Evil Superman Movie Costume on eBay.com

The late Christopher Reeves’s evil doppelganger Superman suit from Superman III is being auctioned off by heritageauctiongalleries on ebay Live Auctions this April 14th.

Unfortunately the movie costume isn’t complete, missing the boots and belt. But the all important red cape and pants are present.

The original costume Reeves wore in the 1st Superman blockbuster was recently valued at between £25,500 - £35,500, but that was before it also went under the [ebay] hammer on Thursday, and fetched a whopping £58,000!

Perhaps the winners will finally be able to reveal the mystery of exactly how Superman manages to keep his tights on, and ladder-free, at the speed of light.

Fab Sites On The Net

Bin pottering around the web today to see what interesting stuff is out there and thought I'd share some of my finds with you guys.

Some of my favourite films and TV programmes [like Bladerunner & Prison Break] use origami as a way of subtly comunicating subtext. It's a very cool skillset to have and reminds me of my school bus driver who could tear up a bus ticket to look like a crocodile :o)

"Between 1940 and 1973, six American presidents from both political parties secretly recorded just under 5,000 hours of conversations. This site is designed as a service ... making freely available all of the presidential recordings, along with relevant research materials, so that ... the public can hear ... these remarkable tapes for themselves".

"Blinkx is the world's largest and most advanced video search engine. Fed by automatic spiders that crawl the web for audio video content and content partnerships with over 200 leading content and media companies, blinkx uses visual analysis and speech recognition to better understand rich media content. Users can search for content, create personal TV channels that automatically splice relevant content together.

This is a very cool and strange blog all about maps. No... not the boring kind of map you find in motorway guides; the strange kinds of maps put in stories or created by ancient cultures etc... It started as just a handy place for a guy [who liked maps] to store images of them and make observational notes. This month the blog is celebrating 500,000 hits!

"Among the entries in this fascinating blog is a map of Oz, the classic New Yorker map of the world as viewed by New York City residents, the world of Orwell's 1984, Stephen King's Maine and the whole world in a clover leaf.

On the Spot Trend: Pretty Polka Dots

"Quick, spot the latest trend. It's polka dots. This perky print is finding its way onto everything from dresses to tops to socks this season. Go on, admit it: Ever since you saw Julia Roberts in that brown dress with white polka dots in Pretty Woman, you've had a soft, ahem, spot for them.

And these are not the polka dots of yesteryear. They are retro with a funky and playful twist. In fresh hues such as yellow and fuchsia, they offer a fun element to our sometimes serious wardrobes. Look flirty in a versatile polka-print dress that will take you from work to an outside cafe. Or add some kick to your chic white summer outfit with a pair of playful print pumps." And what about a flirty dotted bag?

Love Is... Spot Weekend Bag

"There's a style out there for every budget and every taste level. It seems that this trend will have some staying power, so smart shoppers who opt for dots right now will get a lot of mileage out of them."

M for Madonna... or M for Mediocre ?

Mixed reviews from media and fashion industry, as Madonna's new fashion line was launched by H&M this week. The mainstream, largely black & white, collection of clothing and accessories have been described by some as "dazzling and sophisticated", "Simple and sleek...yet trendy".

But many expected the collection to be much more daring and trendsetting, perhaps more like her stage, photo cover & red carpet outfits? One H&M representative comment that "There have been a lot of purchases but also a lot of returns". This has been interpreted as indicating a level of disapointment by the shoppers once the opening buzz wore off.

I suspect it's more reflective of shoppers prefering to grab everything they are visually attracted to, while there are any left, and making the actual decision 'to keep or not to keep' in the comfort of their own home rather than in the crush of a manic H&M changing room.

Personally, We like this celeb collection very much! I can see myself wearing a few 'M for Madonna' pieces and feeling comfortable, confident and little bit sexy... in the way a trend-setting, attention-grabbing, gold super-pointy cone bra just wouldn't quite manage. Know what I mean?

Protect Your Phone From Unsolicited Sales Calls

By Aaryn
@ Pimp My Strides

Fed-up of being harrassed by sales calls and automated message nonsense?

Like spam e-mails, 'spam' phone calls can be incredibly irritating, ill-timed and feel relentless. There are numerous companies like maximumimpact.com who make their money selling your contact information to a seemingly endless line of finance companies, double-glazing and conservatory specialists, mobile contract resellers etc... they make money by enabling hordes of tele-sales based businesses to harass you !

It's a completely cheeky liberty... But did you know that you don't have to accept it?

The government Telephone Preference Service can help you stop the majority of unsolicited calls within 28 days just by submiting a very quick and simple online request form. Just go to http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/ read their FAQ's and register your numbers now.

If you have been troubled by calls where the phone rings but on answering there is no one there, you may also wish to register your number on the Silent Callgard Service on 0870 4443969. These calls are generated by automatic dialling equipment which dial more numbers than there are operators available to take the calls.

If you haven't registered already do take a look at their site now and liberate your phone (and your temper) from being pestered by tele-sales.
