Connecticut Board Games

New Blog on eBay

Soon I will be putting up for sale on eBay my collection of board games:   I have dozens of chess sets, wooden boards, backgammon sets, Mancala boards. Dominoes, Rummikub, chess clocks, wooden boxes, travel cases.  I need to clean house !  I have far too many of these in my home, and I do not wish to rent out a storage unit.  I live in a condo (i.e. no garage, no attic, no basement).

Welcome to Connecticut Restaurant Reviews
In May 2008 we went for breakfast at a hole-in-the-wall in Coventry Connecticut, “Meet Me on the Main” located across the street from the famous Bidwell Tavern.

It was an aggravating experience where we walked away still hungry, and felt taken advantage of. We will never go back there again. They struck out: 1) poor service, 2) small portions, and 3) far too expensive.

Here is the story of how we ended up paying a total of $ 26 for eggs, toast, potatoes and coffee.

We walk in and sit down. After a few minutes a waitress brings menus, and I tell her I wish to start off with some coffee please.

We look at the menu. I wanted an Omelet. Cheese Omelets are $6.50. I don’t want cheese, so I ask the waitress if I can have some veggies instead ? The menu says Onions, peppers, mushrooms…….……75.

It says Omelets come with toast and fruit, I need more carbs to go with the protein so we order a side of home fries to share. Home fries are $2 more. I ask for coffee again.

Coffee finally arrives, one minute before the “cook” himself delivers our breakfast. Everything fits on two plates. The first thing I notice is how small the omelet is. It's the size of a pancake, folded over in half.

2 slices of bread were on the other side of the plate with the “fruit”, which was a small strawberry, sliced up fancy like a garnish, and a very thin slice of melon, weighing about an ounce in total. I was expecting ¾ cup of fruit, nothing fancy, just something substantial. I felt cheated when I saw the garnish.

The home fries came with a shot glass of catsup. I wanted more. I also wanted a 2nd cup of coffee. No waitress to be found. She showed up later with the bill. Too late for more catsup, I already finished the home fries, but I would like more coffee please.

I take a look at the bill. My Omelet $6.50, our homefries $2, my coffee $2, her ice tea $2, her “Mexican” omelet $8, and “Extra” ingredients to
