eBay Neighborhoods

New Neighborhoods are live!

We've just added the first round of new neighborhoods - and all of you Fruit Helmet fanatics out there will be very happy.

This is the first of two batches of new neighborhoods we'll be adding in the next few days. It will take a few days for them to show up in the search (both search for a neighborhood and in the search results for items).

Question for ya !!!

Why does ebay spend so much time and money on the issues that don't matter. Such as these neighborhood blogs???

Rather than deal with the important issues of the site. The reason people are really here for.

Buying and selling. Making sure it's a safe place for people to buy and sell and to remove the scammers that are both buyers and sellers.

Why don't they address the issues of the selling violations. Posting items for sale in the wrong catagory. Dealing with the issues of the sellers who jack up the shipping costs in order to lower the selling price so they don't have to pay as much in sellers fee's. Those that are offer choices between items so they can avoid sellers fee's. Those that are creating new ID's so they can control the bid somewhat and raise the bid wrongly.

Dealing with all the other issues with the site, when a seller has problems with their listings not showing up for maybe 24 hours or longer. Or pictures not showing up. Especially the gallery pictures? That sellers pay good money for I might add.

And feedback issues........ I won't even go there or i would be here for days on end.... talking on that subject alone!!!

I could go on and on about the problems with ebay, and it's funny how they never deal with those issues. Instead they launch a new program or idea that just throws more bugs into the system.

I really wish I could spend one day with the head of ebay to express my concerns as both a buyer and a seller on ebay. And to stress the importance of fixing the problems with the site rather than staring new things that really having no meaning or purpose other than entertainment!

Just a concerned eBayer......

Oh and just another small issue with the glitches here on ebay.

ever since the blogs were attacked by the code monster, things have been screwy around here.

I've been blogging since the blogs began, yep started the second day they started.

However after the code monster struck, I have no longer been able to view or use my blog here under this ID.

See for yourself you get an error message. I've tried to contact ebay about it through the help pages with no luck. I get a song and a dance and the run around. But it never gets fixed.

HOWEVER...... I do have another ebay ID for my buying, and i do have a blog under that ID as well, and I can access that blog, but not my iiapco blog....

Please tell me the answer to that riddle.......

Unknown, eBay seems pretty blind to keeping their core business easily usable.

WHAT ABOUT THE LGBT FOLKS?

I keep trying to suggest an LGBT neighborhood, but it's not working. Here's a concern I wrote recently in my personal blog.

A fellow eBayer was kind enough to point out to me that there was a Community Group called Gayborhood that I was very thankful to join. I am happy that there are community groups to join, but like so many other things, they are not the mainstream "neighborhoods" that you can post to your "eBay My World" - a public self-expression. Until our LGBT community groups are turned into neighborhoods, they will be kept hidden.

So given the 1 in 10 rule, I would imagine there are enough people to make up an LGBT neighborhood. They definitely can't use the excuse that there aren't enough people out there, given one of the recent editions is a group of people that make helmets for their pets out of fruit. I'm not kidding - check it out http://neighborhoods.ebay.com/fruit-helmets.

So here's something else that's unfortunate about tags (aka labels). I typed in the following terms in the neighborhood search: lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans. Each one came up with 0 results and 0 suggested alternative words except for trans. It had several suggestions. One of them was transgender, which made sense, then I followed through a couple more levels - here is where they went: trans - transgender - sissy - vinyl pants - finally, the audiophiles neighborhood. So if you're LGB - your tag will lead you nowhere, but for the T's, have no fear, there is a neighborhood full of people who are willing to spend absurd amounts of money on speakers because they can truly discern the difference between uber quality and good quality sound.

So any supporters of bringing an LGBT neighborhood to the mainstream, please join me, and blog on to the neighborhood suggestion site!
