Are our eBay listings searchable on foreign eBay auction sites?

Yes, but it’s rubbish!

How does it work?

Currently, auctions listed on eBay.com for example, are only visible to overseas buyers who make use of the relevant advanced search facility. This means, given that most folks don’t make use of this particular method of searching on a regular basis, we can safely assume that there must be a better way.

Is there a better way?

It’s possible to get around this arrangement by posting directly to overseas eBay sites, though this leaves your listings localised to a different region than your home ebay site. For example, Bob lives in the US and posts to eBay.co.uk to gain international exposure. His listings will now be localised to the UK eBay site, and will achieve exposure to his home market only when the relevant advanced search methods are employed.

Solution?

Post seperate listings for the same product in each market. Need exposure to the US? - post your widget listing via eBay.com. Need exposure to UK market? - post your widget listing to eBay.co.uk. Subject to double fees, but the deed is done nonetheless.

Time moves on… Is there a better way?

Yes! We can now pay an International Site Visibility fee to allow us to post to our home market eBay site, and gain exposure to International sites around the world… It’s currently limited to around 5 markets, but it’s likely then that the arrangement will be rolled out to include additional eBay markets in due course.
