Most Recent Posts The Great BeginningPosted Feb-21-07 00:14:07 PST I was on ebay for a short period of time back in 1998 but since then had not been on it until November 2006. I had always worked and was proud of my career history and accomplishments for only being in my 20s and the barriers taht I had to overcome. I have a special needs 8 year old boy and a gifted 7 year old girl os I felt that the school wasn't meeting their needs so I decided to give up working outside of the home to stay home and home school. I then went on ebay to find some software for my son and ended up getting into ebay on a full-time business with no experience and no one for advise. I had four years of college majoring in business, so that helped me have a knowledge of some things to running my own business. I started by selling my time for pet coupons as I have no pets so otherwise I was throwing them away. For awhile I was giving them to someone who had multiple animals but they weren't being used so it was a waste of my time. I also sold a big case of diapers that I got real cheap with coupons and BJ's Wholesale Club pricing (not ideal though due to costs a lot to ship and fees so not a good item to make a profit). I wasn't sure how to price or what formats or anything so I did searches and looked at what was selling and what prices they were starting at. At first I actually took a loss on about the first 10 sold items because I had to build a feedback score and history so people would be able to trust me even if just a little. I was determined to be set apart from the beginning by getting people's orders out within 24 hours and if someone wasn't happy for one reason or another do everythiing I could to make it right for them. A lot of the first sellers that I bought from would lie and say something was sent and it wasn't. Or not respond to my emails. I had a real rough start when it came to me buying items. So I took this and decided I would be the exact opposite. Even a 'power seller' tried to take me for $1000+, but I filed a paypal claim and won the money back. But it was really stressful as I thought since they were right here in the same state and a power seller I would have the time to get the merchandise, resell and make my money back before I had to go in to have my c-section but didn't get it until after a week or more after I came home from hospital.+ I learned from that if it is your first time dealing with someone, read their feedbacks thoroughly, this person was having a lot of negative feedback but most of it was being withdrawed mutually so it didn't reflect it. Also, don' put alll of your eggs in the same basket as the saying goes. Start with a smaller amount that if it is tied up for a month or two you're not going to go insane over it. Well, come back frequently as I tell some of the tricks and tips I learned along the way. Thanks for your time and interest in reading this.
