Triple Your eBay Sales With This Simple Method

How would you feel if I said to you that you could simply and easily triple your profits on eBay selling information products? Well you can and if you keep reading I will show you how.

As you should now know if you are selling your eBooks on CDs (which is really the only way to do it because of the policy change on digital items) you can place as many eBooks as you can fit onto a single CD and the shipping cost will not rise one penny. So selling multiple eBooks on one CD is a way to make money if you know the correct method.

Well now you don’t need to do any research or try different methods of selling as I have been testing methods that work and I will simply tell the method that currently works best for me.

As I mentioned before the amount of eBooks you put onto a CD doesn’t change the shipping costs, so why not give the customer the incentive of free shipping if they buy multiple products from you! I have found that setting my delivery options to free shipping if the customer buys three or more items from me works best.

To do this simply login to 'my eBay', scroll down and on the left hand side of the screen you will see the link ‘Site Preferences’, scroll down again and you will see another link saying 'postage and packaging preferences'. Change the postage and packaging preferences by clicking 'edit'. You should then see the words 'promotional postage rule', once again click 'edit' and a new window should open. Fill in the details to whatever you want and how many products need to be purchased to receive free shipping, I have tested this and three items currently work best for me.

Now you must tick the boxes which say 'apply my promotional shipping rule' whenever you post a new product on eBay or turbo lister. This method will see you have lots of multiple sales and will triple your profits with some sales that otherwise would have just been single sales.

And it doesn't cost you a penny more to ship the item...

Why eBooks and other information products are popular choices of a lot of eBay sellers?

Finding perfect products to sell through eBay is one of the biggest problems faced by sellers. There are many sellers, who face the challenges even though they earn good profit by selling their products through eBay.

What’s the ultimate eBay product and what characteristics would it have?

•    The product should be highly profitable
•    The product should have unlimited supply
•    The product should be easy to ship and deliver
•    The seller should own and control the product
•    The product should have no or less competition
•    Product should lend itself to up selling and cross selling

Information products do not imply the adoption of quick schemes, as that’s what usually comes to the mind of the sellers. Information products means knowledge based products that:

•    Assist people
•    Teach people
•    Solve people’s issues
•    Amuse them

Information products are the best selling products on eBay and people love to buy informational products like ebooks on:

•    How to make money doing home business
•    How to make money on eBay
•    Internet Marketing secrets
•    How to plan the perfect wedding
•    How to design and install beautiful Garden Ponds

Are you perplexed about eBooks? Don’t be, as the information includes lots more than original music, videos, photography etc. Some people sell craft items like patterns. Pet lovers sell videos on dog training, grooming and nutrition. Musicians and bands also sell newly composed music. There is no end to the information product range and you will get tired imagining the topics available. Informational products can also include:

•    eBooks and printed books
•    Informational Web page access
•    Videos
•    Audio files or tape CD’s
•    Pod Casts
•    Software products
•    High quality digital photographs
•    Printed and electronic material combinations in the form of DVD or workbook
•    Original music CD’s of DVD’s delivered digitally in MP3

Why information products are most sought after.

•    You can control the product, as you own and set the price for it.
•    Informational products are expensive, but easy to create and lasting.
•    You have the liberty to deliver many products automatically through eBay.
•    You don’t have to face heavy competition.
•    You set the price and deliver the products, as you own the copyright of the product.
•    If you fail in one then you can switch over to the next product or opt for more than one product.

EBay gives you endless opportunities to up sell or cross sell additional products along with information products.

Why is eBay a perfect site for selling information products?

•    92 million members access this site.
•    EBay members usually search for products by keywords.
•    It is very easy to operate through eBay.
•    EBay embraces digital products.
•    Someone browsing eBay is LOOKING TO BUY SOMETHING (very important)

Blow Away the eBay Competition With This Simple Technique

Does your eBay business target a particular niche on eBay? If so how about going one step further and writing an eBook or short report related to your business? This will boost sales and gain you expert status in your niche. And more importantly this will give you an edge over your competition.

As an example maybe you sell gardening products on eBay, everything from lawnmowers to weed killer. Here's what you could do:

You could create an eBook all about creating the perfect garden. You would cover everything you need to know from killing weeds to planting flowers. Or maybe you want to target your niche even more. How about an eBook or short report showing how to create the perfect lawn or how to build a barbecue? I'm sure if your niche was gardening you could write about many different topics.

