10 Ways to Fix the Energy Crisis
Mimialist Group
Since the oil embargo of the 70s, politicians have been pulling our collective leg telling us repeatedly, they’ll do something about it. Well the White Father still speaks with a forked tongue.
Instead of gearing up the necessary resources like they did with the Manhattan Project during WWII where billions were spent to develop the atomic bomb, our government insists on squandering our resources and they’d rather feed the Arab oil world while making our national security more vulnerable.
Here are 10 immediate steps our government could be taking to ease fuel prices.
- Stop all Saturday mail delivery. The government is the largest consumer of gasoline and this would save a ton of fuel each month.
- Make it mandatory that cities begin timing their traffic signals for better flow as stop n go driving wastes fuel.
- Offer substantial tax incentives and outright grants for builders to create homes and commercial buildings with solar panels, wind turbines, etc.
- Expand our national railway system to be more like Europe. We have thousands of miles of unused track and Amtrak is successful on the East Coast.
- Place solar panels along all of the unused portions of the nation’s highways. The government already owns the land; make productive use of it.
- Instead of squandering billions each month on foreign military adventures, spend that money on a national research program to develop and perfect alternative energy sources.
- Place a short term moratorium on the fuel tax and/or release some of our oil reserves to depress fuel prices at the pump and help the economy and to keep food and other prices at reasonable rates.
- We have millions of metric tons of coal in this country. Hitler managed to fuel his army from coal and we can do the same. At $100+ a barrel for commercial crude, this is now become viable.
- The government should offer auto makers huge incentives for creating affordable, fuel-efficient cars.
- Strongly encourage recycling, especially among government agencies. Example: stop using plastic bags at the grocery store.
As I always say, the government is not looking out for its population. We don’t need another election. We need another revolution.
