ONE FOUR DA MONEY

DOES SEX SELL? YES OR NO PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
thewitchescupboard
It can. But I think sometimes it alienates people, so it can have the opposite effect.

Just depends on where you are trying to sell it at :-D.

Yeah, but those people still look, in secret. ^_^

I know it helps a lot in advertising. If you have something attractive, people want to look at it, or it grabs their attention from the start. It can be a good way to get your foot in the door, at least.

Yes, you automatically alienate half of prospective customers by going that route.

I think humor is more attractive and generates more general attention....in a good way.

Agreed, it depends on item you are trying to promote. I think it is a big mistake to use it on ebay though. I'm a pretty open minded person and not easily offended. But I, like others, automatically skip over all auctions with pics like that. Now, if I was in the market for adult toys I guess I would look FOR auctions like that lol! But, if I am looking for something like an ebook (which is one of the things people try to use this strategy alot for) I never even open the ones with pics like that.

I think the "sex sells" idea backfires on ebay. You'll probably get looks, maybe even watchers and a stray bid here and there. But the people who actually WOULD be willing to fork over the $ for whatever the product is, probably won't be there. Just the people looking for a cheap thrill, bored people and curiosity seekers will be.

Well, everyone's interested in sex....most everyone anyway, but if I'm looking for a TV, makes no difference if there's a sexy guy draped over it.....I'm looking at the SET! LOL!

Yeah, if you are on eBay selling, you don't want to use nudie pics unless you are selling a scam, a moneymaking eBook, porn, or sex toys. ^_^

Nudity immediately translates to "shady, questionable, or potentially illegal" to many people.

you hit the nail on the head kaioh! Those ( scam, a moneymaking eBook, porn, or sex toys) itesm are exactly what people think you are selling if they see provocative pics. And many people aren't looking for those things, so they pass the item on by.

It depends really.. like the other night I was looking to buy some panties on ebay, saw some cute ones but seller posed in them??!! Yes I know she said brand new in tags but the fact that I saw pics of her wearing something which I wanna buy and having closeups pics too didn't help at all.. I was so afraid of getting "worn" ones in my purchases , lol.. I skipped her stuff even tho they are really pretty and went looking somewhere else...

yes seriously eww.. you know there are actually quite a couple sellers doing that now.. I last looked the other night and last night.. one of the auctions even showed a bit of her .. thingy.. ugh.. ;_; It discourages me to buy from those people.. no matter if I like girls or not.. lol

Does it get attention? Yes.
Would I take a seller seriously if all their gallery pics were nearly nude come-ons? Probably not.

Sexy is one thing...a picture of a woman wearing lingerie is fine if you're selling the lingerie...as long as it's done with class. I find mildly suggestive things more appealing than the "in your face" type.

I agree with madcat about the humor!
