In honor of the 4th of July, I offer this collectible patch --

 after all, what could be more American than BEER???

Beer Can Collectors of America (BCCA) was founded in 1970 and is now known as the Brewery Collectibles Club of America (also BCCA).  You can learn more about them at their club homepage.  This patch has the original name and, as far as I can find out was probably made in the late 1970s or early 1980s, when this was the club logo.   It is no longer being produced, since the name of the club has long since changed. 

This patch would make a very nice addition to any breweraria collection, and the perfect gift for your favorite BCCA member.  Although the pic does not show it very well, the hand and beer can are done in silvertone thread.

Ex-Senator Norm Coleman (R) has FINALLY conceded the election to Senator-Elect Al Franken (D) after dragging the recount all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court -- which ruled in Franken's favor.  So Coleman has officially conceded and Franken is off to Washington.

It's about time!  This must be some sort of record for the longest senatorial recount in US history -- eight months... read more about it here:

Vintage Beer Can Collectors of America BCCA patch

This pretty orange and white cat has been hanging around our place on and off since last fall -- I would get a glimpse of him occasionally but  only recently has he gotten brave enough to come in for a meal. 

Here you see my black female cat, Nightshade, hissing at him on the steps (her personality matches her name!)   My other cats also growled and hissed at first, but they seem to be accepting him into  the colony (we have 13 cats here already.)   If I show myself he retreats to the bushes, but will come out for a bowl of food.   So I  have been putting out food near the bushes where he hides and peeks out at me. 

I don't know if he was dumped here or abandoned when somebody moved, or is feral.  I thought maybe he had a home somewhere because he was gone all winter, but lately he has been eating here every other day.  Today I finally managed to get this picture of him through the window.

Any ideas for what to call him if he ends up living here?

 

Slightly out of focus -- she kept trying to peck me! -- but you can see one of the three chicks that this hen, Spunky, hatched today.  If the chick seems too big for the size of the hen, it is because she is a banty, but the eggs came from Lady Bird, a full-sized hen who has no interest in sitting on eggs. Lady Bird lays well, though, wihch is why I want some babies from her, to keep her line going.
