What the Heck?? Explain this one?

First off, I'm a buyer and seller. I don't sell under this ID. Recently I bought an item (320229792902) and the listing was for FREE shipping. It was Buy It Now. I paid instantly. Seller cancelled my payment and sent an invoice to add $14.75 shipping to the total. I obtained the contact info and called her. She launched into a sad tale about how confused she had been lately due to the death of a pet and made a mistake on the shipping. I expressed my sympathies as I know how sad losing a pet can be. At the end of the conversation the agreement was she would honor her listing terms of free shipping. So I sent another Paypal payment. Then she refunded that one. I called her again. She said she thought I understood she wouldn't be sending the item with free shipping because it was a mistake. She hung up on me. I left Neg. FB and filed Non-performing seller report with ebay. She of course left Neg. FB for me. Then she tried to get me to agree to FB withdrawal. If I hadn't meant she was deserving of NEG. I wouldn't have left it. Then she offered to honor her original listing terms on condition I'd remove the Neg. FB. Then she filed Unpaid Report on me. I answered it with all the Paypal pymt info and the info about her refusing my pymts twice. Then ebay offers the buyer two choices: I'll finish the transaction and send the money..or I'll let it go and the seller gets the FVF. Where is the sanity or fairness in this????? A non-performing seller gets off scot-free and does not have to honor terms of listings if they've made an error (or apparently if they have a change of mind) in the listing. Ebay gives the FVF back even though the seller did not complete the sale in order to save $14.75 shipping. What a flawed and silly system.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. THERE IS NO FAIRNESS IN THIS. MY NIECE BOUGHT A DRESS AND PAID FOR IT. THE SELLER HAD SECOND THOUGHTS THINKING SHE COULD GET MORE FOR IT AND REFUSED TO SELL IT TO HER. MY NIECE SENT A NON PERFORMING SELLER REPORT AND WAS TOLD AS LONG AS THE SELLER SENT HER BACK THE MONEY NO HARM NO FOUL. WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT.
IT'S JUST NOT FAIR.

That's for sure, usually it's the buyer who always wins. Sorry that happened to you though. Sounds so confusing!

Yes it does. Usually (Putting on my seller's hat) I get screwed over by ebay. Now (Putting on my buyer's hat) I get screwed over. That is double screwed. SHEESH

I've been feeling that way too lately. I am also a buyer and a seller...and it seems like lately, I'm getting screwed either way. eBay really needs to spend less time changing policy...and more time fixing the policies that don't work!

Twice my PayPal pymt was cancelled/refunded so I sure tried to pay the lady but she was so hung up on the $14.75 shipping she couldn't honor her obligation. And get this..She is Proud to Be A PowerSeller. (Like that really means anything)

your right treasures. I wish they would just inforce the ones they have. I am both a buyer and seller and I have to tell you I have been very disappointed lately in some of the things I have gotten. The packaging was terrible, they over charged the shipping, I try my best to do a good job I wish other people would too.

Amen Winbig. What I also would like to see is consequences that really stick if buyers or sellers don't fulfill their obligations. Ebay Rules & Policies talks big but when you file a report they don't generally do much to fix a bad situation. I filed a report on this seller and it is still up in the air so we'll see.

Keep your negative right where it is!! this is an example of bad business and it should be known as such....your 2 cancelled payments were proof enough, suddenly she thinks the wiser of it....Nope leave them right where they are....who knows how many folks she has bamboozled and gottn away with doing so....that's just bad business!!

This seller didn't sell her "FM Dressed Giant Vinyl Elizabeth Taylor Portrait Doll." She is now trying to sell the same as "FM Porcelain Elizabeth Taylor Portrail Doll." Franklin Mint never had a porcelain Elizabeth doll dressed in the Giant dress. Report this to ebay as part of your complaint.
