My history on eBay so far to date(3 of 3)

STAR RATING SCORE STUCK STILL/NOT MOVING-BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BROUGHT ANYTHING MORE/OR, DO ONLY BUY FROM ALL OF THE SAME SELLERS, AGAIN AND AGAIN

Wow! Already it's a brand New Year. Which means I've been here buying on eBay now for over 6 months long/(still haven't sold anything, yet). Well, I don't have too many regrets that I did join up. The one biggest regret that I have is that I'm just not rich enough to be able to buy everything I ever wanted on here??? Well, who knows, maybe, one day I might be able to win the National Lottery!!!

I can see, too, that just like I had imagined it would be, it's not easy to get to the next star up which, I believe, is light blue(100+). But, at 82, at least, I'm very slowly getting there.

FRUSTRATED, GOT NO MONEY LEFT TO GO BUY ANYTHING ELSE!

I'm still here at eBay; still interested in buying more art; if anything my interest in art grows more and more each day; and, certainly, not less. Only trouble is all of my funds have totally dried up. Therefore, even though I want to buy this, that, and, the other. Quite honestly, because I just CANNOT afford it; therefore, I can't! This situation for me is VERY fustrating, indeed!

What's even more fustrating is that eBay recently made me an offer; that for every £1.00 spent then they will give me 5 points; and, when enough points have been accumlated I can, then, exchange these points for further goods. The current points offer is set to run for 2 months long; and, I registered only yesterday. But, like I said I'm totally flat broke...; so how am I going to accumulate points if I ain't even buying anything?!

JUST DID ANOTHER BID RETRACTION

I went and made another very stupid mistake of placing a £99.00 bid/when what I really meant was to place a bid of only £0.99p, instead! -(I think, I must have made this same mistake, at least, 3 times in all.)- Through just not concentrating...trying to do far too many things all togeather at once on the computer. Anyway, I did a bid retraction...which, unfortunately, does stay as a black mark on one's eBay a/c.; and, for a very long time to come(namely, over 6+ months)! Gotta learn to concentrate more when I'm buying stuff; I guess, I figured, £0.99p ain't much...so, I don't need to go concentrate far too hard/just take it really lightly...-which I would have done had it been for a larger amount of money-...but, no, I was wrong; anything which is related to buying, and, spending money online needs all of one's fullest concentration!

STAR RATING SCORE MOVED UP BY +1 (83)/BUT, I'M NOT SURE WHY?! BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BROUGHT ANYTHING FROM ANYBODY NEW

Well, I just signed in to my eBay a/c. And, my star rating had just shot up by a +1 to become 83. However, what I can't understand is...I haven't brought anything from  'new' sellers...so why should it have moved up by +1?! Anyway, I certainly don't loose anything by it moving up by +1; therefore, I'm not going to complain.

RECIEVED LETTER FROM EBAY

Oh, and, recently eBay sent me a letter offering me 2 things...

a> A special phone number to ring for being a star customer.
b> A £10.00 voucher to spend on anything I want.

STILL WAITING TO RECIEVE ART ITEMS I ORDERED 3 MONTHS BACK

Around 3 months ago. I ordered some art items from one seller. Only the package was not recieved by me. Therefore, the seller refunded all of my money back in full. Then, afterwards, they said they did recieve the package back as being undelivered!  They asked me if I wanted to buy it still? I answered them that I was far too broke at the moment to be able to afford it. They then suggested that they will hold on to the art package for 3 months until when March 08 comes. Sure enough, it's now March; so, I went an wrote them if it's still possible to send the package to me, again. They replied yes they still have it...and, will send...I can pay whenever I have recieved it...also, they insured it, as well.

UPDATE:
Today, 11th March 2008 I recieved the package; was delighted with its contents. And, have just gone and paid for it, right away, same day. :-)

FINALLY GOT MY EBAY RATINGS LIGHT BLUE 100+ STAR

Today, I went and signed into my eBay a/c. And, suddenly, discovered that my star has gone from being Dark Blue(under 100)/to Light Blue(over 100+). Took me over 1 whole entire year just to get there. But, now, I'm thinking it's going to take me even longer still to get to the next star rating...which, I think, is something like 500+ items!!! Going at my current rate of purchasing...that should take me the next 5 years!

=========================

20th July 2008

STAR RATING: 347

I'm getting closer to the next star rating of 500+; but, boy, is it going to take me a long time to get there; quite possibly, 2 to 3 more months! I will need 153+ more positive ratings.

STILL HAVEN'T SOLD EVEN A SINGLE THING, YET?!

As usual, my biggest problem is...I'm constantly buying stuff/but, just not selling anything; this means, I have only outgoings, alone/and, absolutely no incomings; so, I will 'need' to fix this soon; and, the sooner the better; long before I end up going totally flat broke!

I'M LOYAL TO CERTAIN SPECIFIC SELLERS

Frequently, my dealings are with the exact same sellers, again and again; most of whom I started buying from straight from the start. It's a case of having built up a lot of trust in them over time; they are warm, friendly, courteous/have really good communication skills/also, their product is well presented/and, very carefully packaged/they do send fast/and, too, are willing to allow me discounted postage and packing whenever one buys multiple items from their store; another reason why I tend to remain loyal is, quite simply, because I really and truly like their products; I mean, even to the point where I almost feel I can't resist buying it('quality' is the key)!

NOTE: All of these are extremely good lessons for me to learn; and, to very carefully have to consider; whenever I decide to become a seller myself, at some point, in future.

12th August 2008

STAR RATING: 390

I thought I would write this post just to note that today it says I've gone and left...
1001 feedbacks
...and, also, received...
1001 feedbacks
...from others.

Of course, most of those orders were repeat buys...such as when I ordered multiple items from one single store. But, then, again, it doesn't include those who did not leave me with any feedback, at all?!

According to the ebay records it says so far to date I've gone and brought goods from 285 unique sellers. So, if the feedback says 1001...that must mean I buy at least 4 repeat purchases from each seller.

Looks like it's going to take many more months before my star rating gets to 500...-which is the next coloured star up-...I need 110 more unique seller feedbacks, though. Well, nothing to worry about...just let it happen when it does over time...just got to be patient enough to wait.

BUYER/SELLER DISPUTE

I had a really bad experience lately. I bid on all of a sellers artworks thinking they'd be well and truly grateful for my custom. But, instead, they went and cancelled all of my bids; and, then, wrote loads of false messages stating that the reason for the cancellation was because I had no funds to buy the goods! I only learnt about it this morning when I tried signing in to my Yahoo email...only to be faced with a whole load of bid cancellation letters.

I next got in touch with ebay themselves; and, they told me that the seller has a right to cancel items if they wish. I then asked what about writing false notes about me stating that I can't afford to pay? Ebay phone operators told me that I should try contacting the seller directly through email, which I did.

After going through a load of explanations to clear up the misunderstanding; and, also, after sending them the money to pay for the goods; of which I even overpaid on postage and packing(paying 3 x P&P instead of 1 x P&P); the seller finally decided to agree with me that I was in the right, and, they were in the wrong; made their apologies; unblocked me from buying any further goods from their store; and, basically, promised they would do everything in their power to go correct the situation; including leaving me with positive feedback-which included an apology admitting they were in the wrong.

