Ain't it funny that a Fly Rod grandpa bought for $39.95 is now worth several times that?

Is it not funny that smelly old lures, hand carved by half blind fishermen hell bent on making a living from their favorite vice, are now worth what Motorcycles are?

Well, that's "nostalgia" for you.

Give me a good boron rod any day when it matters, but give me the beautiful "glass" rod Grandpa bought for Grandma so long ago to fish my favorite stream.

But to show up on Hat Creek or Fall River or the Madison or Battenkill with a 40 year old glass rod, well, one might be SHOT! (Or at least whip finished to a tree!)

But show up with a 75 year old bamboo rod, 3 times the weight, totally vulnerable, which might actually snap on a big fish— and people get out of your way!

I have never figgered this out so stick to my dyn-o-mite lure which seems to work every time.

That's surplus C40 for you dunderheads not familiar with "dyno-fishin"... AWWWW JUST KIDDING! (My imagination excepted)
