Most Recent Posts High Noon Behind Botero in MiamiPosted Mar-04-08 05:27:16 PST Updated Mar-04-08 05:28:48 PST Had a glorious south Florida day with my friends, Kim and Barbara at the 6th Annual International Orchid Festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
Hard to imagine a better setting to catch up on reading Alyson Stanfield’s “I’d Rather Be In The Studio”( although definitely not the case here) Took a break from shooting orchids and couldn’t resist capturing this PR moment!
Back in the studio today, and much happier since getting out to enjoy my favorite inspirational place. More images coming soon of Botero’s, the orchid devas and new artworks. Excited now to get back to creating more art! Artist's Day Off to International Orchid Festival!Posted Mar-01-08 18:21:15 PST Updated Mar-01-08 18:22:55 PST On Thursday evening I had an early preview of the award winning Orchids at Fairchild’s Annual Orchid Festival. (Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens is high on my list of inspirational nature sites, and I also volunteer there whenever I can. Keeps me in touch and gets me out of the studio*) Took about 80 pictures on Thursday night but am not satisfied with them, so will head back today in an attempt to capture the images in my head. Orchids are, so far, the most animated, charicature-like creations of Mother Nature that I have had the pleasure to experience. ALSO must add that there are now Boteroand Lichtenstein sculptures on the grounds of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Coral Gables, Florida… in addition to the very organic and multidimensional Chihuly glass. And… a little self promo here, The Shop at Fairchild carries a selection of Nature's Energy Handbags that I designed exclusively for the Shop. Check back in a month to see the resulting artworks… or better yet, sign up for my monthly newsletter and you’ll not only get to see the work but will also receive special member’s only pricing, be eligible for my monthly giveaways and instantly receive a link to download a FREE 2008 Nature’s Reflections Calendar.

| INTERVIEW Tell us a bit about yourself (name, location, affiliations, personal stuff). | My name is Erin Inglis. I’m 27 years old. I have 5 gray hairs, a cat named Stephen, a pair of ice skates I have never used, a lot of arts and crafts supplies, two broken DVD players, a loveseat that I love (duh), and a mild shopping addiction. I live in Vermont where I work as cookie eater in a little bakery. I’m very good at it. Probably the best. It’s hard to say for sure though. I’m awkward, I hate doing laundry, sometimes I speak in a really bad Russian accent, I have never carved my Dad’s name into his dining room table (he did it), and I’m terrible at returning emails to family members (I have no idea why). Read the entire interview and see more of Erin’s awesome work at http://www.erininglis.com She’s the featured artist on Etsy this weekend and I’m her very, very proud Mother! |