What totally shocked me, though; was just how fast a serious misunderstanding can occur; and, just how quickly it can escalate going almost totally out of control! Basically, I brought 3 goods...the auction closed on the 20th for 2 items/and, the 3rd item auction closed on the 21st; I then went and paid for everything on the 22nd August 2008. So, just because I didn't pay instantly straight away the same day; -(because I was still bidding on multiple items/therefore, I was waiting until when the auction ends; before paying for everything)-; the seller decided to put a black mark against my name; they couldn't even be bothered to wait the standard 7 days to recieve payment; and, didn't offer me any second chances at all; before choosing to go write wholly negative things about me.

I find this thought really most deeply disturbing! One minute you are an angel with nothing else but 'positive' feedback; the next minute it's like you've suddenly become a devil; and, people are saying all sorts of really nasty things about you both behind your back, and, also, in front of your face; whether you do truly deserve it or not!

UPDATE: Eventually, I managed to reach some agreement with this seller; and, so, I went back to bidding on their goods again.

PAID FOR ITEMS GONE MISSING!!! GOT PAYPAL REFUND...

One seller -a lady- from whom I buy items regularly; I made an order for 16 items/10 of which went missing; I'm not too sure if all items were sent inside of one package/or, multiple packages. At first, when I complained to them, again and again, that I didn't receive the items; their rather glib response was that I should wait another week; but, I responded ebay keeps placing messages next to each missing item that the deadline for filing a dispute is fast running out. Anyway, eventually, they decided to concur with me that the items really did go missing; and, gave me a full PayPal refund for all of the missing items. I told them if any of the items do turn up; I will pay for them, immediately, as well as leave feedback. The odd thing there though is that this story is about an older order; there is a more recent order for 38 items/where 20 items still have not turned up yet??? So, I'm hoping and praying that I don't have to go request they pay me back for all 20 missing items, as well. Right now, though, I'm still here very patiently waiting.

The major problem here is I told the person; just send everything inside of one single package/don't break it up into multiples; but, they replied that they had 2 concerns...1, that customs would suspect a big package and thus introduce extra customs charges/and, 2, that they were worried about loosing lots of work being all placed inside of one package, alone. But, I told them you need to send everything 'fully insured'/and, insist that the package is 'signed for on delivery'. That way if the package goes missing you will be compensated financially/and, also, the buyer can't claim anything went missing-if they were forced to sign as proof that they did, in fact, recieve it. Anyway, it appears that at last this person has finally decided to agree with my own advice; telling me that will be their policy from now on, in future.

STAR RATING: 500

Finally, made it to a purple star; and, boy, was it really difficult getting there; took me something like a whole year to be able to achieve; but, of course, it will take me even far longer to get to the next star rating upwards.

My history on eBay so far to date(2 of 3)

17th May 2007

SAW MESSAGE AFTER HAVING ALREADY GONE AND PAID FOR GOODS THROUGH USING PAYPAL....; MESSAGE SAID: THIS USER NO LONGER REGISTERED WITH EBAY

Lately, I had a huge scare. I had already gone and paid for 2 x items both costing me a total of around £28.00. Only when I went and checked my eBay page, the message next to the said items said, 'This user no longer registered with eBay.'  I then started thinking to myself, maybe, this is me suffering my first eBay rip off; that the user had gone and taken all my money; and, then had, quite simply, run! Only I noticed that they had left me feedback to say, that I was a pompt payer. So, I thought it a little bit funny that they had left feedback, first; and, then, decided to go run off; I mean, why even bother to leave feedback if all you wish to do is just steal some money?! So, I read a few of the rules...; and, it advised me to go open up a dispute if the goods were not yet recieved; but, I think, the article also said something about waiting 45 days!

Anyway, to cut a long story short...; today, I recieved both of the goods that I ordered...; and, I'm also very highly pleased with the quality of these DVD's. So, all of that endless worrying was really for absolutely nothing.

Frankly, I have heard a few bad stories about buying goods at eBay...; and, that for some people goods they ordered had not turned up. But, all I can say is that in my own experience of being a regular eBay buyer...; so far to date I've brought about 70+ items...; and, absolutely everything has turned up(touchwood)...; so, personally speaking, I honestly have no complaints.

LEFT FEEDBACK/BUT, FORGOT TO MARK THE STAR RATINGS

Today, I went and added some Feedback about an item I had brought on eBay; but, I forgot to check the star ratings; the trouble there was when I tried hitting my web browser back button to go and leave the star ratings it wouldn't let me; instead, it said Feedback already left for this item. Therefore, in future, I must remember to check that both Feedback/and, the star ratings are marked; before sending in the Feedback.

MY CURRENT FEEDBACK SCORE

Currently, my Feedback score says: 37; when it says 50, then, I believe I will have earned my next -second- star up the eBay ladder(blue, I think?!); frankly, I really can't wait for that wonderful moment to arrive?! I notice though that  it says my actual Feedback is 117; which basically means that I've already gone well past the 50 items brought stage; only most of these people who I brought goods from were repeat sellers; and, as you only get no more than a +1 added to your score from each repeat seller -no matter how many goods you've brought from them-; therefore, that explains why my total score still says merely 37.  I suppose it also means that on average I tend to buy from the each seller, at least, 3 items; this simply means I prefer to buy from those who I trust though having gone and done business previously with them before..

FEEDBACK PROBLEMS - I 'ALWAYS' LEAVE FEEDBACK/BUT, DON'T 'ALWAYS' RECEIVE FEEDBACK FROM OTHERS?!

When I bought something; and, have received it; then, I will as soon as possible go and try it out...just to see if it works or not?!/Or, do take it out of the parcel to see that the correct goods have been delivered, and, that everything is in order; then, straight away, after having checked out the goods, and, found everything to be ok; I go and leave the appropriate 'positive' feedback.

However, I've found that some people -even though you've gone and left them 'positive' feedback- do NOT return any feedback for you. If I think they may have forgotten to go and leave feedback...I try and send them a friendly reminder...sometimes they respond immediately right away by leaving the feedback/and, other times not...just seeming to ignore the reminder altogether...then, I think to myself what the hell do I do now(after all, I don't wish to sound like a constant complainer by begging them constantly for feedback)?!

One person, I remember corresponding with was relatively 'new' to eBay and didn't know how to go about leaving feedback; instead, they tried to leave me feedback by sending it to me through an email! Then, I went and checked out eBay help files to see if I could find the appropriate info. to send them telling them how to do it...I sent them the info./they sent me a reply stating they'd received the instructions and was studying it...and, still I haven't received any feedback from them to date???

So, I guess, eBay can be a little bit strange sometimes in that some people leave feedback/and, some just don't! Something I'll just have to lfigure out learning how to live with.

LATEST UPDATE
I did try expressing this problem to another seller who I brought goods from. They explained to me that they had 150+ brought items with NO FEEDBACK. And, that they no longer let it bother them, anymore! So, I guess, after a while it's possible to become really thick skinned about it all, and, just completely ignore it.