Even if you sell products targeting many different niches you could do this. Maybe you sell digital cameras amongst other things, how about a short report showing how to take the perfect picture? Or a short report showing the top ten mistakes a new photographer makes? Or maybe you sell clothes on eBay, how about a short report showing how to choose the right outfit for a wedding? Or the top ten mistakes women make when getting ready for a night out?

You could also offer these free eBooks and reports to your customers as a ‘free gift' with every purchase made, this would help with sales and show you as an expert in your niche. It would also give you that much needed edge over your competition.

Now here's where it gets exciting, in these eBooks or short reports would be recommendations. You would recommend these products through either affiliate links or links to the products you are selling yourself. And of course you would be promoting your eBay store.

And here's where it gets even more exciting, you would allow others to sell and distribute these eBooks and short reports. Now each time someone else uses your material they would be promoting your products and services on autopilot. You would be generating targeted customers that would otherwise know nothing about you.

Remember, this can be done at no cost whatsoever, there are many free eBook creators available for download on the internet; all this will cost you is a little time. So if you are serious about building your business why not give it a try? You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain and you are only limited by your imagination.

Don't lose a sale with silly terms.

How many times have you seen terms similar to this at the end of a listing?

Terms and conditions!

Payment must be made within 48 hours, if payment is not made within this time negative feedback will be left and eBay will be informed.

No new users. If your feedback is below 10 please contact me before bidding or I will retract your bid.

No time wasters, scammers or fraudsters..

Why do people do this? It's not going to stop non paying bidders, fraudsters or scammers. What it is going to do is result in fewer sales. Sure, we all hate the non payers and eBay is a scammers paradise but do you really think having terms like that is going to stop it? Of course not.

"Payment must be made within 48 hours, if payment is not made within this time negative feedback will be left and eBay will be informed".

If you even hint at giving me negative feedback for any reason I will simply move on to the next auction. You have just lost a sale.

"No new users. If your feedback is below 10 please contact me before bidding or I will retract your bid".

Why pick on the newbie, we all have to start on zero feedback and most of us start by buying something. By having a silly statement like that you could have lost a customer for life.

"No time wasters, scammers or fraudsters".

Do you really think this will stop a fraudster or a scammer?

What I am trying to say here is try and make your buyers experience as pleasant and easy as possible. For me silly terms like this sound negative and if I can get the product elsewhere I simply close the page and move on to the next auction.

We can all have unpleasant experiences and it's not nice if you get scammed but don't take it out on the rest of the eBay community. In fact if you have any negativity in your listings I would suggest you remove it. Keep your terms simple and easy to understand and you will have more sales. Guaranteed.

Beware Misleading Info That Could Risk Your eBay Account!

There are some so called eBay 'experts' that are advising that you buy and sell 1 cent eBooks to get your feedback rating increased quickly. There is actually a new product doing the rounds right now telling you to do this. It is bad advice as if you do this you will lose your eBay account as eBay see this as feedback manipulation. It may not happen right away but it will happen. I receive countless emails from people who have lost their accounts because they sold 1 cent digital items. Some have had feedback in their 1000s and their account has been suspended and their business is over. All because they sold a few 1 cent eBooks. So my advice to you is don't do it.

How Well Will My Product Do?

Want to write an eBook but you're not sure how well it will do? Try this! Go to eBay and click 'advanced search' and enter your keywords. In this example I will enter 'potty training'. I also tick the 'Search title and description' and 'Completed listings only'. All sold items show in green, and the fact there are a lot means an eBook about 'potty training' could go down very very well indeed.

I also check out the ClickBank Marketplace and find there are a lot of potty training products I could promote either in my eBook or on my download page, or better still both. I also know I have a ton of potential JV partners. So I create my eBook, list it on eBay and I have another income stream created.

What Do You Do?

Let me rephrase that, what do I do? What topic am I considered an 'expert' on? It's selling information products on eBay or using eBay to generate my income. That is my niche, it's what I do best. I don't do AdWords, I have tried but I'm rubbish at it and it has cost me a fortune. I don't really do AdSense, while I make a few hundred dollars a month I don't consider myself an expert. I don't even know what Craigslist or a Squidoo lens is (seriously) and I have barely visited MySpace or YouTube.

