What is a Wiccan Witch?

( The Following Is My Own Personal Oppinion & Views )

I consider myself a Wiccan Witch. I follow the Path of The Wiccan Religion. I also practice Witchcraft ,Spell Casting or Magick.

Some Wiccans do not practice Magick & Some Witches are not Wiccan.

What Exactly is Wicca ?

Wicca is a Nature Based Religion, Of Pagan Origin. Some say it is a New Religion, Some say it is an Ancient Religion.

I am with those who say it is an Ancient Religion, even though it was not called Wicca, until A few years back. Until Then, it was a belief system, a way of life & was not known by any special name.

The 13 Wiccan Principles

The following set of thirteen principles was
adopted by the Council of American Witches, in April, 1974.

1: We practice rites to attune ourselves with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the Moon and the seasonal Quarters and Cross Quarters.

2: We recognize that our intelligence gives us a unique responsibility toward our environment.
We seek to live in harmony with Nature, in ecological balance offering fulfillment and consciousness within an evolutionary concept.

3: We acknowledge a depth of power far greater than that apparent to the average person.
Because it is far greater than ordinary it is sometimes called supernatural, but we see it as lying within that which is naturally potential to all.

4: We conceive of the Creative Power in the universe as manifesting through polarity ~as masculine and feminine~ and that this same Creative Power lies in all people, and functions through the interaction of the masculine and feminine. We value neither above the other, knowing each to be supportive to each other. We value sex as pleasure, as the symbol and embodiment of life, and as one of the sources of energies used in magickal practice and religious worship.

5: We recognize both outer worlds and inner, or psychological, worlds sometimes known as the Spiritual World, the Collective Unconscious, Inner Planes, etc. ~and we see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal
phenomena and magickal exercises. We neglect neither dimension for the other, seeing both as necessary for our fulfillment.

6: We do not recognize any authoritarian hierarchy, but do honor those who teach, respect those who share their greater knowledge and wisdom, and acknowledge those who have courageously given of themselves in leadership.

7: We see religion, magick, and wisdom in living as being united in the way one views the world and lives within it ~a world view and philosophy of life which we identify as Witchcraft~ The Wiccan Way.

8: Calling oneself "Witch" does not make a Witch, but neither does heredity itself, not the collecting of titles, degrees, and initiations. A Witch seeks to control the forces within her/himself that make  life possible in order to live wisely and well without harm to others and in harmony with Nature.

9: We believe in the affirmation and fulfillment of life in a continuation of evolution and development of consciousness giving meaning to the Universe we know and our
 personal role within it.

10: Our only animosity towards Christianity, or towards any other religion or philosophy of life, is to the extent that its institutions have claimed to be "the only way", and have sought to deny freedom to others and to suppress other ways of religious practice
and belief.

11: As American {Or World-Wide!} Witches, we are not threatened by debates on the history of the Craft, the origins of various terms, the legitimacy of various aspects of different traditions. We are concerned with our present and our future.

12: We do not accept the concept of absolute evil, nor do we worship any entity known as Satan or the Devil, as defined by the Christian tradition.
We do not seek power through the sufferings of others, nor accept that personal benefit can be derived only by denial to another.

13: We believe that we should seek within Nature that which is contributory to our health and well-being.

For myself this has been my lifestyle since I was a child. My Children were also raised as Wiccan Witches & My grandchildren are as well.

We honor the Goddess / God.

We practice Magick as a way to make positive changes for ourselves , others  &  the environment. We respect the Earth.

We celebrate The Full Moon- These Celebrations are  known as  Esbats.

We Celebrate our Sabbats, or The  Wheel Of The Year.

Some of Our Celebrations are Similar to  The Christian Holidays. Some of these Holidays were adopted from Old Pagan Customs. For Instance- Easter and Ostrara or Christmas and Yule, as examples.

I am Eclectic, I am Solitary , and I am Proud of Who I am & What I stand For.

Witchcraft

As a Witch ,I use My Personal Energies  & Power, along side the Natural Energies of Stones, Crystals, Herbs, Colors, Elements, Planets, Days Of The Week, whatever enhances the Magick, or Spell casting.

Magick is Natural. Neither Black or White, Not even gray.

It becomes Black, Negative or White Positve Or Gray -Neutral, by the way it is used.

The Magick I practice is a combination of many different types combined. I like to call it Folk Magick, or Sympathy Magick.

I am known as a Sea Witch, or Green Witch, as I incorporate both of these Magicks in my Spells.

I consider myself , A Natural Witch.

When practicing Magick, I stay within my Wiccan Guidelines- Harm None!!

I do not cast Negative Spells. This will only come back to you , through your Karma. If not this life time, it could be the next.  Who needs that?

Some disagree with this. They feel revenge is fine. I do not.

I do believe in Protecting yourself or Sending Negative Energy back to someone if they send it to me with intent.

As a Witch, I do not claim 100% accuracy. I know there are some who do, but I take issue with this, as No-One is ever 100% dead on.

I am a Natural Witch, Not a Stage Witch.

There are  many , what I like to call Stage Witches. Dramatic, Flashy, & Highly Expensive. This does not mean that their Magick is True, or Strong for that matter. It means they know how to stage the effects to make it look more like Fantasy.

I like to call these the Charmed Witches.

A True Practitioner,  is usually more straight forward. Low Key. Some are very Ritual Oriented , some more like myself, Natural , some of us are Ceremonial, but most True Witches are not like Charmed, Harry Potter or Disney.