ANOTHER 'THIS USER NO LONG REGISTERED WITH EBAY' MESSAGE!/ALSO, CONCERNING REALLY SLOW DELIVERY

I went and brought 15 x art items from one single seller's store. Only when I went to go and ask them why the goods I'd brought were not received yet; the message next to their name said, 'This user no longer registered with eBay!' Well, as this is not the first time that I've seen that message before;-(this is the 2nd time, actually)-; therefore, I decided to go and send them a communication, anyway. Sure enough they responded, immediately, straight away; and, said they would be sending soon(even said they would include 1 item FREE). So, I'm still here waiting...; been waiting over 1 month long, now...; and, still waiting...

NOTE: This persons art is really good; and, also, cheap; so I both love, and, can afford to go buy it; however, delivery is so damned slow; and, that's the one and only catch; it's not that the goods never arrive; because, eventually, they do turn up either sooner or later; though, in this particular case, it's usually, later! I really have to wonder to myself, though...what is the difficulty why they can't just send the goods straight away/at least, within a couple weeks?! If they were to explain, then, maybe I could understand a lot more; only there's no such explanation being given to me at all.

LATEST UPDATE
After placing the order on 6th June 2007; finally, I did receive all 15 x art drawings -(+ 1 free)- on 14th July 2007. And, I also went and left the appropriate feedback. Only I feel I may have gone and overdid it. Because, although the feedback I left was of a 'positive' nature; but, it also included some negatives, as well...such as, 'SLOW delivery; but, GOOD drawings'.

-(I note if you want your FEEDBACK left for SELLERS to read good; then, you can't be too honest/or else, some of it is going to read 'bad'!)-

Let me explain how this situation all came about, I had already gone and brought some drawings from this person, before; but, I had noted that their delivery was really SLOW. I then told them I would like to buy more from them...; but, only if they would deliver sooner...; and, they promised me they would send everything brought within a week...; well, after buying more of their work, I had to go and write them each week explaining that nothing had turned up, yet?! And, they would immediately reply back to me that they would send, soon...; that's why I got so fed up with them...-not really understanding why don't they just send right away?! If they had explained to me why...; then, I'm sure, I would have sympathised; but, they didn't give me any explanation, at all; so, I felt confused, and, never truly understood the reasons for the SLOW delivery?!

AN 'ORIGINAL' DRAWING I'D BROUGHT IS BEING RESOLD AS 'ORIGINAL' ALL OVER AGAIN?!

I went and checked out my Yahoo email. It said bid confirmed from a seller who I'd already gone and done business with, before. But, then, when I scrolled downwards through the email...I saw being advertised a drawing which I thought I'd already brought?! Therefore, I decided to go and check...; sure enough eBay records said, yes, I'd already brought it. Therefore, I sent the seller a message asking how comes your drawing was advertised as being an 'original' that I thought was wholly unique/and, now, you are re-selling the very same drawing, all over again? Still waiting to hear the response...

LATEST UPDATE
The sellers reply to me was that it was all a mistake in the relisting; and, said they they would immediately fix it. I replied, 'thanks very much for your response'.

To my mind the word 'original' means wholly unique, and, a 1-off. However, to other people's minds, it appears that the word 'original' merely means...that they created that unique design...and, therefore, can recreate it again and again, by say redrawing it -or, otherwise, reproducing it- and, then, resell it again whilst still referring to it as being  called, an 'original'. But, this is certainly not what that term means to me, at all?! To me, a 1-off is meant to be a 1-off, period/and, if it's reproduced, then, it should be advertised as being a 'print', instead. (Anyway, this is the 2nd time I've come across this kind of problem here on eBay; it makes you no longer believe in the use of the word 'original', anymore!)

POSTAGE & PACKING CHARGES - SHEER DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!!!

I went and brought 2 x martial arts items for a total cost of £20.00. Today, I received the parcel. Only guess what amount the P&P charges came to, yes, £20.00!  Total: £40.00 charge! The P&P costs as much as the total cost of the goods themselves; and, I think, that's completely RIDICULOUS! That's why I feel that eBay is NOT a very good way to have to purchase certain goods; especially, if those goods are HEAVYWEIGHT goods that you could just as easily buy from the shops without having to incur any TOTAL RIP OFF P&P costs. Next time, I'll go down to the shop in London's Soho/Chinatown area, where there is a shop called, Shaolin Way, -(located opposite Leicester Square tube station)- and, buy my martial arts equipment using either cash or card; of course, there's the slight inconvenience of having to carry the stuff home on the bus; but, then, I would have saved myself £20.00 which I could have used to buy twice the amount of goods I've received.

GUESTBOOK MODULE ADDED ONTO MY WORLD PAGE

I just went and visited pramgoat My World page...; and, decided to add another module...; namely, the Guestbook. I'm wondering just how many people are likely to sign it??? Because, I often wondered to myself who is reading this blog...; or, who has visited My World page...; at least, now, there is a way of getting to record people who are visitors to my page-that is, if the guests themselves do decide it's truly worthwhile leaving a message.

LATEST UPDATE:

-(I added the guestbook on 9th July 2007. Today's date is, 15th July 2007; and, still nobody has signed my guestbook, yet?! Of course, there is the possibility that some read/and, just don't bother to leave comments. And, there is another possibility that nobody is reading this excepting only me, alone! Either way, it's no big deal to me. The main thing I wanted to know was how to go about setting it up.)-

STUDYING HOW TO WRITE EBAY REVIEWS/GUIDES

Right now, I'm studying how to write ebay reviews/and, guides. I think, I might be able to write a review or two; but, I'm not so sure that I'm  fully qualified enough to be able to write a guide. Anyway, this is another module I may just add onto my eBay My World page.

http://reviews.ebay.com/

I been reading through a few of these guides, and, I think, they're really great. I used the search term: Martial Arts; and, the results that got returned to me made some truly fantastic reading. I must promise myself to read a lot more of these wonderful guides.

JOINED AUCTIVA FOR SELLING

Many times I've seen the name, Auctiva, being mentioned in regards to selling items on eBay; I also noted that the advert says Auctiva is FREE. Therefore, I decided today why not sign up with them to join; just to find out what it's alike? Right now, I'm still in the process of reading up about this...; and, trying to understand the UI-user interface. Who knows, maybe, through using this FREE software I will eventually learn how to sell/on top of what I already know which is how to buy.

LATEST UPDATE: MY FIRST EBAY/AUCTIVA PEN & INK ON A4 PAPER DRAWING HAS BEEN PUT UP FOR 7 DAY SALE

Well, I've just gone and created a listing for sale; of a pen and ink cat drawing I'd copied from a 2nd hand book; which I'd brought from down at my local charity shop. If it sells, then, good. But, if not; then, I'll just look at it as being another lesson; at least, I'll now know exactly how to set up an item for sale using both eBay/Auctiva.

LATEST UPDATE - BEEN A WEEK LONG, AND, MY DRAWING STILL REMAINS UNSOLD
I put up my cat sketch drawing for sale last week Sunday for 7 days; I see now that there are only 12 more hours left to go; and, nobody has choosen to bid on the item, yet?! Therefore, I'm thinking to myself it's just as I had already suspected that my drawings just aren't good enough to be sold on eBay. Honestly, I can fully understand that; because whenever I look at the sheer quality of the work that other people do here on eBay, then, I can quite clearly see they are like masters; whereas me I'm still merely a total amateur artist, instead.

