Archive - December 2006 Violin labeled & branded Giuseppi PedrazziniPosted Dec-29-06 19:54:16 PST Updated Dec-29-06 19:55:07 PST New violin up for bid, a violin labeled and Giuseppi Pedrazzini. Not really sure if this instrument is made from the actual maker as label and brand describes. In other news, we got another sale on Amazon! A silk cover bag for a viola was sold. We're still waiting to see if we can sell our bread & butter items of Concord Instrument cases online but so far no luck. Anybody interested in bidding on brand new musical instrument cases at eBay? Let us know what you think! -Ollavaca Pegs, Fine Tuners, & TailpiecesPosted Dec-28-06 15:49:12 PST Currently, we have a mixed assortment of string instrument pegs, fine tuners, and tailpieces up for auction. Only starting at $0.99. They are all in working condition, grouped together as an odd assortment. We're still trying to fix up the Silvestre et Maucotel violin but it's been hard since we've become so busy at the shop. Will post about this future item listing, whenever we get a breather. -Ollavaca Next Violin, labeled Silvestre et MaucotelPosted Dec-27-06 14:04:07 PST We have another violin up for auction. A violin labeled, Silvestre et Maucotel.
Need to do a little more research on this maker before we post our listing.
As of now, we've done quite well on eBay and look forward to doing more business out of state.
From just the last few auctions, we've had bidders from Sweden, France, Japan, Canada, and Israel. Who would have thought we could reach such an audience? If any locals are following this blog, don't forget to cash in your 20% coupon that you might have recieved through the mail. -Ollavaca Full size cello up for auctionPosted Dec-26-06 19:37:35 PST Updated Dec-27-06 14:03:24 PST Coming soon! A used cello came to our shop today. The label inside read that is was made in Czechoslovakia.
Photos have been taken, and description will be written, hopefully by tomorrow's end.
-Ollavaca Hornsteiner ViolinPosted Dec-22-06 16:07:39 PST Today we have uploaded one of our better instruments up for eBay auction. A German violin labeled Jacobus Hornsteiner. It's a good solid instrument that an up and coming player may want to take a look at. In other news, we recently made a big sale today with a Chen cello with one of our in-house bowmaker's bows. Good things happen right before the holidays. -Ollavaca A violin and a violaPosted Dec-21-06 07:41:21 PST We are just about done photographing all the 8 instruments for ebay.
As of now, there are two more instruments listed: a violin and a viola.
The dark viola is probably a french instrument that gone through much ware over the years.
The violin has handwriting inside that claims it was made by Castagneri. We're not sure who he is, let alone, if he made this instrument.
However, we did find his name in the Henley's. 4 Violins up at oncePosted Dec-19-06 17:05:25 PST If you've been checking our blog, we now have 4 violins on auction. The hotest item seems to be the folk violin we listed. It sure is a one of a kind instrument, something I'd like to have on my wall or perhaps a gift for the holidays. A little disappointed though by the lack of traffic on the violin labeled FNAA. It's probably an underrated violin because the makers don't seem to be keen on its varnish, but from a player's perspective, it plays incredibly well! We've listed the T.Dodd violin again for those who didn't get a chance to place their bids. Nothing structually or aesthetically wrong with the instrument. It came back to us from the winning bidder of the previous auction after he unsuccessfuly tried to turn around a profit on the item. The latest one we listed is an old German violin with the label Joseph Guarnerius. This instrument will be one of many violins to be auctioned off from our friend of the shop that came by to let us auction off his family instruments. Look for more of his instruments to come. -Ollavaca Tadioli has finally arrived!!!Posted Dec-14-06 19:30:45 PST Updated Dec-16-06 17:50:22 PST On Wednesday, our new shop item came to us from Italy. Packed in special wooden crate, so the instrument would remain suspended, the Tadioli violin finally arrived!! It looked absoolutely beautiful. In documenting this exquisite instrument, there were very interesting signs of artistic flare marked by the maker. The back of this instrument has this red antique and craquelour effect that make it look gorgeous. The branding on the inside of the instrument, next to the label, was layered with some gold leafs. The maker own insignia or lettering is branded next to his label in some a gothic-like lettering. Finally, you can also see more of his branded work on inside upper block if you peep inside through the endbutton. Absolutely fascinating stuff. The boss at the shop had a great time "test driving" this rich sounding instrument. The Tadioli is currently in our shop but were thinking of listing it on our website. if you guys have interests, shoot us an email or give us a call! -Ollavaca Exciting items for bid this week!Posted Dec-09-06 11:23:40 PST Coming soon! -Ollavaca Next violn up for bid...Posted Dec-06-06 16:17:10 PST Yesterday, we promised that the "fried" violin would be up and listed. After some research, here's a better take on the instrument. The lable inside the violin reads: Fried. Aug. Glass vertertigt, nach Antonius Stradavarius Fies Fabrikat in Cremona 1764 Glass was listed in Henley's Universal Dictionary of Violin & Bowmakers. The label inside the instrument bears his name, but we're a bit skeptical that it was Glass who made this. The reason why is because the date is printed "1764" on the label, a year that is not during Glass' lifetime and the date would have likely been handprinted. Either way, it's an interesting violin that certainly has held up well. For more information, check out this ebay listing of the week! -Ollavaca Freid ViolinPosted Dec-05-06 20:55:19 PST Tomorrow we will have our next item up for bid, a violin labeled "Freid Violin".
Photos for the listing have been taken and need some editing.
Will bring more information about this instrument as the description will be proofed tomorrow.
