There's gold in them thar hillsPosted Nov-08-06 07:28:54 PST So here's the vicious cycle Designers get their inspiration from the streets, take it to the runway, slap the "luxury" label on it and then dangle it like a carrot in front of the gift horse (uh - that would be us) that gave them the inspiration in the first place! Well it seems the bitterly scorned fashionistas of the world who have thrown their stilettos upside the head of the fashion industry have made a swelling dent. Designers have FINALLY got some sense in their head and are slowly realizing it might be nice to throw us common folks a bone every now and then. Lesser priced designer collections are the newest craze to hit the industry. Target , H&M, 9 west - you'd think we were back in the days of the california gold rush the way thesse guys are jumpin on the bandwagon. "Tar-j" started slowly with mizrahi, mossimo and rowley but have now kicked it up a notch by forming the "Go International" concept line and have launched collections from Luella Bartley, Paul&Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour and officially as of today - proenza schouler for spring '07 H&M wanted a slice of the pie too and jumped right off the porch with the big dogs: Stella McCartney, Karl -the F-in god of fashion - Lagerfeldt and this season titillates us with Viktor and Rolf - saweeeet For those of you who were already cool to the scene and hit up 9 west to snatch up a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes my fedora is off to you. I can't find a pair ANYWHERE!!! Even here on Ebay! Now they're sellin this koko somethin or other chick's stuff. I'm sure she's good and all but she ain't no vivienne So - you ask - what is the point of all my ramblin?? Get your butt out there and grab a few pieces from these lines. You know how fickle fashion is! Lord knows when they will regain consciousness and quit makin this stuff at affordable prices. When they do - this stuff will appreciate in value to be worth the same or more than the runway stuff. hey - ya never know....
