ODE TO A TURKEYPosted Nov-24-06 18:03:44 PST Updated Nov-25-06 21:29:39 PST We have eaten our turkeys, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, yams and pumpkin pie. Our belts need to be loosened. Our stomachs are full and our turkey sleep is restless. The best part was the turkey...or was it. This year's Butterball (like Kleenex we call all Turkeys this silly brand name now) was a little greasy. The mashed potatoes, I mean smashed potatoes with redskins and sour cream. Yam casserole? Green Bean casserole with French Onions. Cheese ball and crackers. Yummy! Rum and cokes, mojitos, dessert wine, christmas ale and bottled water. Peach cobbler and custard pie! The collard greens with hot sauce hit the spot. The pumpkin roll was fab. Oh my God, the spinach dip with pumpernickel bread was outstanding. The cheesy potatoes that Aunt Edna brought were even good, the sharp cheddar was just right. Still the turkey was the best part, but I'm sure the turkey didn't think so. Poor gobble gobble. Were do these poor turkeys come from. It really makes you wonder. How do they live before they are slaughtered? How are they treated? Hopefully with respect, love and care, afterall they do belong to th Earth and we do eat them. They are God's creatures. Just don't watch any Peta videos. The bait and tackle store down the street has an interesting sign in the window. PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals. Gotta love those turkey burgers. And what about all the veggies that were slaughtered to make that veggie burger. No baby shrubs were clubbed to make the paper we write on everyday. That cowskin jacket is beautiful. The shoes match nicely. Oh, well what is a meat eater to do. Ominovore, Herbervore? Just remember all the turkeys who gave there lives so we could be thankful. Ode to a Turkey. Get Stuffed, the Turkey did!