FINAL UPDATE TO MY LATEST -(2ND)- AUCTION SALE
The drawing went UNSOLD. I did however notice a button/or, link saying [Relist] item. However, I'm not too sure that I wish to do that? Because, I'm thinking maybe my presentation wasn't quite right; possibly; -(though it was certainly a lot better than the first time I tried selling a drawing here on ebay; as I thought about this one a lot more)-; maybe, I should have taken a few more photos/especially, in regards to how the package would be sent? And, there are many other factors which I still need to have a really good think about; such as, what  options to allow for purchasing(I choose PayPal, only/maybe, I should have choosen more)? Another really obvious mistake I made was I forgot to go and check if the item was actually being listed on eBay by going and doing my own search; but, instead, I merely took this fact entirely for granted! One more thing I'm thinking of doing is putting up a different item for sale, instead; because, I'm not too sure I really want to part with this particular drawing, anyway?! I like it too much; and, therefore, would rather keep it for myself. In fact, I think, that's going to be by far my biggest drawback to selling my own drawings on eBay; having to go sell drawings that I'd much rather keep..

TRYING TO LEARN MARTIAL ARTS BY READING BOOKS/OR, WATCHING DVD'S IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE!!!

In my own very bitter experience so far to date I've found that it's just NOT possible to learn martial arts simply by buying and reading books/or else, by watching either Videos/or, DVD's. I suppose it's rather like learning to become a marathon runner simply by laying back, and, reading books/or, watching TV shows all about running; sure, you can learn a few things such as the history/the superstars/the theory/what gear to wear/terminologies/and, -etc. But, this is essentially a 'physical' art.../and, therefore,  you need to engage with it 'physically' in order to learn. But, 'physical' arts cannot be learnt 'cerebrally', alone. In this sense I do feel very deeply disappointed, indeed; that after buying so many martial arts DVD's...I must confess that I do feel sort of 'totally ripped off!' In that I feel I've actually learnt nothing on a purely 'physical' level; however, on a purely 'mental' level, I have learnt that there are many different arts out there still to go and study.

READING UP HOW TO LIST ITEMS INSIDE OF ONE'S OWN EBAY STORE

Early morning, and, I'm currently reading up about how to list multiple items for sale inside of your own eBay store. However, judging from what I've read so far it would appear that this option might not be suitable for me; as I still have to sell even a single item, yet?! Only when I am  successful at selling multiple items should I seriously consider trying to build my own eBay store. However, reading up about it is worthwhile so that I can be fully prepared and know about exactly what to do in future.

TRIED USING BID ASSIST FOR THE FIRST TIME

I wanted to understand how Bid Assistant works. Basically, it allows you to select a group of items -(up to a maximum of 10 items)- that you are watching...and, then, place either one single bid amount to buy these/or, variable amounts to buy each item...; you give the group of items a name such as: Group1...; and, then, Bid Assistant will automatically keep on bidding for you...up to your maximum bid amount until just 'one' of the items in the group is won...when just 'one' item in the group is won; then, the bidding stops...starting with the very first item that is currently due for sale/and, thus, proceeding up until the last item is due for sale. At least, this is what I so far have been able to work out by reading about it; then, finally, I decided to go and do it in order to more fully understand. An interesting point to note is that once you've placed a certain maximum bid amount...; then, you cannot later on 'decrease' this...; but, you are allowed to 'increase' it by editing the max bid amount. The current max bid amount I placed to cover all items is £5.00.

MY AVERAGE MONTHLY BUYS

I started buying on eBay 24th Feburary 2007/and, the date today is now 25th July 2007/which is a 6 month period. According to my Feedback Left For Others I've already brought 198 items. That means on average I tend to buy 40 x eBay items per month. I think, close to half of that total (45%) would be art items/and, the other half (45%) would be related to martial arts/the rest of the items (9%) are electronic goods, instead/and, a very small proportion being books(1%). With the average price of the item being somewhere around the £10-20 mark.

I'm really interested in these sort of revealing statisics; because for me it says that many of my buying habits have changed. I never used to buy goods online so much before. The only place I used to regularly buy goods from would be the online bookstore: Amazon.co.uk. And, I still prefer to buy books from there(due to less P&P charges/P&P is FREE if you buy goods over a certain amount such as £20.00+).

BROUGHT ITEMS/SOLD NONE
Well, I'm still here buying eBay items. And, still haven't managed to sell even a single thing, yet; nevermind, one of my own drawings! Frankly, it's very highly addictive buying stuff here on eBay; and, for sure, if I had a million pounds, then, I would never stop buying! However, being still unemployed therefore I must admit that I'm finding the going really tough.

FEEDBACK SCORE: 48/SO, NO NAVY BLUE STAR, YET!
I notice that my feedback score still remains at 48; meaning, I've still not won a navy blue star, yet; not until when my feedback says 50. However, to be perfectly honest, I really don't care too much if I gain a blue star or not; because winning stars is not what I'm about; to me, what really and truly matters is the sheer quality of the goods one buys; if you are delighted with what you got or not; and, usually, -far more often than not- I'm happy; it's very rare I get goods sent to me that are complete crap(maybe, 1% of the time/99% of the time everything is fine)!

FEEDBACK LEFT FOR OTHERS(215)/MOSTLY, REPEAT BUYS, FROM A MERE HANDFUL OF SELLERS
Judging by my current 'feedback left for others score' which today says, 215. One might presume that I buy on average 4 items from each buyer...; which would, of course, explain why my total feedback score is still only 48. -(Bear in mind, though, that some people who you buy from don't bother to leave you any feedback at all whatsoever! Competely regardless of the fact that you went and left feedback for them.)- However, when I think about this 215 figure a little bit harder...; I suddenly realise that the truth is many of these purchases are, in fact, repeat buys from just a mere handful of sellers, alone. For example, with one favourite artist of mine, I tend to buy work from him almost every week; especially as his works tend to go really cheap; with bidding starting from £0.99p. I think, I must have already gone and brought over 20+ items from him/and, that's a very highly 'conservative' estimate, indeed! Similarly, there is more than one  favourite artist who's work I tend to buy repeatedly; though, in all, these artists can be counted up as being on one hand; but, I simply find their works most utterly irresistable?! With some sellers, however, I only buy from them just once, and, then, never ever again; which is not necessarily because I don't like their work(some people's work I really don't like!); but, if say I have £10.00 to spend/and, there is a choice of artists work to go and choose from/then, quite naturally, I'm going to choose my most favourite artist; instead, of buying somebody's else work that I don't really yet know/or, I think, maybe 2nd rate! Too, another factor that plays a part is I feel much safer dealing withsomebody who I've dealt with before. What I'm trying to say is, a certain amount of loyalty gets build up inside of you. However, that certainly doesn't mean if I see unknown works that I think are well and truly excellent -or, better- that I  wouldn't suddenly choose to go switch loyalties, altogeather!

GAINED A NAVY BLUE STAR(AT LAST!)

Finally, won my Navy Blue Star indicating a total of (50) positive feedbacks! :-)

Looks like it's going to take a much longer time to get to the next star level upwards; which, I think, is Light Blue (100).

