A MAN CALLED JERRY LEWIS

A MAN CALLED JERRY LEWIS

I’ve never met the man in person,

Yet he’s truly changed my life.

The MDA is where I turned.

When torn with pain and strife.

I was just a six month newlywed,

When I had to tell my bride.

I had this strange neuromuscular disease.

The task just tore me up inside.

Now I sit here in a wheelchair.

That MDA has helped to pay.

If we had to buy it all ourselves.

We could’ve never found a way.

But Jerry’s done more than just help buy chairs,

Through my life he’s given me laughter.

He also helps raise needed funds for research.

So kids with MD have a happily ever after.

Without the MDA and Jerry Lewis,

I shudder to imagine.

Were we’d be concerning research.

Would there be a place that kids can camp in?

This simple poetic letter for Jerry.

Can truly never measure up.

This man called Jerry devoted his life.

So Muscular Dystrophy can’t tear us up.

(Thank You Jerry Lewis!)

XENOPHOBIA

XENOPHOBIA

The title of this poem…
Is a word not widely known.
Though billions suffer from it…
As history has shown.

This condition started many wars…
And causes murder on our streets.
It’s why some people become prejudice…
Or sit in separate seats.

This condition sometimes causes us…
To misinterpret one another.
I believe it’s why so many bombs are made…
And why we persecute each other.

If only we would realize…
In some ways we’re all the same.
It may become more difficult…
To treat others so lame.

We shouldn’t have the attitude…
I wouldn’t want to be or know ya.
Just because we suffer…
From a thing like xenophobia.

Handing Down Life Sentences

Handing Down Life Sentences

No matter what befalls you, Love one another.
Remember every person is your sister & your brother.
Remember to patient.
Be charitable and kind.
Sometimes it's not as it seems.
Beware the figments of the mind.
Remember GOD is the greatest gift.
What you give so shall you reap.
Remember to honor your parents.
Remember color is only skin deep.
Respect one anothers heritage.
Reach out to those in need.
Don't give up if you've tried and failed.
Weigh the motives of the deed.
Don't get bitter when your body fails.
Enjoy life safely to the fullest.
If you can smile you have something to give.
Show equality to the greatest and smallest.
Greet the world with compassion and love.
Have faith and trust your GOD above.

A SMILE

A Smile

A smile has insurmountable power.
A smile has warmth and grace.
A smile can change a persons life.
It is recognized in any race.

A smile can stir and bring out feeling.
A smile can break down walls.
A smile can embarrass and give us away.
Especially when nature calls.

A smile does so many things.
A smile can help us cope.
A smile is the greatest gift.
A smile offers hope.

A smile is something we can all give freely.
A smile's like a touchless embrace.
A smile can influence and turn bad to good.
Thanks for your smiling face.

Basic Training.

BASIC TRAINING

Some may call you worthless.

Some may call you dumb.

If you let yourself believe these words…

It’s what you feel you have become.

There are words inside yourself…

Words that run much deeper.

Imagine yourself as a gift…

And know you are a keeper.

Underneath the wrappers…

What’s in the container?

That’s what really counts.

You’re the person and the trainer.
