Recently Roseworthy Books started listing books bound or rebound by an obscure bindery originally started in Maine.  The reaction to these amazing books has been so overwhelming that we thought it best you know something about the bindery.

 Ursa Major Bindery was founded by a student of the esoteric that had studied for over 20 years.  He valued privacy and secrecy and thus never advertised his work.  He created bindings for books that were treasured by several individuals in a secret occult organization.  He recognized that certain occult books became rare in their own lifetimes but were only printed in paper back editions or were so expensive as first editions as to be unobtainable to all but the rich or the lucky.

  Using the knowledge he had gained as an apprentice bookseller for one of the oldest occult bookstores in America, accomplished collector or esoteric works, and book binder... he organized an effort to create fine bindings that not only delighted the eye but functioned and survived as a fine hard cover would. He could already sewn manuscripts, or bind a book from scratch but he felt he needed to create bindings for other fine books.  Bindings that would make the look and feel as desirable as the content. He felt that an Occult Library should not only hold information that would rock worlds but look , smell, and feel like it does.  

"The Magus creates gowns and robes out of silk, he or she waits in the wee hours of the morning to cut the branch off a tree for a blasting rod, he or she builds an altar by hand...this will all LOOK like and be amazing when it is done.  How will this Magus feel when they have to pull the paperback creased ripped grimoire out of their bag.  The Book... the power center!... should be dressed just a finely as the temple, the tools, and the Magus!" ("UB" founder/ binder.)

  The founder of Ursa Major Bindery began with traditional bindings of all types (i.e. cloth, paper, etc.)  but found a niche in creating one of a kind pictorial title plates and covers, magical scripts for the titles, hand made end papers with magical occult sigils and of course... leather bound books with raised bands, marbled paper and the works. The amount of skill demonstrated in the works he made was highly professional, complete, and exact.  These were not staple bound, post held copies, but fine professionally bound items. 

  Roseworthy Books began selling Ursa Major Bindery works just over two months ago.  At first not much thought was given to the books and.  Immediately a response came back from the buyers that the books offered were "Amazing!"  With this response from the buyers more books were pulled from the shelves and offered for auction.  The response was the same. 

Now Roseworthy Books and Ursa Major Bindery have come to a cross roads.  We have revived Ursa Major Bindery and will be both selling the works already bound and also binding new works.  We are also preparing to publish and bind some sought after edtions in extremely fine limited editions. We hope to provide fine occult works that are obtainable by the serious collector. 

 We are not sure if we will stay two entities or become one but what we are sure of ...is that the books offered will quickly become rare in themselves.
