Paypal e-checks GOTTA GO!

If you too LOVE PAYPAL but can't stand echeques - here is a letter which I sent to Paypal complaints department today ... You might agree, You mightn't - and that's your prerogative ... but perhaps there is strength in numbers - anyway let the mud fling begin ... here 'tis.

Good afternoon Paypal.

My complaint relates to a number of issues relating to your company's new process of payment delays when payments are made using echeques.

My company, Lindy's Goodies, is most annoyed at this new strategy and as a high volume Power Seller on Australian eBay, I can assure you that my discussions with other top Power Sellers have indicated that this implementation is being met with definite anger!

In my own situation, my customers often pay for Express Post which allowed us in the past to offer Same Day Postage. However, we are now placed us in a position where our offer is basically defined as 'false advertising'! Ebay customers are not known for their patience or delays in receiving goods - they are quick to retaliate by way of negative feedback and abusive emails, and obviously this effects their eBay 'buying' experience, not to mention that they're unlikely to return to us either!

I have around 4,000 listings - all of which now need to be revised to indicate our new preference for Bank Payments - which if made directly into our bank account - can allow us to maintain our Same Day Postage policy. I am very hesitant to remove the Paypal option altogether, but your Company places me in a situation where it certainly does have to be considered.

Discussions on the PowerSeller board also indicate that echeques are creating problems for others too ... my suggestion to Paypal is to take note of the outcry against the new process, accept that it isn't in the best interests of your company, and revert to accepting and processing payments as previously done - quickly and without complications for buyers and sellers.

I believe this complaint needs to be dealt with quickly, but in the meantime, it needs to be said that the email which buyers receive indicating their payments will be cleared in around '4' days, must be revised. As we were advised today when speaking with a Paypal representative, payments can take 7-10 days for clearance. The customers MUST be told the truth immediately so as not to negatively affect the experience they have with the seller. After all, it isn't the seller's fault that the goods can't be sent quickly notwithstanding whether express post has been paid or not.

An urgent response to my complaint would be appreciated. I would expect no less than the revision of the buyer email to be undertaken immediately.

As a final resort, the Australian Consumer Affairs could become involved as false advertising is a serious matter in this country. Buyers cannot be misled by advertising and I do believe that even the length of time it takes to clear the Paypal payment with the discrepancy of up to 6 days, is misleading, not to mention that accepting Paypal payments is indicated as providing the quickest manner in which customers will receive their goods. Simply - no longer true.

I will also post this correspondence online for anyone interested to see how our complaint is dealt with and the response Paypal believes appropriate.

I eagerly await a positive outcome to this widespread dilemma,

A VERY weird item for sale - check it out!

What gets up your nose?

I'm going to have a go at the cost of postage!

For eBayers who sell internationally, it never ceases to amaze me about how expensive it is for us to ship our items from Australia to anywhere in the world, or for someone to send something to me here in Australia.

Ok, so that drives me nuts... but what gets me even madder, is that we now have to compete with not only other sellers from our own countries, but those from say Thailand, Hong Kong etc. who appear to have quite cheap postage - which makes international shipping for us, even more difficult!

It used to be the case not that long ago that say, Thai sellers, would charge stupid prices for their shipping so a lot of people were put off buying from them, even with items selling at another stupid price, 1c!  But they've changed their ways... the prices are reasonable and now the shipping is cheap! Go figure! How can their country's postal services offer postage so cheaply?

Grrrr, makes competition even harder.

Great Dane puppies ... photo ...

Don't you just hate it when that happens? lol

My 10 Newborn Great Dane puppies

Hi All,

Yesterday's blog showed you a photo of our Great Dane mum with her 10 babies. Did you find them all? As promised, here's the same photo of them again, but all marked. There were a couple of tricky little ones hiding right next to mum! Today the puppies look as though they're about twice their birth size and they're only 5 days old! All are going great guns, healthy and strong and gorgous with their little squeals as they feed! Anyway, I'll be back again real soon with more photos ...

Cheers, Lindy

Mum's name is Tigger and Dad is a Blue Merle ... in this litter we got Chocolate, Blue Merle, Merlequin and Harlequin! Yippee! 7 girls and 3 boys ... Hope you like the photo ... Cheers, Lindy