What I am trying to say is I have found what I am good at and stuck with it. So if you find yourself trying everything that comes your way you need to take a serious look at what you are doing. Find one thing you are good at and stick with it. Find one niche you can write multiple eBooks on, and no matter what the subject is you can create multiple products. I have created about 10 products about selling info products on eBay and I will create and sell many many more. Become an expert in your field and you will be laughing all the way to the bank.

10 Ways for eBay Sellers to Avoid Negative Feedback.

Your eBay feedback is your biggest eBay selling tool bar none. If you have bad eBay feedback you will struggle to make sales and your eBay business will suffer. Therefore you must protect your eBay feedback as much as possible. Here are 10 tips that will help you maintain an excellent feedback rating.

1. Always be polite in all correspondence. This goes without saying, always treat your customers with respect and give them a pleasant buying experience. By doing so you may gain a customer for life.

2. Avoid excessive shipping charges. If you charge $10 shipping for an item and the cost is only $3 you are leaving yourself open to negative feedback.

3. Mail your items as soon as possible. Don’t wait till the end of the week. Taking too long to deliver your goods means you are risking your feedback. You should always aim to have items packaged and sent within 48 hours of payment.

4. Make sure your item description is accurate. Don’t say your item is as good as new if it’s not. This is probably the most common reason for negative feedback.

5. Answer emails promptly. Don’t wait days and days to answer any queries. This only makes your customer frustrated and this can result in a negative comment.

6. List any flaws your item has. If the item you are selling has a scratch or mark say so or you could be left a negative comment for a poor item description.

7. Don’t retaliate to awkward customers. Sometimes you may get an awkward or offensive customer, that’s life. Don’t retaliate, just deal with their query in a polite and professional manner. This usually ends in the customer apologising and excellent feedback follows.

8. Accept returns. If a customer is not happy with your product for whatever reason allow them to return the item and refund their purchase minus shipping fees. You can then cancel the transaction through eBay and you will get your fees returned and therefore wont be out of pocket. This leaves you free to relist the item with your feedback intact.

9. Package your items carefully. If you are selling delicate items make sure they are packaged carefully with plenty of protection, the last thing you want is your customer to receive damaged goods.

10, Don’t leave feedback first. If you do you are leaving yourself open to negative comments. A happy customer will always leave feedback first, if you leave feedback first you will learn the hard way, trust me.

Remember! Your customer is a real living person. I think sometimes people forget this, try to make the whole buying experience as easy and pleasant as possible. Your customers are the lifeblood of your eBay business and your number one goal should be to make them happy. This can only result in excellent feedback and in turn success for your eBay business.

Why did eBay remove my eBook?

You have written your very 1st eBook, you have created a killer sales page and you list your eBook on eBay. Your eBook starts to sell and your excitement builds at the prospect of 100s of dollars in your PayPal account, then bang! EBay end your auction for a violation of terms. Now you feel like giving up.

The 1st thing to do is not to panic as this happens a lot. I have had many listings ended over the years for silly policy violations. Anyone who has been a subscriber of mine for a long time will remember I had my $10,000 auction eBook ended when I had only sold half of my inventory. The reason eBay ended my auction was because I said I accept 'cash at your own risk'. This is a big no no with eBay but at the time I never realised it.

Anyway, this has got me thinking of the most common reasons eBay will pull one of your eBook auctions.

  1. Wrong, category. EBooks must be listed in the
Everything else > Information products category. List them anywhere else and eBay will eventually catch up with you and remove the offending item(s).

  2. Not stating you are the copyright holder. If you have created your own eBook you are the copyright holder and you must let eBay know this in your listing. Just a simple statement at the end of your auction, something like "Note to eBay staff, I am the copyright holder of this item" will do.

  3. Not stating you are licensed to sell the eBook you are selling. ebay.com's downloadable media policy states you must be the owner (copyright holder) or authorized to distribute the downloadable product by the intellectual property owner. (This means you have resale rights)

You should let eBay know this in your listing(s) so it's best to state something along the lines of "Note to eBay staff, I am licensed to sell this product". You can also use the following statement if the material used is from the public domain (freely available) "Note to eBay staff, the underlying material is in the public domain".

  4. Misleading title. Make sure your title accurately describes the item you are selling and does not mislead. EG, 'Make a million dollars in a day' is a misleading title.