HAVING DIFFICULTIES RECIEVING AN UNDELIVERED PARCEL WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED, TWICE; REQUESTED 3RD DELIVERY

Around the middle of this August I brought a series of drawings/paintings from an artist who's work I like. Only trouble is he said, that he's already sent me the entire package of drawings, now, twice! And, because I wasn't home, therefore, the package was each time returned back to him. Well, to cut a long story short; today, I went and paid him some extra money to cover his P&P costs; and, then, requested that he try sending me the package, again, for the 3rd time. Hopefully, it will be 3rd time lucky?!

LATEST UPDATE
First, I went down to my local post office/and, also, down to the local post office depot...I got both of these places phone numbers; and, then, wrote an email letter to the guy to go and check things out with them as to why his package still hadn't arrived?! Well, he later on emailed me back to say there had been a mix up because the house number wasn't written very clearly; so, that's why they had tried to deliver to the wrong address! But, now, he'd sorted everything out with them...and, I should return back to the  Royal Mail depot to collect the package. This I did; and, everything was ok when I got back home; finally, I followed up by leaving feedback.

BUYING ART ON EBAY CONTAINS MANY HIDDEN RESPONSIBILITIES

I didn't realise it at first. But, the more art I buy from various sellers on eBay; the more I suddenly realise that I have an unwritten obligation to go look after it all...whether that art is cheap or not! For example, one guy I buy art from, regularly; and, I now own 20 of his works; can you imagine the time, and, effort he has gone and put into it all. Therefore, if I were not to look after his work; then, it would all be destroyed with no record being left! Frankly, I worry quite a lot about having to accept taking on such big responsibilities; because, I'm not too sure I'm really up to the task. I tend to be careless, clumsy, accident prone, make mistakes, -etc. Sometimes, I think, I'd better go hire a storage box somewhere...; and, just stick all of the art work -that I'm not using- in there; and, then, lock the box up and leave it somewhere safe; that way I won't need to go worry about looking after it, personally, anymore; instead, the safe storage place can worry about looking after it.

26th October 2007

Still buying art on eBay...especially, interested in looking to find the cheaper bargins...bidding starting at £0.99p. On the other hand, I've found that some artists work who I used to buy from regularly almost every week; I don't buy their work regularly anymore because the starting bid price has gone up to £4.99p! However, I still can't resist buying work from them every now and then; if I think it's work I absolutely can't resist!

VAN GOGH ART VIDEOS/GOING TO COLLEGE TO GO AND STUDY ART

Started to collect art based videos/DVD's. Today, I recieved artist's Van Gogh's story called, Lust For Life; starring actor, Kirk Douglas. Before, I'd brought 2 x how draw DVD's. I always wanted to become an artist myself; but, just never had enough time/guts?! However, as I'm getting older and older; I'm starting to realise that it's really a case of now or never, maybe?! Yesterday, I went and signed up at Morley College to do an Art course consisting of general drawing/painting; but, right now, it's end of term time; and, next college term starts January. Truly, can't wait! :-).

HAD ONE BIDDER COME CONTACT ME TO GO WORK OUT A DEAL BETWEEN US TO MAKE BUYING CONTESTABLE GOODS FAR CHEAPER

Around 1 week ago a certain bidder contacted me explaining that since we both seem to like bidding on exactly the same 'art' items; why don't we try and work out a deal together so that by agreement one person will stop bidding/and, thus, let the other win  unopposed - and, then, it will be my turn, next. Well, at first, I thought it might be a really good idea - so stopping us having to run up unnecessaraily high bids; however,  today, I got totally fed up of that deal  when the guy asked me to stop bidding on items I really like!  So, I wrote them back a letter saying all negotiations are off; and, from now on let's just continue bidding as normal; namely, may the best man win! -(I also do very deeply regret having lost some other items to him, as well. Bidding is a serious game where one plays to 'win'; therefore, one shouldn't back down to go please another; basically, it's a case of always remember to put your own wants and needs, first; don't let people fool you that their wants and needs are far more important than is your own?!)

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH 2 ORDERS BOTH UNARRIVED

I brought some drawings from America. -(I'm sure, the person said it was possible to track the delivery.)- However, I've still not recieved any package, yet? So, don't really know what to do; but, wait...

LATEST UPDATE: Package missing confirmed. Seller refunded money in full. Seller to make insurance claim.

A Ju Jitsu DVD I brought refuses to work?! Today, I reported the problem to the seller; wondering what their reply to me will be? At first, I got back no reply, at all! Then, I rewrote them, again. This time they said, just return it. So, that's what I'm going to do.

LATEST UPDATE: Still need to return back faulty DVD to seller; but, I've been feeling much too lazy to get up, go out, and, do this! (I think, I might just choose to give up on this one...accepting the small financial loss...which is really all of my own fault for not returning.)

My history on eBay so far to date(1 of 3)

21st March 2002,
EBAY REGISTRATION - (BUT, PAYPAL REGISTRATION DIDN'T WORK?!)
Registered with eBay, successfully.
But, had some difficulties registering my bank a/c. with PayPal; so, feeling unable to both buy/sell anything; therefore, I quit!

17th February 2007
PAYPAL REGISTRATION (DECIDED TO GO TRY PAYPAL REGISTRATION, AGAIN - YES, SUCCESSFUL)
Tried re-registering bank a/c. with PayPal, again; well, this time it worked! Though, it it did take a couple of days to make everything final(they say full registration can take anything between 2-5 days). At last, I can now both search for items/and, also, 'buy'.

24th February 2007
STARTED 'BUYING' AT EBAY
I became a 'buyer' through having searched for/found/bid/brought 5 seperate eBay items(3 art works/1 x 3 set DVD/1 e-book. All ordered on one single day, Sunday. The e-book -(£0.99p)- I both recieved and downloaded the very same day; but, didn't like it; complained(actually, I asked for a full money back refund); I was sent a replacement e-book instead of the refund; the replacement e-book I liked./;-) The 3 art works, and, 3 set of DVD's were all delivered to me -in just two days time -on Tuesday. I was impressed that delivery was that quick! These really cheap art works -(costing around a tenner or less)- aren't necessarily GREAT; but, they certainly are impressive; meaning, I could never draw that well?! The DVD's were good, too; I enjoyed watching them for hours; and, will rewatch again and again, I'm sure; if I like it, then, I don't never wish to part with it, atall. So, these last 4 orders I did have no complaints about whatsoever. I went and gave all of the sellers positive feedback/the which positive feedback they also returned back to me, especially, for being such a quick payer! The reason why I paid so fast, though, was...if I didn't do that...then, I don't think they would have sent me anything?! Therefore, I truly felt that I had no other choice but to both order and pay promply.

4th March 2007
STARTED 'SELLING' AT EBAY
I became a 'seller' at eBay because I put up 2 x MS Paint digital drawings for 7 day sale(start bid price: £0.50/fixed 'buy it now' price: £3.00. These works are for instant download so that means there are no postage costs to pay. Still haven't sold anything yet, though; wondering what the hell it is that I must be doing wrong?! Possibly, my admittedly 'amateur' drawings just simply weren't good enough(wouldn't surprise me, especially when I compare my purely 'amateur' work with others who are 'true' masters)?! Or else, I must have done the listing all wrong...; because, I recall that when I did a search for the stuff I was selling...then, the search results that came back said, nil(nothing found)?! Yet, when I click on my eBay screenname link the profile shows those two items really are up for sale. Hey, no worries, atall. I will simply take my time to go and work everything out, properly; eventually, I'll get the hang of this...(or, at least,  so I hope?!)

