A Skin Care Fact:  The ancient Egyptians were the first to use skin care, and used it not only for their daily routines, but also in religious ceremonies and burial rites.  Even Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt, was known to enjoy an occasional milk bath.  Today if you visited my Salon in Crofton, Maryland, I wouldn't treat your skin with a milk bath, but I could give you a chemical peel of lactic acid, which in essence, is what Cleopatra was doing when she relaxed in her tub of milk!

Why are peels important in keeping your skin looking young?  Let me tell you about CRF ("Cell Renewal Factor").  This is what keeps skin cells from building up on your body.  As skin cells develop and push their way to the top of your skin, old skin cells on the top die and fall off.  Did you know that a majority of dust in our homes is from our dead skin!  As we age, our CRF slows down dramatically, from a child who has a CRF of approximately 20 days, to someone 50 or older whose CRF can take as long as 80 plus days.  This is why older skin appears dull and flakey.  When you get a chemical peel, you are in fact speeding up your CRF, by forcing the dead skin cells off your skin, and promoting new skin cell growth underneath.  This is why your face glows and appears younger after having a peel.
