ok, still alittle confused on Priority Shipping :(

I went to the usps place on ebay and saw the boxes that can be ordered. As I can see, two boxes are Priority Flat Rate shipping boxes which are white and the rest of the boxes are Priority Shipping which are white.

Someone said earlie that I can wrap the priority mail in brown paper and get 'priority' stickers for the package if they are going priority. Correct? But there's no need to wrap them since there are priority boxes correct?

I don't understand the difference between flat rate priority and regular priority. They both get delivered in the same amount of time but it looks like regular priority is cheaper.

Maybe I should say screw it and just send parcel post??? :D

Flat Rate is good for very heavy items ~ one price no matter if you mail rocks~ the other goes by weight

Hi pois, Flat rate can be cheaper but not necessarily. I always weigh and see what's best on usps.com.

You can send any package priority. It doesn't need a special priority box or envelope.

If you used an envelope or paper it might cost less and be more likely to sell with the less shipping cost.

Flat rate is good for heavy items. You just have to price them out depending on weight of your items. I use flat rate often for big orders - I believe the weight is up to 70 lbs. as long as it fits in the box. AND the boxes are free so no expense for supplies there to wrap with brown paper for any type of priority shipping.

flat rate priority, you can put in very heavy objects, up to 70 pounds, but if you tried shipping 70 pounds regular priority that would cost ya ALOT


But if regular priority is cheaper, then go with that :)

The boxes from USPS never fit my stuff so I use my own wrapping and mailers and just put a priority sticker on the package. You can just write Priority Mail on it and it's fine. But weighing your item is the most important thing. Weigh it with the packing materials and use a USPS postal scale. You can buy them on Ebay or from the USPS.

The "flat rate priority" boxes are marked as such. They have a set fee for shipping but you can put a lot of weight in them for the set flat rate fee. The boxes marked "priority" will be charged by weight. I myself would never cover any USPS box over with brown paper as I would be afraid of getting in trouble.

ok, I think I have it now. :) I did look for priority stickers where you order free boxes but I couldn't find any :(

I FINALLY ordered a scale and it should be here in a couple days. Much needed for a buyer. I have found numerous times that after I print a shipping label and go to the p.o., the cost of shipping is sometimes almost 2.00 more. Well chit. :)

You can cover USPS boxes with either white or brown paper. You can also cut one end off a box and use it to extend another box. Just make sure it is taped good. I have a client that works for the post office and she does it all the time. Also the post mistress is a client and she is the one that suggested I extend the box with the end of another box because the one I had was 2" short. So I did and it worked out great.
