Beware Misleading Info That Could Risk Your eBay Account!

There are some so called eBay 'experts' that are advising that you buy and sell 1 cent eBooks to get your feedback rating increased quickly. There is actually a new product doing the rounds right now telling you to do this. It is bad advice as if you do this you will lose your eBay account as eBay see this as feedback manipulation. It may not happen right away but it will happen. I receive countless emails from people who have lost their accounts because they sold 1 cent digital items. Some have had feedback in their 1000s and their account has been suspended and their business is over. All because they sold a few 1 cent eBooks. So my advice to you is don't do it.

Great Advice. Never really understood why it was allowed anyway. I always look and see what a seller sells anyway!

Thanks for the tip. Wasn't planning on doing it, but good info to have none the less. :-)

I do a free gospel tract, but it's not for ratings. It is part of my inventory and a ministry of ours.

Hi, You can buy my eBook quite safely, have a look, but it's not 1 cent it's £1.99. Hope this doesn't give anyone genuinely selling eBooks a bad name. Best wishes, Chris

Yes, so many sellers out there selling ebooks for just a penny and selling in open auction formats. Can you be suspended for selling ebooks in auction format instead of fixed price?

I suppose the answer to the two comments above me, has already answered. If it is deemed to be feedback manipulation then you lose your account. It must also make it difficult for those members who are trying to sell e-books with genuine intent.

I did actually try this once recently at the advice of ... person, but NOT for feedback purposes. Buyer did have that intention however, since he sent me an e-mail when I did'nt post + feedback immediately and buyer never even downloaded the ebook! hmmm... I had posted same/similar ebook a 2nd time, but pulled it down after seeing this message and realizing this 'experiment' did not get desired result. Thanks for the heads up!

Agree with planetSMS, it also raises the issue of is the seller trying to get good feedback before pulling a fast one. Why is this individual buying many of the same items? If you check my profile, I buy in several categories, not to promote eBay, but to say here is someone who is a genuine buyer and seller. eBay, like any other business cannot be faked, buyers/bidders will grow in confidence also with the length of time you have been trading. This is after all the entire idea of feedback in the first place