5th March 2007
STARTED EBAY BLOG-GOT RESPONSES IMMEDIATELY RIGHT AWAY-EVEN WHILST STILL WRITING/EDITING/RE-PUBLISHING IT!
Today, I started to create this blog. I'd seen the link to it being advertised on the front eBay page; but, I'm afraid, I was far too busy before to even try. So, today, when I saw the same link I thought to myself why not have a go at creating an ebay blog; because, it will be a really good way to get to record everything that happens to me here; including, both good and bad. Sometimes, it's a wonderful thing to have a diary record which you can refer back to, later on...; when you will laugh at the many mistakes you made when you were still a total 'newbie'.

Wow! I just got some more comments to the blog...; don't these nice eBay people help others out tremendously FAST!  I mean, it makes me feel damn stupid that I didn't start this blog a whole lot earlier...; maybe, even before I tried doing any buying/or, selling. Anyway, thanks to the person who said I can customise it...; so, I just did choose a different layout scheme. And, thanks to the other one who said they can't see my selling list, neither...; so, it's NOT just me, alone(hmm...)?! Somebody mentioned something about the date being wrong...but, I see this(Posted 05-Mar-07 21:21:54 GMT Updated 05-Mar-07 21:47:26 GMT)...which certainly looks right to me?!

Just wanted to say thanks again for ALL of your help EVERYBODY! Already, I feel like I'm learning much faster...; and, more to the point that I'm NOT -as I had imagined before- all ALONE! There are other people in this eBay world who are quite willing to help out one another-this makes me feel really GOOD-hopefully, one day, I will be able to help out others in return./;-)

Well, that's my blog all gone and done(started).

Right now, I'm wondering to myself where do I have to go to find other peoples eBay blogs? Because, I'm sure, that's where I will need to go to learn more than I ever could learn solely on my own; simply, by reading up what other people's experiences here has been alike.

Ah, yes, found it...

FREE EBAY TOOLBAR FOR WEB BROWSER

Downloaded FREE eBay Toolbar for my web browser software. This is a GREAT tool because it automatically informs you when an auction is ending/or, when you have just been outbid, and, therefore, are no longer highest bidder. It also has Search, and, many other functions...; most of which I must confess I still haven't discovered or used yet?!

http://pages.ebay.com/ebay_toolbar/

SET A 'FIXED SPENDING LIMIT' ON HOW MUCH YOU ARE ALLOWED TO 'BUY'/THEN, LEARN TO STICK TO IT! -(OTHERWISE, YOU'LL END UP GOING TOTALLY FLAT BROKE!)-
I think I did see/read an eBay online advert which seemed to explain that here there are over 100 million+ items being sold, all over the world!
This means that if you are the type who finds purchasing stuff most utterly irresistable...; then, you will have to very carefully keep hold of the tendency to overspend...; by setting up some sort of careful fixed spending 'limit'...; that is, if you don't wish to go totally flat broke!

I figured out that with all 'outgoings'/and, with no 'incomings'; then, it's obvious that pretty soon I'm going land in a total mess financial wise!

That's why it's very important to me to be able to figure out not just how to 'buy'...; but, also, how to 'sell', as well...; which I still haven't quite fully figured out, yet?

STILL LEARNING MORE ABOUT HOW TO 'SELL' - CAN'T BUY YOUR OWN WORK - CAN'T SEEM TO CANCEL SELLING IT NEITHER(OR, SO I THINK?!)
I went and did a search at eBay for -(using search term 'female nude')- the 2 drawings that I did using MS Paint available for instant download. And, guess what? Wow, my items this time I found were included in the search results(unlike last time, when absolutely nothing appeared?!)...; the only trouble is, quite frankly, I had to CRINGE with feelings of sheer utter EMBARASSMENT when I see my own total 'amateur' work being compared with the work of what to me, at least, are quite obviously 'masters!' In fact, seeing this comparison...and, seeing how dreadful my own art work looks next to it...made me want to instantly go buy back what I was selling...just so that nobody else could either see/buy it, instead! However, when I tried to buy one of the two items that I put up for 7 day sale...; then, the message came back 'seller is not allowed to buy their own items.' I guess, this means that once you've already gone and put up items for sale.../then, there is no backing out or withdrawing from the arrangement. (Or, is there...could I still cancel the sale...especially, if nobody has brought anything yet??? I'm aware, at least, that it is possible to 'revise the items for sale' by adding some further text descriptions before anybody either buys/or, bids on it.).

BOTH ITEMS I PUT UP FOR SALE DIDN'T SELL-BUT, AT LEAST, I UNDERSTAND HOW SELLING PROCESS GOES, NOW
My 7 day sale of 2 x drawings resulted in nobody buying anything. But, hey, that's ok. I wasn't seriously expecting anyone to buy, neither. But, I just wanted to understand how setting up things for sale, worked. And, now, I feel I do have a much clearer picture of how the selling process works.

UPDATE: After the 2 sales gone wrong(nothing sold). Ebay did send me a very polite, and, friendly letter saying, sorry; and, asking me if I wanted to relist my 2 items for FREE. But, I decided, no thanks! Next time, I will have to think a lot more carefully before attempting to go sell anything. Think about what goods might actually be sellable? And, also, think about how I am going to better word the advert? As well as, how to photograph/display the goods? And, also, how to properly package the goods? As well as, not forgetting the cost of P&P(Postage & Packing) charges? And, then, there are eBay fees to have to consider, too?/-Etc.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF EBAY BUYING METHODS
Buying wise. So far to date, I've done...(and, in the following chronological order)...

-Bidding Auction(bid to win/then, when item is won/pay for single item+not forgetting having to pay added on P&P charges!) One has to bear in mind that it is possible to be outbid even at the very last minute/or, even, last second of the sale; this means with bidding, therefore, absolutely nothing is certain?! Which makes bidding both serious and scary, as well; a sort of gamblers always 'living on the edge' deeply unsure feeling.

-Maximum bid/Automatic bid(if you think there is likely to be loads of competition for an item that you do wish to bid on...and, that therefore you aren't likely to get the item at it's minimum start bid price...then, it's possible to place as well as, a minimum bid/also, a maximum bid, too...this means that 'automatic' bids will be placed for you...to oppose any small 'incremetal' bids on the item...right up to your highest level maximum bid.

-Buy it Now(avoids you having to go bid-as with bidding nothing is certain if you will actually win the item or not(meaning, you could be outbid even at the very last second-yes, this has already happened to me before; and, furthermore, more than once)?! The catch here, however, is that often the Buy It Now price tends to reflect the goods end bid maximum price...; so, this price is never as good as is the start bid minimum price. But, if you do well and truly desperately want that item...; then, this is the safest way to go...; otherwise, you could very easily end up being outbid.

