Color Description

Another way to boost your sales is to choose words to describe your colors that go beyond the bland red, orange, yellow, blue, and prints.  Describe colors vividly!  Some examples might include:

  • Ralph Lauren Red
  • Burnt Orange
  • Mottled Green
  • Sky-Blue Turquoise
  • The color of a chocolate milkshake
Try it!  I know you'll be pleasantly surprised.

What CONDITION is your listed item?

It's confusing.  Sometimes it's misleading.  Frequently it isn't mentioned at all - the condition of the item you're selling, that is.  I'd like to offer the table below as a good starting place.

  • Mint in box - brand new
  • Excellent to perfect condition
  • Very good to excellent condition
  • Good to very good condition
  • Okay to good condition
  • Poor to okay condition
  • As is to okey condition
Sometimes it's helpful to add 'with slight wear,' or 'with the usual slight estate wear.'  If the item is china or pottery that chips easily (such as Franciscan or Majolica), you could say 'There are some edge dings, as is very common with this type of pottery.'

Remember:  Always describe condition as best you can, and always be honest!  This goes a long way to ensure happy, repeat customers.
