That's the same amount of energy that fuels 100,000 cars or 250,000 homes each year. Not only does the production of petroleum-based plastics use precious natural resources, but the disposal of them also causes environmental degradation. Of the 30 billion plastic water bottles sold in the U.S. in 2005, only 12 percent were recycled. That means 25 billion bottles are clogging our landfills and working their way to our oceans. Purchase a PUR or Brita H20 water filter and reuse bottles or buy a sports bottle. |
