Well are you ready? I went 60 mph around an off camber blind curve as I came around, at the last minute I saw a Ford truck heading right towards me. I leaned until my footpags scraped on a BIG Harley Davidson Road King Police bike. I hit the brakes and skidded for all of 4 feet prior to hitting the truck head-on. If only I could have launched myself over the truck? Well I did, all the way to the tailgate. When I hit the tailgate, I broke my nose my helmut cracked, I broke both arms, both legs, my hip my ribs I suffered Brain contusions and Lung contusions and last but not least while on the operating table I had a blod clot which ended up stopping in my lower vena cava (Heart), After a few days the doctor came to me and said we may be able to save your right leg however you will never walk right, you will require special shoes and you wil always have some measure of pain. BY THE WAY HE SAID DON'T PLAN ON STANDING FOR ANY LONG PEWRIODS OF TIME. OR we can amputate it below the knee and you should have a fairly normal life. No pressure but we need you to decide right though you are all drugged on morphine, because the longer you wait... the more the pain signals will be established and the greater your Phatom Pains will be! OK to my new ebay friend who gives a rip and has a great sense of humor. I chose to amputate. No problems and minimal phantom pain I now have a big 10 inch "stump" after my knee and that is all that is left. With this stump I slide it inot my prosthetic leg and function fairly normally. Drive a stick shift, surfing and water skiing etc.. so what is my problem? It is my remaining left leg which is now the only foot I have so it isn't hard to put my best foot forward. it is the man made plastic foot. My real foot has very limiteed range of motion and the leg (held together with a steel plate and six screws) gets swollen and is painful to walk on. I told the doctors and specialists CUT IT OFF and I will be a bilateral amputee. they say wait til your older. .... I hit the truck going 60 mph he was going 40 mph in the opposite direction this was a head on impact of 100 mph + according to CHP report. I broke my helmut in half, broke both arms both hands, my hip my ribs and both legs. I also sufferedf brain contusions .......OH yeah my memory doesn't work as well and I tend to repeat myself. I already wrote this above. OOPS???

I am grateful to be alive and have an awesome wife and two great kids. Life has just gotten exponentially better with a simple change of meds and the possibility of a spinal cord stimulation device. Greg
