Guide For Setting Up A Magickal Altar
These are my personal views, others may vary.
This Altar can be used for All Spiritual & Magickal Work.
First let me say that your table has to feel right to you. It can be any size or shape that you feel comfortable with. As Big or Small as you are comfortable with.
It can be simple or elaborite.
I am Using a Solid Pine Colonial Style Coffee Table at this time.
It gives me a lot of room, but doesn't take up a lot of space.
I prefer to set mine up with 2 White Altar Candles.
I like to anoint them with Sandalwood oil. The 1 on the left represents Goddess. The 1 on the right Represents God.
I like an Altar Pentacle of some sort on or near the table. The one I use, I made from craft sticks & seashells I picked up
from the beach. I made this about 20 years ago & it still works fine.
Tools do not have to cost a lot of money.
You can utilize items from yard sales & thrift Shops, or make them yourself.
I like my Cauldron or Censer in the Middle of my Altar Work Space.
I like my bell to the left & athame' & snuffer to the right.
On the Left Side Which Represents The Goddess, I place a container of Wiccan Holy Water.
You can use Spring water ,with a pinch of seasalt added,
or Ocean Water. These must be Blessed.
On the Right Side which represents God, I place a container of Sea Salt , or Natural Beach Sand . I also place Seashells as an Offering to my Lady. I also place Stones & Crystals as an offering to my Lord. I have all types of Quartz, Holed Stones, Coral, as well as other items of Power.
Your Altar is personal. It is an extension of you. Go with your gut feelings & go with the flow of what you like & feels right to you. This may change off and on. I keep certain things the same , others I change quite frequently.
I decorate mine with Crystal & Amethyst Balls, All kinds of Assorted Stones, Crystals, and good finds from the beach.
How you decorate is up to you.
You can use a, Altar Cloth or not-this is also up to you.
There are a few things that really need to be on your table-
Water, Salt or Sand and your Altar Candles.
The colors of Altar Candles are also up to you. I use white, some people use 1 white & 1 black, some use 1 silver & 1 gold. I like 1 Silver & 1 Gold at certain celebrations.
Remember this is your Personal Sacred Space.
Do what you feel is right for you. Your space should be
smudged or cleansed. You can do this with white sage
or frankencense. I use either, sometimes both.
I like to burn either one before I do any Ritual or
Psychic Work.
Here are a few of my different lay outs--