We are real, we do exist, we are just ordinary people who know how to tap into our Energy resources, and the resources Nature has provided. This is not a new thing & has been going on since the beginning of time.

A True Wiccan Witch is always ready to help someone in need , if at all possible. They are not as concerned with the amount of money they will receive & do not usually make up Fantasy Stories to make themselves all powerful.

Some are not even really Witches , but like to pretend. it is a game to some people. Look At Me- I am A Witch-Aren't you scared or impressed or whatever.

Some have found this to be a great way to make a lot of money, and this has gone on for Centuries.

Let me just say that the more you pay for a Spell , does not make it work any better or faster. It is not the price , it is The Magick, The Energies, the Knowledge, & the Sincerity that count.

 Wiccan Witches Are Naturally Powerful.

Some Of Us Do Wear Ritual Jewelry, Robes, Capes Etc. Some Go SkyClad ( Nude ), Some of us wear every day clothes, even during Ritual. This is a personal choice.

Wicca is all about personal choice & Free will.

I proudly wear my Pentacles. I have a Special Cape I like For Celebrations and Ritual Work. I consider these part of who I am. I am a Proud Wiccan Witch. I am Proud to be Pagan.

Unfortunately, for as many True Wiccan Witches there are, there are just as many that are in it for The show & The Money.

If you would like to really know more about Wicca, I suggest Reading All Of Scott Cunninghams Books. He was a wonderful man & a great Teacher, Author. He writes so you can  understand.

There are many good books out there, some are not as good.

Here is a good list of Books you can start with.

Diary Of A Witch- Sybil Leek

Anything by Scott Cunningham

The Encyclopedia Of Witches & Witchcraft-Rosemary Ellen Guiley

Entering The Summerland-Edain McCoy

Magical Rites From The Crystal Well- Ed Fitch

Moon Magic - D J Conway

Wicca: A Comprehensive Guide To The Old Religion-Vivian Crowley

Drawing Down The Moon- Margot Adler

The Wicca Handbook-Eileen Holland

Wheel Of The Year-Living The Magical Life- Pauline Campanelli

The Spiral Dance- Starhawk

The Grandmother of Time:

A Woman's book of Celebrations,Spells & Sacred Objects for every month of the year-Zsuzanna E Budapest

Some of these are old and may not be easy to find.

there are many more but this is a good start.

My best advice to you when choosing to have Spell work done or buy a Spell cast item, Go with your gut. Choose the person you feel drawn to, connected to. You need to trust the person working for you.

I have met and counseled with many Wiccan, and perfect love and perfect trust are the furthest from the truth. I don't knock what you believe since it is your choice to believe that way.

I will tell you this much. There is only one "I am", and that power is far greater than you will ever be. In fact to even compare yourself to the great "I am" is truly demeaning and harmful to yourself.

You are created, not the creator, you don't control the rising of the sun nor the setting off the same.

Repent now and come to know your creator, for there you will find true divine love.

Blessings to you all,
I doubt you were involved with True Wiccans. Many use the term quite loosely. I have been a Practicing Wiccan most of my life, before it was so well known, before Charmed & Harry Potter. I happen to be a very Mature , open minded woman. I come from a background of many Religions including Southern Baptist, Catholic, Methodest to name a couple. Pilgrim Holiness for another, as well as Wicca. My family believes Freedom Of Religious choice. I practice what I speak.
I never claimed to be the creator.I found the Graphic & I personally like it, I am sorry if it offends some of you.
We all have a part of Goddess / God in us, or as you all are Christians, God inside you. We all come from the same place & are all going back to the same place some day. We all have different roads or paths to choose to get there. There is no one True Religion. And I certainly do not need to repent, as I live a good clean & wholesome life. I honor my Deity to the Fullest & do no harm to anyone.
I do not judge or knock others for their beliefs. Can You Say The Same ??
Blessed Be.

I must say: Thank You for your posting, Myrtlelyn. I found it very useful. I am a Christian; I am learning Wicca; I am beyond non-traditional. For those "Christians" that judge: do you forget what the Bible teaches--"do not judge, lest ye be judged." My very first church was Methodist, then I went to a non-denominational church. Since then, I have studied a lot and will continue this because it is so important that we (as people) learn something about everything we can. I believe that this is a good way to open our minds. I do agree with you that there is no one "true religion." I see religion as it is--man made. We all know what man can do. I believe in spirituality. I believe in a lot of things that should contradict one another, but when one sees things beyond surface level vision and has an understanding through true learning--they don't contradict one another--they are linked. Yes, they have differences, but they do overlap. Can any one person say they know the whole truth? No, not one. As a Christian, I believe in God as the highest power. However, who says they know how God made things happen? If magick was all bad, then what do you call the miracles Jesus performed? God made the Garden of Eden and nature all around for our consumption and use. Who is not to say that the "pagan gods/goddesses" were the nephiliums (half angel/half human)? This would explain how they have powers wouldn't it. As in the movie Matrix, Morpheus said to Neo: "FREE YOUR MIND!" As for religions, I believe that every one has truth and deceptions in it. For those who posted harsh and judgmental things to Myrtlelyn, you can not claim yourselves as a Christian! You should all be ashamed of and repent yourselves so you may find mercy with God! Myrtlelyn, I send my apologies to you for what those claiming to be Christians said. Please keep in mind that true Christians would not have said that to you. May many blessings and honors fall with you. Blessed be.
