A little Bad at Halloween is not enough Bad Time

Who's snooped around their teens room?

I admit it. Shame on me. I don't know if its curiousity or just making sure she's on the right track. Dr. Phil says it's ok so I'm going with that. Is it a parental right? Is it ok to snoop in drawers, read their text messages, check them out at the mall, etc..

I will not listen in on my daughters phone conversations. Well, in all honesty, I do hear her talking. Just not the other side and I won't pick up the phone to eavesdrop. Thats bad. Snooping around her drawers? I've done that a couple of times. But it's not because I'm nosey. It's to make sure she's 'ok'. Does that make sense? We gotta keep our kids on track. Too much crap is out there and influences???? Lots of influences out there!

No. I do not want her snooping in my room. Finding some of the things she'd find in there, she'd die of embarressment! lol...

So, is it justifiable? Do dads do this?

Oh, I found a rubber in her backpack once cuz I was cleaning it out becuase she never did. She swore up and down it was 'her friends'. Uh huh....I told her it was NOT a good idea to keep a 'friends' rubber and at least her 'friend' was playing it safe. hmmmm

hi apple! I snoop every chance I get. I found a condom in my son's wallet. It's been in the same position for 6 months. I think its more or less for his friends to see :)

that's not snooping, that's called parenting. These days that's what it takes to keep children safe. I'm not a big fan of democracy when it comes to teens, the world is too scary. Good for you, you're doing the right thing

Your not serious. It's a mothers job to snoop into their kids rooms, and look on the computer and see that they are not talking to pedofiles. It's our job to keep them safe. But I don't say anthing about little stuff.

lOl on the friend's rubber. Yes it's great her Friend is playing it safe but if her Friend is using them she might thing of also going on the pill and using a condom. Condom's are great for stopping STD's but nothing is better than the pill to stop the little people from showing up on her Friends mothers door.

Yes it does make sense that you would do that. I look in fear of finding something that I shouldn't. They stress to the parent to 'keep an eye' on your child.. so I take it, that is what they mean.

Of course it's okay.....this is YOUR house......

I did it with all of our boys.....the thing is, when they quit talking about what they are doing, you should start looking around...I have completed eight teenagers to date.....trust your instincts......

When I was young no...now yes. I do not have kids but they are getting into harmful things & behaviors at a much earlier age now. People in general are more desensitized to violence. Moral issues are not in play as much. This is also the AGE OF MEISM! Me Me Me! She may not understand or know what you did but it is good to hear of a parent taking an active role. Too many nowadays just let their kids run amuck!! Just go to the Supermarket, Library or Target!!

The unfortunate thing is that we assume they need less supervision when they are teens; truth is they need more......they make life altering decisions without thinking them through.....

My hubby read over my shoulder and laughed out loud...he reminded me of the time we found a box of porn in the boys' room (we had 4 teenage boys at the time). We confiscated it and left it on top of the fridge for 2 days...no one claimed it of course....we then destroyed the contents AND CURIOUSLY, NO ONE EVER SAID A WORD ABOUT IT!!!!LOL!!!!

I checked out my daughters cell phone texting. She has a reply on there that she was blazin'. I left her a note on the table and said 'I want to talk to you after school. That is if you're not too busy BLAZING!'. She was VERY upset and started blabbing away about her friends being in the car and she didn't smoke and she hates smoking drugs (she's really a church goer and hates drugs. I already knew this). I said I didn't even know about THAT incident. A 'parent' called me and said they overheard her talking about it. She wanted to know which parent and she was crying and said she doesn't do that and I told her....

Daughter, if you don't do drugs, do not pretend to be something you're not. Be who you are. Don't let someone decide who you are. If they aren't going to like you becuase you don't smoke pot, then they aren't your friends.

I didn't get into my smoking :)

Oh and I find lots of F reports in her room too! GRRRRR GROUNDED!

love this thread. Thanks all for posting and would love to continue it if I can.
