Delays in all NurseHealer projects are unavoidable at this time. In an effort to catch up, I developed a severely painful arm strain. After a week of intense pain on a level I can't even describe, I ended up in the ER. Typing with one hand is problematic. Delays will persist during my recovery.

My most favorite cookbook for back-to-basics cooking is "The More-With-Less Cookbook" by Doris Janzen Longacre, ISNB: 083619103X
This book contains suggestions by Mennonites on how to eat better and consume less of the world's limited food resources.
(This book changed my perspective on food, food storage, and cooking with basics for nutrional value and wholesomeness.)

Another great back-to-basics cookbook is "Pantry Cooking" (Unlocking Your Pantry's Potential) by by Cheryl F. Driggs, ISBN: 0-9658909-2-9
This book contains more than 350 recipes using only storable food. No fresh or frozen ingredients ar required so that, no matter what your circumstances, you can pull together a delicious meal from what is on hand.

I like big bulky vintage volumes that contain everything you need to know in one book.
One such book is "American Home All-Purpose Cook Book" (Your Complete Guide to Successful Cooking), Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 66-23272
 (no ISBN in 1966).
This book is a comprehensive, basic cookbook for beginner to expert.

For books that offer more than just recipes, you can't beat "Stocking Up" (The Classic Preserving Guide) by Carol Hupping and the Staff of the Rodale Food Center, ISBN: 0-671-69395-6.
This book is most comprehensive, up-to-date guide to harvesting, storing, preparing, and preserving foods of all kinds.

Another is "The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest" by Carol W. Costenbader, ISBN: 0-88266-978-8.
The back cover says it all. "With The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest, even the busiest folks can create a well-stocked pantry of fruits, vegetables, herbs, meats, flavored vinegars, and seasonings. Step-by-step illustrated instructions, informative charts, and a host of delicious recipes make this an indispensable kitchen reference."

Most of these books are in my current auctions. I frequently have some awesome cookbooks in my eBay store because I can't stop buying them. I have to thin out the bookshelf every once in awhile to make room for more books.
