Woke up this morning to the honking of Canada geese.  I was hoping to catch them flying overhead, but they passed by in the east instead.  During the past three days of heavy rain, birds were grounded.   ("Wet birds don't fly at night...")  Now that the sun is out, they are taking off in big flocks.  A HUGE flock of blackbirds was squawking in the trees across the road and then suddenly rose into the air like a scene from a hitchcock movie.  The fall migration is on!

Fall is also a really good time to plant wildflower seeds.  A lot of them need winter cold to germinate in the spring.   I am also collecting and selling seeds from annuals for spring planting, too!   And if you want goldenrod in your butterfly garden, I'm digging plants now:
