What to Buy for Christmas for a Comic Books Geek ?? Here's One Possibility

It is really hard to buy a Christmas present for a Comic Book Geek or Collector !

Too often what you think he/she would like they already have.... or in a different format.

Today, publishers print a lot of trade paperbacks that combine previous comic book issues that the collector may already have.

I personally don't like trade paperbacks, because if I like the title, I probably already have the single comic book issues that are collected in the trade paperback.

Graphic Novels are not the format I normally like my comics in, but then again I am a 'little' older now, then when I started reading comics in the late 1950's.

However one item that I always love reading is a subscription to a magazine about comics.

One in particular is CBG, (Comics Buyer's Guide), which went from newspaper format to magazine format a couple of years ago.

Besides being able to read it more easily in magazine format, it is also easier to store for ready reference.

The magazine talks about the old days, as well as having articles on current features.

The following is a blurb about the current issue #1625:

The Justice Society of America has regrouped at DC and Comics Buyer's Guide #1625 features an exclusive original Justice Society of America cover by Mark Sparacio.

After reading about the relaunch of DC's original super-team including an interview with writer Geoff Johns, take Captain Comics' JSA quiz.

Then, revel with The Captain and his 15 minutes with comics legend Stan Lee!

And, it's nearly Thanksgiving, so Mr. Silver Age presents his annual Mopee Awards to more comics turkeys of the Silver Age.

John Jackson Miller has compiled a decade of comics sales figures and analyzes how the industry has changed from "Heroes Reborn" to "Civil War."

Finally, Peter David looks at exactly what makes a hero heroic.

All this and more, plus the largest and most complete monthly price guide in comics.

I would give this ongoing magazine an 'A', and would recommend giving it in subscription form as a great gift for your comic book friends! And no, we don't sell subscriptions to this great mag!

Additional blog posts will contain more thoughts on great items for Christmas in the upcoming days!
