. My 16 year old son wants to go see it tonight while big sis is at her senior prom. I think based on your review, we'll make it a date. Just me and the boy.

The only comic books I like when I was young was Archie & Jughead. But I love the comic book movies. Any excuse for eating popcorn. lol ☺

kaioh: Tina is very cool... at least that is what all the husbands and boyfriends standing in line at comic book conventions say! They wish their wives or girlfriends would come with them!

She tells them she's there to help find comics for resale,
see the panels/programs on upcoming movies & tv shows,
and spends all 4 days and 4 nights at the San Diego Comic Con from
before opening time to after closing time...

Most men are floored that she attends as many cons as she does!

Gee.... I guess I am lucky!!! (LOL)

beyond: Did you know that Archie Comics had a new style of comics?
A more realistic instead of cartoony version of Archie??

I think Veronica, Betty and Archie are why I usually like 'love triangles' on
tv shows, ie. 'Ugly Betty', 'Chuck' etc.

And yeah, there can be toooo much popcorn in conjunction with the rest of the
stuff I ate last nite... LOL!

from the TV days.... probably why he has a 'lead foot' in all the supercharged cars he's bought over the years!

He was also surprised that Speed racer is coming back as a film,
actually starts next weekend!

Hubby is into body building and selling insurance & investments. He's a broker. lol. (i.e., very boring stuff to me)

That's another one I want to see! Can't wait to see what they do with it.
You know I'm an anime fan, so of course I wanna see that.

No I didn't know that. I haven't looked at a comic book in eons. I tend to steer away from them at sales. There seems to much to learn to be able to sell them.
I have picked up a few that turned out to be losers, so their stuck in a drawer cause I can't seem to throw anything away. Maybe they'll be worth a million some year....lol

I'll take your leftover popcorn. No butter please.

kaioh: I'm an accountant by trade myself... so I enjoy numbers and stats.

Tina, who is into marketing, couldn't believe she married a 'bean counter',
as she always used to fight with the accounting departments!

Speedracer is actually looking pretty good via the teaser trailers!

beyond: With new comic books coming in at $2.99 a pop, it is hard to keep track of all of them! Which is why we specialize in older comics!

It is harder to list comics or any collectibles, as each comic is usually a different grade, which means a new photo each time, unless you deal in new comics which even then aren't always NM (near mint)!

Popcorn..... gotta get some breakfast soon, just on 2nd cup of 'coughfee' as Tina says when she uses her NY accent!