-Maximum Bid/over payment(this is my own 'unofficial' type of bid. Where there is no Buy It Now offer being available...; so, therefore, you the buyer must decide if you do really and truly desperately want that item...by just how much are you are willing to go overpay for it...which is, probably, a lot more than the actual item is worth-(say a wholly unique one off work of art by an artist who you love; so, if that artists work normally goes for 10.00/you might decide to go put 20.00 on, instead)-! Then, you put on this price as being your Maximum Bid...; and, hopefully, nobody would be ever so totally damn stupid as to go overpay even more than you did?! But, then, again, with bidding...one rule to constantly bear in mind...is that absolutely nothing is certain-there could be idiots out there who are willing to pay, instead, of double/triple/or, even much more?! The trouble with this type of bid is that even when you won/a large part of you may still feel you lost because you, quite clearly, went and OVERPAID! I think, this kind of bidding should be called THE LOVE BID...as, basically, LOVE IS BLIND to any sense of reason! I'm sure, it's due to this sort of bid why artists end up getting RICH on here; whilst the buyers just get far poorer and poorer still!)

-Buy using invoice for multiple items(bid to win/then, when item(s) are won/click the link 'contact seller for final invoice'/seller returns you an invoice for the final bill -(less P&P/as you only have to pay 1 x P&P costs for all items/instead of pay individual P&P costs for each seperate item)- with a link that allows you to pay.

-Bid retraction(basically, I went and made a mistake...; I was eating and typing all at the same time...; when, suddenly, I realised from reading my purchase order details on the screen...that I had just gone and placed a bid of £99.00...which was really meant to be £0.99p...boy, that was some fright (knowing I was now 'legally' comitted to buy it at that completely ridiculous maximum bid price)! Desperately, I searched around to find a way out of the situation...; and, discovered it is possible to retract a bid if you had accidentally gone and entered the wrong amount...; however, after having retracted the wrong amount...; you still must pay for the goods immediately, again, only this time typing in the correct amount, instead...; which, of course, quite happily I did do. However, a note of how many bid retractions you've gone and done in the last 12 months is also kept on your public profile for everybody else to see. Therefore, it's best to fully concentrate when entering...and, especially, when confirming your bid purchase.

-Second chance offer. If you were bidding on an item and lost it because that auction has ended; and, you were outbid by another purchaser, instead. Then, after the auction, it may be possible for the seller to invite you to be able to buy that item if you still do wish, though you were not the first to recieve the offer; this would apply in special circumstances...where the highest bidder may have pulled out/or, in the case where there are multiple quantities of the same item being available (eg. a mass produced print) to buy. I recieved such an offer on 15th March 2007; but, haven't accepted as yet...still thinking about it.

-Payment by personal cheque. (4.4.07) I went and brought 2 x books I was interested in which I thought were going at a quite reasonable price. Only, later on, to discover -much to my surprise?!- that the conditions of the sale meant that PayPal was NOT accepted! To date the only online buying I'd done at eBay involved using the PayPal method, alone; because, I'd read it was the 'safest' method. The seller wanted me to pay using either Postal Order/or, a Cheque. So, I finally decided that the safest way to pay was to use a combination of crossed cheque/togeather with signed for delivery...; that way the person who the letter was addressed to can't say another person might have gotten their hands on the cheque - because, they themselves would have to sign for it in order to be able to receive it/also, using the signed for delivery method means the letter isn't likely to have gotten lost in the post-because it has got to be signed for. Lastly, because, I used a crossed cheque...; therefore, the money should still be traceable as crossed cheques will need to be deposited into somebody's either bank/or, building society a/c. Normally, I would never have choosen this particular payment method...as using snail mail is both far too cumbersome and slow(go out, buy stamps/buy envelopes/address letter/write cheque/go back out, again, to post/wait for your letter to arrive/then, wait for them to  deposit cheque/wait  for cheque funds to be cleared/wait for items to be posted/-etc.)...; however, like I said I didn't read through everything properly before hitting the [Buy Now] button?! Meaning, I have to be a lot more careful next time to read properly, first. (NOTE: Signed delivery was not as expensive as I thought it might be...costing only £1.04p.).

-USPS/United States Postal Service. Apparently, when you buy an item that is sent by USPS...; then, it's possible to sign into PayPal, and, track that item. For example, the regularly updated notice might say...the item was sent from Los Angeles on this time/date...and, has moved to California on this time date...and, has reached UK on this time/date/-etc. I found this service very useful...as it saved me a hell of a lot of constant worrying as to whether my item has been sent or not?!

BUYING METHODS STILL NOT TRIED YET

-Live auction(I heard of it through reading up about it. But, no, I've still have not tried this one yet. In particular, I tried to download the Java based client software but, I'm afraid, without any success. My windows Installer, I think, is broke! Because, I'm also having trouble when trying to install other programs, as well. And, then, again, some it does install.../and, others not?! I'm going to have to talk about this to some computing expert...maybe, try Yahoo answers.)

-Auction Assist(again, heard of it/or, at least, heard of their web site; but, no, never tried it yet. I much prefer to do things manually anyway; than, have others do it for me...in this way I feel I'm both in control...and, also, I can learn a lot more about how to do things for myself.)

===============

MADE AN ACCIDENTAL PURCHASE(ALL MY OWN FAULT) OF BUYING A MERE MASS PRODUCED 'PRINT'/WHEN I REALLY WANTED A ONE AND ONLY UNIQUE 'ORIGINAL', INSTEAD

-(I did have one other 'concentration' problem...when I tried to go and buy what I thought was a beautiful piece of 'original' artwork...which was going for an absolute song...; -(well, they do say that if it sounds too good to be true-then, it most probably isn't true?!)-; instantly, I put on the highest bid...; only, later on, when the goods were actually sent to me...I found it was NOT an 'original' piece of art work, atall...; instead, it was merely a mass produced 'print' - all of which I HATE(no wonder it was going so cheaply)! I then rushed back to see what were the goods description on the web page concerned...and, sure enough it said, 'print'...and, did NOT say 'original' anywhere. Thus, having only myself alone to blame for this big mistake -for NOT having read the item description, properly-...so, I sent in positive feedback instead of negative. I guess, one learns from really bitter experience...; and, so next time I promise myself to fully concentrate on reading up about the goods I am buying, first...; before either bidding on/or else, buying it. The problem is when these auctions are time-based...and, you see the thing ending in say 1 minute...there's not a lot of time to go and study reading through descriptions, fully?! The lesson there being don't rush; if there's no time to read properly; then, better leave it.)-

==================

5th March 2007 - 14 March 2007
THE POST WAS REALLY SLOW!!!

So far, -touchwood,- I seem to have had no problems with sellers sending goods to me after I'd gone and brought them. Everythings turned up fine.

-(I try to carefully check the sellers feedback rating score if it says anything less than 100%/or, if the number next to their screenname reads 0 or near...; then, I go and read about the cases where it all went wrong-exactly what the comments/complaints were-try and discover what particular goods there was a problem with...and, how the seller went about handling it. If I don't feel safe...; then, I don't buy.)-

I did go through one hairy moment when I thought the goods might NOT turn up?! Normally, after purchasing I've discoved the goods are sent to me, more or less, immediately; and, are therefore recieved in around 2/3 days time/at the most, within the same week. Well, this time, it took longer than a week. -(The rules do say that you should, at least, wait 10 days for purchased goods to arrive.)- I, then, contacted the seller...; and, told them I had not recieved any goods; their reply was that they had already sent it; but, were nevertheless willing to resend, again.  Finally, the goods were delivered to me by the postman...not just 1 but 2 togeather at once! Which meant the post must have been really slow. Anyway, I wrote some positive feedback. Then, offered to return back the extra 1 that was sent to me. The reply I got on the 15th March 2007 said to return it. So, I did on 16th March 2007. The buyer, later on, sent me an email confirming receipt.

