SOUGHT AFTER BOOKS

THOUGHTS ABOUT SELLING BOOKS

Have been busy recently listing books but have been disappointed that my sales have drastically reduced over the past few months.

Due to the reduction in visibility on ebay.com, I now sell hardly any books to the USA whereas, previously, about a third of my sales were to the USA.

Obviously less people viewing the auction page also means that I hardly ever get a decent price for my items.

I'd be interested to hear from any other booksellers about their experiences of ebay selling.

Jan,

Hello from 'across the pond' !

We are having the same situation but in reverse...

Used to sell a LOT of pop culture periodicals & comics & comic magazines to the UK,
but with the reduced visiblity to UK eBayers it has trickled down....

With the May 14th USPS rate hikes, and the corresponding
eBay changes in the shipping fields,
we have stopped listing that we do world-wide shipping,
and only show that we ship to the USA, UK, Canada & Australia.

Once more we had to change our 'business plan' because of eBay changes!

Gotta roll with the flow!
(Not much else we can do... LOL)

Hi Robbin...I had some great vintage books I bought in London. I thought they would fly out of here. Nope. I sold two of them......and cheap at that.

I sell books under another ID.
Book sales, in general, are down.
I think there are too many sellers competing.
Also, collectible books are more of a luxury, and money's tight for many folk.

My sales have been down too. I still sell, but not at the same rate, I have had to resort to putting auctions on for ten days instead of seven to generate interest. I also am doing googlebase but not getting much from that either. Another woe has been media mail. It has gotten terrible and now USPS wont guarantee tracking. I sold a nice set of Dick and Jane and it ended up at the mail recovery center in Georgia! I had that packaged really well too. I hope it picks up for Christmas!