  5. Keyword and trademark violation. Try to avoid using keywords that are not related to the product you are selling. EG, If you were selling a weight loss eBook don't include the names of famous diet plans. This can also apply to the trademark violation rule.

  6. Selling a lot of 1p/1c eBooks. If you sell only 1 cent eBooks you will eventually get suspended, eBay don't like it as it is seen as feedback solicitation. The same goes for buying nothing but 1 cent eBooks. You will end up suspended so don't risk your account. If you want proof just look at the 'no longer a registered user' in the feedback profile of any 1 cent seller. Unless you want to join them don't do it.

  7. Selling copyrighted material. This goes without saying. If you have any doubts about an eBook don't sell it. Always double check any eBooks you sell actually have resale rights and can be sold on eBay.

I could go on but from emails I receive from fellow eBook sellers the above reasons seem to be the most common. Just remember that there is never a guarantee your listings will never be ended as there are so many eBay policies and in fact the rules differ slightly for each country. The US users have it best as they have a 'digital item' format for selling. The sooner this goes worldwide the better as this will stop a lot of problems as it will give eBook sellers the recognition they deserve. Take note eBay UK.

So what should I do if eBay end one of my auctions?

The most important thing is you shouldn't relist the offending item till you clear things up with eBay 1st. Find out why eBay have ended your item, this may take time as eBay usually send pre-written responses and it can sometimes take 2-3 emails to get a proper answer. Just don't give up and you will get to the root of the problem. Also try and keep things polite as the person at the other end is not the person who ended your listing so there is no need to have a go at them.

Once you find out why your listing was ended make adjustments to your sales page and and get the all clear from eBay. This is crucial, just get eBay to check out your sales page and let you know if everything is ok. I usually just re-list the offending item that I have corrected and contact customer support to get the all clear. Once you get the go ahead you are free to re-list and this also keeps you in eBay's good books as they can see you are making an effort not to break their rules.

I know getting listings ended can be very frustrating and believe me I have been there but at the end of the day we have to abide by eBay's rules and as long as you correct any violations when notified by eBay you should have no further problems.

You Have 3 Seconds To Sell Your Ebook On Ebay

They say you should never judge a book by its cover. While this maybe true in the book world in the eBook world it is a different story. Especially when selling your eBooks on eBay.

When you create your eBook it is important you make it the best you can, taking care to avoid spelling mistakes and grammar errors is extremely important. But what you may not realise is your eBook cover is almost as important as the eBook itself. This is because on eBay the 1st thing any potential customer sees is the free image eBay provides with every listing. And they will usually make a decision to keep reading your sales page within 3 seconds of viewing your eBook cover.

So always have an eBook cover created for each eBook you write. And always use this as the 1st image on your eBay listing. As this will be the 1st thing any potential buyer sees it is extremely important that your cover looks the part.

While there is software available that will enable you to create your own covers I would recommend if you can afford it to invest a few dollars and get your cover professionally created by someone else. There are many professional cover artists that will create a cover for you and a simple google search will bring up a ton of results. The cost can be anything from $10 onwards.

Here are a few tips to creating a quality cover that will help sell your eBook.

1. If you are getting your cover professionally created by someone else ask to see their work or when viewing their website look for a portfolio of their work. Almost all professional cover artists will provide this information. If you don't like what you see look elsewhere.

2. Use your own graphics or have them created from scratch. Don't steal your images from another website. This could land you in extremely hot water and you could find yourself getting your listings ended by eBay or even worse, legal action being taken against you. So make sure your images/graphics are original. If your cover is getting created for you by someone else make sure they understand this.

3. Include the title of your eBook on the cover. This sounds obvious but I have seen a ton of covers with no title. Your cover sells your eBook and in my opinion must include the title.

4. If your eBook has resale rights include as many different variations of your cover as possible. You should include different sizes, colours and angles. Give your re-sellers as much as they need to sell your eBook on. They may want to include images on their blogs, newsletters, websites and more and they may struggle if you only provide one image.

5. Include your cover at least once in your sales page. What I find works best is a large cover on the left of the page with text to the right explaining the benefits of your eBook.

Just remember, people do judge an eBook by its cover and if you don't have a cover for your eBook and are struggling with sales on eBay a professionally made cover could make all the difference.