15th March 2007

WOW!!! TODAY, I GAINED MY 1ST -(YELLOW)- STAR!!!

I can think of, at least, 2 moments that were really precious to me being an eBay member. The first time I got a Feedback Rating number next to my member name: pramgoat(0)...went up by +1 to say, instead...pramgoat(1)...then, gradually, it's crept up and up by more +1's...to become, yesterday, pramgoat(9)...and, right now, today, it says...pramgoat(10)...which means I've gone and earned my first YELLOW STAR! This gives me a tremendous feeling of acheivement, and, a sense of deep satisfaction...; because, now, I feel much more like being an eBay insider...; as opposed to being a total outsider. In fact, I would say already I -(almost)- feel like something of a veteran eBayer....; especially, after having gone and done all of the endless reading and reading(with still more to read-only, I think, I'll do that later on-no, let's make that much later on)!

-(The next star up...-forgot the color/sorry!- I think, is going to be a really long LONG way away...; because, you need to have around 50+ points to earn it. So, I think, I'll put off worrying about that huge acheivement for now.)-

IN REGARDS TO BUYING ART WORKS-ONE FINDS SELLERS SHOPS TO REGULARLY GO AND HAUNT(WATCH)

My main love is 'arts'. However, I'm not rich enough to be able to afford the kind of 'top quality' art which I would really and truly like to buy...; in fact, I'm an 'unemployed' student...; for example, my favourite artist in the whole wide world is Picasso. But, his 'original' art work is way out of my pocket range(costing 100's/1000's/and,, sometimes, even millions)! And, I don't like having to go buy really cheap mass produced 'prints'.

Nevertheless, although, I'm nearly flat broke...I found that on eBay it's still possible to pick up 'original' art works most incredibly cheaply...some as cheap as 0.99p(which is the cost of a bag of chips/this price not including P&P, of course)! And, therefore, I'm quite happy to have disovered eBay. I also found that one gets to know and like specific artists work...; and, therefore, one tends to return back to buy from many of the same eBay stores, repeatedly, again and again.

NOTE: One week I see an unknown artists work going for just £0.99p. But, then, during say the next week nearly everybody seems to be bidding on it...; thus, causing a huge jump in price...to say...£10.00+(which is where I tend to drop out of the bidding, altogether).

CONCERNING TOTAL RIP OFF POSTAGE COSTS!!!

I mentioned that sometimes you can buy a work of art for less than a bag of chips, £0.99p. The only catch is the cost of P&P. For example, the item you buy may cost only £0.99...but, the P&P could be as much as £5.00 each...and, then, if you were to try buying say 4 x 0.99 = 3.96 + 4 x 5.00 = £20.00! So, altogeather, what should have cost 3.96 (4x0.99)+ 5.00(1 set of P&P) = 8.96...can end up costing you, instead, £23.96! That's why I've learnt to check if the seller allows discounts on P&P for multiple items that are purchased during one short time period? If not; then, I tend to think twice before buying it!

In some cases, I should add, I have to wonder if it really does cost as much as £5.00 just to send out one single item?! In my honest opinion, the cost of sending an A4 piece of paper/or, A4 card inside of either a cardboard roll box/or else, flat cardboard backed envelope should be somewhere around £2.00/£2.50 only. So, that is another thing I find really strange?!

CONCLUSION: Many times I see very nice art works going for £0.99p/but, when I've gone and checked the cost of P&P(£5.00+)/overseas P&P(£10.00+)...; especially, seeing it in comparison to what the cost of the actual item itself is worth...; then, I totally change my mind about buying; and, just say instead, completely forget it!

BUYING AND SELLING ART ISN'T QUITE AS EASY AS I HAD ORIGINALLY THOUGHT

Looking for art here on eBay has taught me rather a lot.

1> First, it introduced me to the whole buying/selling art world. Prior to this sort of experience I used to visit galleries both online/offline...but, mostly just to see work...; but, never to actually 'buy' from them. Gallery works can be extremely expensive. Whereas, eBay works going for £0.99p+ is much more affordable/even utterly 'irresistable!'

2> Through doing constant searches...I've been introduced to a whole load of artists who's name I never heard of/and, who's work I've never seen before, neither; and, yet, these artists are really and truly good!

3> I'm learning to be as discriminating as is possible. If it's not the best/or, not affordable; then, don't buy it; no need to go worry yourself, neither; because, sooner or later, something else will turn up.

4> I've also learnt it's not too easy to buy/sell art. Or, rather buying it may be easy enough; but, selling it on -at a profit- is not so easy, atall. Artworks that do really and truly make loads of money, I think, you would have to be really rich to be able to afford, in the first place. And, buying cheaper art works is unlikely to make very much money profit wise; after all, why should it when other people could just as easily go buy the stuff quite as cheaply as you did?! Therefore, it's best to buy cheap artwork only for yourself to use strictly for your own pleasure.

--QUICK SUMMARY--

THINGS I BROUGHT ON EBAY

art(drawings/watercolors)
martial arts(ebook/books/dvd's)
computing(printer)

THINGS I WANT TO BUY

digital camera

...Hopefully, this should help me  to be able to start 'selling'?!

MY FEEDBACK RATING

Currently I have...

16 Positive
0 Neutral
0 Negative
35 purchases
0 sells
1 bid retraction(not concentrating I accidentally placed a £99.00 bid/which I had to go and correct to become £0.99p, instead!)

.Which, basically, means that all of the business I've done on here so far to date is 'buying', alone; which is mainly all repeat purchases from the very same people -(otherwise, I would have had 35 Positive comments/instead, of only just 16 Positive...if I'd gone and brought from 35 'different' people)-; I think, this is because when you have already gone and done business with people before; and, then, found it was both 'safe'/and, also, that you were really pleased with the goods they sent you; then, you are more than happy to go and do 'repeat' business with them, anytime; because, based on the history of your past purchases, then, it's highly unlikely you should have any problems dealing with them in the future, too. So, with just one person, I may have gone and brought goods 6/7 times from...; but, none of this is reflected in ones total feedback number score....; buying from the same one person will only count as +1 no matter how many times you've gone and brought goods from them/only buying from 'different' people will increase your total feedback number score.

18th April 2007

Today, I recieved a video player/recorder machine costing £19.99(+10.00 P&P). Only trouble is, I can't figure out where the hell I've gone and put the remote control?!

I had no choice but to go buy a new video player machine; because my old video player-which I'd owned for years and years-had totally packed up; it was chewing up all of the tapes that I put in there/and, then, spitting them back out again with the tape being both chewed up, and, also, broken! This unfortunate situation was costing me a fortune in having to go buy replacement tapes; in the long run, buying tapes is going to cost a hell of a lot more money than is buying the actual video player itself; so, now, I can once again watch videos without having to constantly worry that the tape is going to break?!

Searching to go buy electronic goods on here can be completely crazy...as there are so many different things you can buy...video/dvd/dvd writer/tv with built-in dvd/dvd with HDD-(hard disk drive)/freeview/freeview with HDD/-etc. In the end, I just give up and just go for whatever is both simplest, and, 'cheapest' that I can afford.
