San Dimas Blog

Started Writing a FAQ - What Do You Want to Know?

I've started writing an frequently asked questions (FAQ) section for the projectsandimas.com website. So, what do you want to know? Features? Who is working on it? When it will come out? Where the name came from? Reminder that you can comment on this blog by logging on with your eBay username.

Alerts? Will the app remind the user when their bids are about to expire? Also, could you setup an auto-bidding facility (probably not a popular feature for the web people though).

While viewing a demo of the app Mike Downey was finding it difficult to find an item with multiple images. You should be able to filter this out in your search facility.

Good work. Looking forward to using it.

This sounds more like a feature request, but lets say i bid on something and by chance I lose because I couldn't afford it or didn't catch it in time. Could the ebay app search through ebay auctions to find out other items of the same name with a similar price still in active auction? If possible or already implemented could a user of the app view it as a post auction feature (ex: you have been outbid. auction has closed: here are some other items still in auction).

Other than that it looks wonderful. I look forward to using it. To be a seller felt like a daunting task, I hope this automates that process more.

What is Apollo and why is this application using it? As a developer I know that answer to those questions, but the general public probably won't.

Mmmm Depending on if the FAQs will be for the users or for the people following the developent. Features, how to install it on your computer, minimun requirements, what you can do with it why could be more useful than the web. I've seen some people asking themselves on Techcrunch about the name.... (thieves...). Actually how do you want to call it in other languages. Are you preparing an intl. version? Is it possible to bid on other sites other than .com?

Thanks

Good questions and suggestions!

tech-knowledge: I am thinking that this blog will be for feature and product related news and commentary -- users who want to know more about it and discuss various feature ideas. Especially during the beta period I would expect that many users of San Dimas would be interested in knowing more about how it is evolving. I'll probably keep the technical discussion out of this blog, because most users don't care about the technical bits. Those that do can read my personal blog (alanlewis.typepad.com), the eBay dev blog (ebaydeveloper.typepad.com), or the blogs of other San Dimas developers.

From a new tech standpoint I would love to know more about the code in the faq. What good points, what bad, what issues do you know now that you can pass on? Or you can just release the code ;)

Hi there! Looks great and I'm sure many international users will also be interested in San Dimas ... so could you advise whether or not other country platforms can use San Dimas, or whether it is only restricted to the US site. Including this in the FAQ would be helpful to many of us outside of USA. Thanks!
