Helping Other eBayers

I just received an email from a very kind lady who gave me information on an item I am selling that will help me out tremendously. There is nothing in it for her - she was just being helpful. I wrote back and told her that people like her are what makes eBay a great place.

We all have the same number of hours in a day and what we choose to do with them varies. Therefore, when someone takes some of their precious time to help me out, I am extremely grateful. It may be only a few minutes but it means a lot to me because it can be a rare thing these days.

I try to do the same back. I have had several people buy from me who were new to eBay. I generally let them know that I see they are newbies and offer to answer any questions they have or help them out in any other way. I have given information to many people about selling on eBay offering tips and advice along with steering them towards the groups where they can get even more hints for success. Anywhere I can, I try to help out and so, when it comes back to me, I just love it.

Thanks again, Mary from Florida. You are a great asset to the eBay community!

I think that is what makes eBay great! Generally many nice people helping each other. Often people have helped me with an item, just because. and I have done the same. It truely is a community, neighbors helping neighbors. :)

I've had similar experiences myself and for some reason, it never ceases to amaze me. I guess because in the real world, people seem too busy to take that step to offer some help.

Last night, I was doing a search and came upon an auction that had the wrong gallery picture posted for the item selling. I emailed the seller and informed her of the mistake.

And she was a competitor, mind you.

She responded and was very grateful that someone took the time to tell her. I figure, the Golden Rule applies on ebay, just as it does in the real world.

I was browsing the listings of a big ebay autograph dealer *TMS*. He had a photo up of an item and he listed it as an unknown autograph. He had no bids on the item. I recognized it as the signature of Ward Bond. I emailed him, he revised his description and wound up with a lot of bids. He gave me a discount on my next purchase. I just felt it was the right thing to do, it didn't hurt me any, didn't cost me anything, and I profited in my next purchase from him. I've had people correct me gently when I have misidentified an occasional item in the past. What goes around, comes around.
