The Hulk Movie Doesn't Look Incredible for Women

The Hulk  Movie

 Doesn't Look Incredible for Women

Unlike Marvel's popular film Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk movie which opens June 13th doesn't look like it will be a hit with the female movie audience -- if this female's reaction is any indication.

After suffering through Ang Lee's version - Michael and I were still practically newlyweds so I agreed to see it - my interest in seeing another on-screen Hulk  was pretty slim.  In fact, I'd already told Michael, "No way!"  After seeing the trailer I've become even more adamant.

Granted Bruce Banner isn't Tony Stark; he doesn't have the looks, the charm or the dough - but The Hulk?  Nerdy scientist turns into enormous raging green monster - I don't think so.  The only reason why the character lasted on television was the casting of Bill Bixby plain and simple.

When I saw Edward Norton was cast in this remake, I thought very interesting...very good actor.  But, frankly I've been fooled before (Ang Lee, very interesting...very good director - and we all know how that turned out.)  While I think it's fantastic that such incredible talent is coming to "Comic Book" movies (Norton, Lee, Downey, Terrence Howard, I could go on and on) it only amplifies the true nature of the comic character.  Example: Ioan Gruffud as Reed Richards - man that guy bugs me!

I wondered about the casting of Tim Roth, which pretty much telegraphs to the audience: "Villian - sick and twisted version."  After seeing the clips featuring The Abomination, I sure don't want to be subjected to extended scenes featuring that monstrosity. (I'm still having flashbacks of those disgusting dogs from the first movie.)

So, I think it's a fair bet the ladies are going to stay away.

Note to guys: take your lady to see Iron Man.  If you don't know it, women have a thing for Robert Downey, Jr. and they'll love that Gwyneth Paltrow's in it.  Iron Man is your super hero date movie of the summer.  You can check out Hulk  with your buddies.  And in the meantime, we just listed a bunch of Hulk  in our store.  Oh, and some of the She-Hulk - now that's a gal who could handle watching a Hulk movie.  Check 'em out here!

I still think it's going to be better than Ang Lee's.

They could use a stronger actress than Liv Tyler though, she a lightweight.
They should've used Vera Farmiga.

Hi Tina, nice to read a post from Michaels other half! :~) I haven't seen any of the previews on this yet, I always loved Bill Bixby as Hulk, he really pulled it off, this one seems to have some good casting... love liv tyler and Wm. Hurt, not familiar with otheres right off top of my head. Have an awesome day, both of you! ☺♥ Audi

I agree with Rockon

A lot of the Hulk is how Banner is portrayed, Eric Bana just wasn't right.

BTW Vera Farmiga is the lone female lead in "The Departed" the fact she held her own with all those heavyweights shows she'd have been right for this, and if you've heard of "Running Scared" she had a pivitol scene in which audiences loudly cheered, so I think she'd have been a match for Gwyneth Paltrow, character.

enpointonian, Will forward this on to Tina for her review.

I'll ask her about Vera Farmiga.

Meanwhile I'm going to google her!
