Archive - May 2008 Cruelty-free feathers GALORE !!!Posted May-23-08 08:55:41 PDT Parrot, macaw, guinea, emu, chicken, turkey, goose -- and more to come!!! Several nice shipments have come in recently from various people who were saving up feathers and decided to clean out the house or garage. I'm still sorting -- but here are some nice pairs and sets. I've also got Guinea wing feathers -- both primaries and secondaries -- in the usual black & white spotted pattern. And a big lot of emu feathers. Don't know if I'll get to listing them today, but feel free to ask if interested! Plus, my geese should be dropping wing feathers soon. Ducks and geese are unique in that they drop all their wing feathers at once and are flightless until they grow back in. This usually happens in June.
Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek Rooster's FREE sarcastic lines for DEADBEATSPosted May-22-08 05:18:32 PDT Updated May-22-08 05:27:09 PDT
If you can't leave a neg, leave SARCASM! Back in March I wrote "101 negative feedback lines for DEADBEAT BIDDERS" -- the ultimate list of "positive negatives." It was my bestselling digital download until eBay decided to ban downloads. GRRR!!! Now we sellers can't leave negs and a neutral counts as a neg! CRIKEY! So, for a limited time, I'm giving away FREE COPIES of this humorous list of feedback lines as my protest against this stupid, STUPID policy change. If nothing else, these will give you a few laughs -- something we all badly need right now. (See important disclaimer below.) Update: Somebody pointed out on another blog that the "feedback Abuse" rules now prohibit "Negative comments that contradict a positive rating." Apparently that was added recently, it is NOT in the Feedback Tutorial (which has not been updated yet.) If this is really enforced, it will mean we have NO WAY to tell the TRUTH about deadbeats -- and wouldn't that be a violation of free speech? To cover my butt, I offer these lines as HUMOR and SATIRE -- which is covered by the First Amendment. Use at your own risk. No more Mystery Boxes???!!! CRIKEY!!!!Posted May-21-08 07:00:56 PDT Updated May-21-08 07:02:13 PDT %$#$%#$%##$%!!!! The May 19th announcements say that "starting in early June" (no specific date given), eBay will no longer allow Mystery auctions!!! GRRRRRR !!! The reason given is "bad experieces." Well, I have NEVER had a bad experience with a Mystery Box and I've never had a complaint about any of mine. They are FUN. If eBay wants to eliminate something, why not crappy cheap electronics from China??? They are also changing the rules about outside links on eBay -- INCLUDING BLOGS!!! Seems we won't be able to link personal homepages anymore??? Seems eBay is trying to take all the fun out of eBaying. GRRR!!!! BTW, everybody see my previous post for your FREE download of "101 negative feedback lines for DEADBEAT BIDDERS!" If we can't leave a neg, at least leave sarcasm... WILD IRIS plant from Rooster's in MN!Posted May-20-08 22:15:31 PDT
A native Minnesota wildflower that grows near water, does not mind being flooded in spring, hardy to 20 below zero -- what more can you ask? And bidding starts at only a penny for a nice big well-rooted plant. Click on the pic below to see the listing and a photo of the actual plant you will receive. (Due to the fact that this is a live plant, I cannot ship it internationally or to Hawaii. Only to the continental USA. Sorry, but those are the rules... sigh.)

Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek Wildflower seeds and MORE at Rooster'sPosted May-16-08 04:18:11 PDT Updated May-16-08 04:54:10 PDT Spring is here! Plant some wildflower seeds to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Offer nesting feathers to your wild birds -- help them to literally feather their nests (swallows especially love these.) And as always in my store, help feed a colony of cats (including a new female we named Annabelle, who I think is pregnant...)
Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek "Brotherly Love Cats" photo printsPosted May-08-08 18:14:52 PDT Updated May-20-08 09:35:57 PDT
"Brotherly Love Cats" was taken by me in 2006. It was my best-selling digital cat pic download until eBay banned all digi downloads in March 2008 (very stupid move if you ask me). So, it is now available as a glossy print in ACEO or 4x6 or 8x10 sizes. These are not charity auctions per se but, as always, the money from sales of my cat photos goes to feed our colony of 15 cats (plus one new stray tomcat who showed up last month -- see earlier post called "Meet Koala...") . Of course, your print will not have the yellow copyright logo. But it WILL be initialed by me -- your proof of authenticity. See the auction listings for the full story of these two loving rescue cats (who now live with me.) Available in a variety of sizes to fit your budget and collection. Check out my other "Help Cats" sales, too:
Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek Meet Koala -- our latest stray cat!Posted May-02-08 06:40:41 PDT Updated May-20-08 09:43:46 PDT Koala is the latest stray cat to show up at our farm, making our colony total 16 now. I'm pretty sure he's a male -- he is built like one and acts it, too. I have not been able to peek under his tail to be sure -- he's pretty cautious and keeps his distance, not at all tame, probably feral. He did let me get within 3-4 feet when I took this pic. but no closer or he runs. My other cats are tolerating him, but he wants nothing to do with the dogs. (story continues below the picture) Blogger Samiamsxa suggested the name -- and he really does resemble a koala, with that round face and his dark nose. He definitely has a bear-type personality (although technically a Koala is not a bear, but you know what I mean.) He has learned to show up at feeding time at least every other day. (Is he making the rounds? I found out a neighbor was feeding Rainbow, one of my cats I've had since he was a kitten. Good to know there are some other soft-hearted people around here :) Update 5/8/08: He lets me get closer now, although not willing to let me touch him yet. But he follows me to where I put the food down by the pump house, and often waits there patiently for me to come. He appears to be an older cat -- now that I can get closer, I see he has a cataract in his left eye. He also walks a bit stiffly and limps on his left front paw (an old injury, I think.) He likes to sit in the sun and warm himself in the morning. His fur is very thick from living outdoors, but he probably can't hunt as well as he used to, and he sure appreciates an easier meal here. Update 5/16/08: He finally let me pet him -- only briefly while he was eating, and only on his back. He shied away when I tried to pet his head. He is not a cuddle cat by any means, and has not purred for me yet. But I do hope a gentle stroke now and then will comfort him. He has settled in to living on our land, and I think he sleeps in the old garage -- I have seen him coming from that direction. I look forward to seeing him each morning now, and he is welcome to live out the rest of his days here. (And yes, I've confirmed he's a male.)
