Archive - October 2006 Firefox 2.0 so far, so great...Posted Oct-25-06 22:37:24 PDT Updated Dec-22-06 23:56:28 PST So I finally got around to downloading the final version of Firefox 2.0 which was announced just yesterday. So far so good. Most of my favorite extensions work just fine, or are made obsolete by Firefox 2.0 which includestheir functionality natively. Below I've provided a table of some of my favorite Firefox extensions and their compatibility with 2.0. The only two things that I did not like so far were easily solved:
To be safe, I completely uninstalled Firefox 1.x before installing 2.0. I don't know if this is necessary, but I thought it might be prudent to start with a clean slate. So far, I'm very happy with the new Firefox release. My Favorite Firefox extensions
If you haven't tried Firefox yet, you owe it to yourself to try it. Update: I should have made two things more clear. First, I probably use more extensions that most users so the fact that some of these aren't available yet isn't a sign that Firefox 2.0 is unstable. In fact, far from it, so far it seems very robust. Second, it is not surprising that there are extensions that have not been updated yet. Firefox was only officially complete yesterday. Over the next weeks, many extension developers will no doubt be updating their extensions. Unless there is an extension you can't live without, I recommend upgrading from whatever browser you are using now, to Firefox 2.0. Whatever you do, write about it on eBay Blogs!
