Other coins that I collect.Posted Jul-20-08 18:11:54 PDT Now that the retirement coin of the USS Kitty Hawk is now in my display case, it is time to continue the pursuit of other coins. Not only do I collect challenge coins, but I also collect bronze medals, medallions. They range in size from 1.5inches in diameter to as big as 3in diameter medals. Some of the companies that makes this type is Medallic Art, Medalcraft Mint, US Mint, just to name a few. Medallic is one of the best well known and one of the oldest mints that produces bronze coins or medals. These medals celebrate special occassions such as presidential inaugurations, great achievements in space exploration, scientific discovery, or medicine discovery and simple art. A lot of the coins I have from Medallic Art commemorate JFK, Salvation Army, the commissioning of the USS Enterprise, the worlds first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, celebrations and milestones for several states in America. They are, in fact, true pieces of art. I just won four medals/coins made by Medallic Art that celebrate the bicentennial in the state of Indiana. They will be arriving by the end of this week. I am also watching several other coins. Now again, I may never become rich with my collection, but it is the pure enjoyment of the hobby, just like collecting comic books, stamps, collectible toys, ceramic plates and other hobbies that other folks have. My collection caused enough interest that it was featured in our local paper and that was a true honor. I am always on the lookout for bronze medals, challenge coins. If you have any, dont hesitate to drop me an email. The email address is meeker21276@yahoo.com. Stay safe and have a great week. |
