Drop Dead Gorgeous!

Reasons to knit our Drop Dead Gorgeous Shawl:

  • to add pizzazz to an outfit
  • as a quick hostess gift
  • make it today, wear it out tonight
  • only requires one ball (about 150 yards), check out yarns for this project in our eBay store:  NobleKnits

How to knit the Drop Dead Gorgeous Shawl

  1. Requires: 1 Skein Prism Stuff, US 15 needles 14" or circular
  2. Cast on 3 sts.
  3. Knitting every row, increase 1 st at the beginning of every row until you have 50 sts on the needle.
  4. Knitting every row, increase at the beginning and end of every row until only a few yards of yarn remain.
  5. Bind off as loosely as possible.

To felt or not to felt, that is the question!

If you haven't heard of "felting" before, it is the process of shrinking or "fulling" wool to create a very stiff, taught fabric...remember those old boiled wool jackets Grandma used to wear?  Felted.

Ever shrink a wool sweater by accident?  Felted.  The only difference is, we are going to felt...intentionally!

If you've tried your hand at scarves, felting just may be a great "next" project for you.  Try a felted bag pattern, we carry some from Noni and they are adorable!  Usually, an item is knit on a larger needle, then thrown in the wash and felted.  Heat and agitation cause the wool to tighten and shrink.

Reasons to choose felting:

  1. Fast, since it's worked on larger needles.
  2. Forgiving, if you have a slight knitting mishap here or there - mistakes will be melted away.
  3. Fun.  Felting is an art, not a science.  Each project you create will be a bit different.

Happy Felting!

April is Offical Hand Dyed Yarn Month

Ok, it's not really "Officially" Hand Dyed Yarn Month, but it is my birthday month.  This year it's a big one _0, so why not celebrate all month.  Juvenile, yes, but I like to celebrate my "half birthday" too.  I digress...anyway, nothing says spring more than a hand dyed ribbon yarn in a bright color.  We've got lots of them in stock and in the auction.

If you happen to pick up some of the Judy & Co.  Luminesse or Dazzle, try this quick and easy scarf pattern.  One ball will do it!

Quick Ribbon Scarf

  1. Cast on 10 stitches on size US 13-17 needles (whatever you have handy)
  2. Knit 4 rows.
  3. Next row, Knit 1, *yarn over 2 times, knit 1.*  Repeat from * to * across row.
  4. Next row, knit 1, *drop 2 yarn-overs, knit 1.*  Repeat from * to * across row.
  5. Knit 4 rows.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 to desired length.
  7. Bind off and weave in yarn ends with a finishing needle.

Happy Knitting!
