Archive - March 2008 Have you used paypal this week?Posted Mar-13-08 17:17:41 PDT Paypal is upgrading too... I dont mind Paypal making transactions more secure. But I wasnt wild about the last upgrade that apparently loses your transaction for several minutes before it finds it again. But they say its normal and we will get used to it. But guys, some basics you MUST keep on there! #1 After you pay for something. I want the option to see my entire paypal account. I open my Pay now page in a new window (from my ebay) because I know its going to Paypal. So I know to log off when I am done. The way it is now? We are assuming you automatically logged us off? No message just now you are back at ebay? DONT DO THAT! Let us decide. Or inform us on the page, "you are now Signed out of Paypal"!
Manually being able to adjust shipping is a must. Becasue no matter how often you say the system is compensating. IT ISNT! Now yes I understand some sellers have issues with buyers doing their own thing. But your shipping system is still not getting it right. If I cant put in the correct amounts myself I dont finish the deal, which means delays for everyone involved. So to review. Put a log out of paypal link on the page after you pay. But also allow the user to decide if they want to go look at their other transactions, or balance or whatever. If I have to keep signing in and out every time? I am going to find another way to do it, or in other words I will STOP USING PAYPAL. So making it more difficult to use is not the way to go here. Easy is good, Secure is better, More complicated is BAD! Just my two cents....
pat-alaska Ebay / Turbo Lister "Upgrades"Posted Mar-13-08 16:52:16 PDT Updated Mar-13-08 16:57:45 PDT I was going to do my second blog on feedback. But yet another "upgrade" to ebay has me perplexed...I dont use the fixed price listing that often. It just doesnt suit my needs. So when I checked my item after listing I see it has item specifics. I never asked for that. So my plea to ebay. "I get you want to have a standardized item listings". But for collectibles... There are so many little things... You can never be accurate with your one size fits all approach. I personally dont want to spend the time filling this stuff out twice. My listings are very informative and complete. And believe it or not, I get some of my best deals when buying because people dont have a clue what they have. Sure the information is out there, they just dont bother to look. But now you are going to be making it even more complicated. Becasue you cant come close in the categories I deal in. I sent an email to ebay this morning when I re-re-re-edited my one listing affected by this. See Hockey is what I specialize in. Well within just hockey things can be different than in Baseball or Football collectibles. So the one size fits all approach isnt going to work. Its all about licensing and unions and who owns what brand or product. Bottom line, the way you have it now you cant list things correctly. So whomever thought having this item specific thing for everything? Re-think it. PLEASE! Make it voluntary. And let us decide where to place it in the ad. My ads are complete and informative. But arent full of mistakes like your pasted in look. And as I said, I dont want to have to enter this information more than once. My system works great. I dont need, "Your Help". But the bottom line for all ebayers on this. A one size fits all approach will not work for the collectibles market. Daily goods, ok sure. DVD's Books, Back Issues of Magazines. Yeah ok I can see that. Its all pretty standard. But collectibles? There are variables upon variables. US version, European version, North American Version. So many variables I couldnt list them all. So please cut this from the "New Improvements". You cant possibly keep up with the new releases. And in the Sports card world, some things arent even disclosed until years after the release. So accuracy is just right out the window. Now a plea for a return to the ACTUAL title of an item in the end notices win! Having all the emails be identical as a buyer and seller "You won". Even seperated into folders? Its impossible to keep track. At the least put the item # into the title. At least that makes the listings searchable. Its still difficult, but easier. Though having the email back to the way it was a year ago would be preferable. If you dont sell, you may not be aware of it. But the contact information that used to be provided at the end auction notice emails. Is no longer made available. And for those who say request it? I did, I requested some information from ebay the first week of February. I still havent gotten my request fullfilled! And no its not my email, I dont use email filters, I didnt change a password it isnt me, its ebay. So anyone from tech trying to push the blame off on all us Users. Its ebay, not us. Next blog, wont be feedback, but probably the "new Paypal upgrades" If you havent used it for a day, try it... Yep they are messing with that too!!! Upper Deck GAME DATED Parallels 1997/98 ONLYPosted Mar-11-08 17:53:00 PDT Upper Deck GAME DATED Parallels 1997-1998 Only! Ok to start, I have been trying to complete a team set of the above mentioned series since the set came out. These are super tough to find. And unfortunately both Upper Deck and Becketts have done a terrible job in explaining what is or isnt a parallel in the set. Now I have been on ebay over 10 years. In that time I hav contacted hundreds about their listings. More than 90% have the regular card. So I had to be the one to tell them sorry. It isnt a $300. Gretzky its the $3.00 one. But Becketts has gotten a little better about it. And now the problem is leaning more towards the dishonest people on ebay. Saying things like "I never claimed it was the parallel" in my lsting. Even though they call it the Game Dated Series. And start the minimum at 10X the top book value. Guys thats just lying, whether you want to admit it or not. And as soon as you send me a reply saying that. I go to your item and report you to ebay. (I always wait for a response.) Because usually the person is making an honest mistake. But it happened again today. This guy wants to report me to ebay because he says I am soliciting him? That one left me shaking my head, thinking I wonder if he really knows what the word means. But thats exactly how he played it. "I didnt say it was the parallel". Even though the book value mint is 60 cents, and he has it starting at 4.95. ??? You are knowingly deciving others... Period. Now anyone reading this, ok now look in my guide section. I wrote a guide describing the differences two years ago. It has a scan. I am happy to show you a larger or different scans from my email. I am just trying to find the real things. Thats it. I have no interest in "stealing" it from you. Or one of my favortite quotes earlier this year. "I dont know what your trying to pull, but I am going to send the FBI to your house" I about had a laughing fit on that one. But thats another story. Bottom line for the game dateds. Some had dates some didnt in the regular set. Just having the date on the front isnt what makes it a parallel. Only the dateds had parallels is one point. The other BIG one... The parallels had a silver F/X foil effect. Let me know if you have questions. More to the blog than cards though....
