"Hooked on Ebay"

Yes there has been talk of an ethics code lately..... Honesty will be at the top of the list i am sure

No kidding!! Ebay needs to be RESPONSIBLE for the THIEVES & LIARS that sell fake merchandise and lie about the condition of what is being sold!!

Unfortunately you get this in other places as well! Have any of you been to a local antique auction lately???? I can not tell you the number of times that I have set in an auction and seen reproduction pieces being alluded to as originals. Error on the auction houses side? Who knows. I have been a member of Ebay for over 6 years and have learned one thing...ask lots of questions if you are in doubt of something. If a seller doesn't show me the exact condition of a piece such as a crack or a chip in glass, I ask for a photo and a better description of the condition. If I don't hear from them, I DO NOT BID! If you are bidding on an item such as a designer purse and it's being sold as an original if you receive it and it's a fake contact the seller IMMEDIATELY! Honest sellers will do a refund if it is an error on their part. If no refund is offered REPORT the seller to Paypal or Ebay. Lastly use common sense. If I see a $2000.00 Galle vase being offered on ebay for $24.95 I don't even need to go inside the screen and look at the auction. It is a FAKE! As an Ebay PowerSeller I will say that I go over all of my items with a fine toothed comb. In 6 years I have missed 1 item with a condition issue and cheerfully did an immediate refund to the buyer. However, I will also say that in that time I have had a couple of buyers try to be less than honest in my dealings so it goes both ways. I once had an Ebayer try to return an item to me which wasn't the item that I sent to them! They had boughten a rather expensive vase from me and when it was received they claimed that it had chips to the inside rim. I agreed to take the item back and when I received it I noticed that on the bottom of the vase it had writting on it in permanent marker. My vase did not have any marks to the bottom. Since alot of my items are from my personal use, I had sold a famous name brand sweater that I had received as a gift. She had insinuated that it was fake. Even tho it WAS NOT fake, what would have happened it if was??. I stressed to her that I was not a seller for this brand.. only sell from my closet. The sweater was a gift to me. But what concerns me is that I, as a seller, doesnt know if something is fake, and its sold to someone who finds it being a fake, what happens then?
