My upstairs smells so good!

I made a carpet deodorizer / flea repellant that is so easy to make and lasts for around ten days.  No poisons and its cheaper than the brand at Wally World.

Here is the recipe:  3 drops clover oil (penny royal), 3 drops eucalyptus oil, 3 drops cedarwood oil, 9 drops citronella oil and 1 lb baking soda . (I doubled the recipe because I have almost 1000 square feet carpeted.)

MIXED WELL, Let sit 1 hour covered in bowl,  then sprinkle on carpet for 1 hour vacuum. Vacuum bag will be double wrapped and disposed of.

Cost for this is less than 2 dollars with same amount at store $12.

Morning How is your slice of heaven?

Gorgeous day here. I am celebrating my bottle baby goats have kicked the bottle. Wooo Hooo, I am also looking for ladybug whom Shartey recommended for berry plants.  I am in zone 8/9 so, she will have a fun time filling my order.

I want 6 to 10 each: blueberry, strawberry, currant, boyensberry, black berry plants. I will be looking for various cherry plants as well.

Dance with me! No MORE BOTTLES.

Happy SUN-Day folks, its gorgeous here:

How is your slice of heaven?  I have just repotted tomatos and peppers.  Next will be starting my second wave of herbs, onions and garlic bulbs.

Update Saenz no longer needs bandaging but I do still apply Silver Sulfadine to soothe the area and reduce scaring.

Here is the list of books I have read since May 27th.

Saenz's wound update; photobucket

As you can see in the avatar; much healing has taken place.  There is no more oozing but I will continue to clean, air, dress it the same way for the next week.  Silver Sulfadine is blessing.

14 ounce jar runs around $147 plus shipping.

3 (1) ounce jar runs around $50 each  plus shipping.

Fortunately, I am AF Retired and have Tri-Care Prime (HUMANA.) My costs with ER visit and 3 (1 ounce) and 1 (14 ounce) jars was $33.  My savings went into building very extensive first aid kit.

Tonight's Dinner at the Coop: FRIED RABBIT

Mom's Fried Rabbit & Gravy
Thanks to April Barkulis for sharing her Mom's recipe.

~ 1 rabbit, cut into serving pieces
~ 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
~ 1/2 tsp salt
~ 1/8 tsp black pepper
~ 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
~ vegetable oil for frying
~ 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
~ 1 1/2 cup milk or chicken broth
~ salt and pepper
~ brown bouquet sauce

In large plastic food-storage bag, combine 1/3 cup flour, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Shake to mix.

Add rabbit pieces. Shake to coat.

In large skillet, heat 1/4 inch of oil over medium-high heat until hot.

Add coated meat and brown on all sides.

Reduce heat and cover tightly. Cook over very low heat until tender, about 20-25 minutes. Turn pieces once.

Remove cover and cook 5 minutes longer to crisp.

Transfer meat to plate lined with paper towels and set aside to keep warm.

Discard all but 3 tablespoons of the oil.

Over medium heat, stir 3 tbsp flour into reserved oil. Blend in milk or broth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Add salt, pepper and brown bouquet sauce to taste.

Serve and Enjoy!

DONT FORGET TO USE THE GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL!

Sorry but you are a bigot, Koolbeachbum

If you want to know why we don't see the MEDIA portrayal of the Indiana plight against the Hurricane Katrina.  Then ask and I will tell what happened.

I have also seen you call people "N-Lover" and a few other choice words.  Its okay to be a BIGOT just not a MISINFORMED BIGOT which you are.

Good Morning Bloggie Peeps!

We will be busy here.  Saenz's wound clean at 10:30, chicken chores, fruit tree watering, goat feeding.  Then off to town to get chicken starter, more fruit trees and hopefully order my grape plants for the fall planting season.  Hubby will start building my trealizes. (sp) Life is beautiful and very calm right now.

I will put of a picture of Saenz's wound 4 days after the scald.  I will also take pictures of my new first aid kit without the splints and stuff.  How is your slice of heaven?

We are expecting temps to reach a new record here of close to a 110.

Guess what hubby and I did?

We picked up seed pods from our 100+ year old mesquite.  Do you think peeps would be interesting in a few of them. This tree is one of the ones of which I have posted pictures.

Saenz is doing really well, on his wound check.  He told the nurse HOW TO DRESS his wound like his mom.  No pain my way when cleaning.  They were impressed.

We sat outside with the kids and watched a heat storm roll away in the distance.  Our creators art is stunning!

How was your slice of heaven today?

What my son's 2nd degree burn looks like.

Photobucket

I just finished cleaning it, re-applying the medication, dressings and bandages. He is no longer allowed to use the microwave at all.  Please be careful, just one bowl of ramen could do this........ Zephyr is the one who knocked the hot bowl onto his brother Saenz's leg.

Good Morning, Peeps!

I am still exhausted from yesterday. Zephyr and I are being really quiet so may Saenz sleep late.  When a person sleeps more healing can be done inside the body; I think its like 75% faster healing in a sleeping state than awake.

I did have to change his wound wrappings last night.  It is hard to get old lady Shartey to sit still for 3 days can you imagine a 10 year old staying still.  I will take pictures when I clean his wound and reaply the silvadine and dressings.

Had a hard time sleeping myself.  You know that "Momma In the Head Talking," kept me up late.  Those --shoulda--coulda--woulda's were on contant loop.  Any way on with the day!

Hope your slice is heaven is gorgeous.

Son is out of ER, 2nd Degree Burn

From spilling hot Ramen noodle soup on his thigh. It was a large burn covering 4% of his body.

Seriously, it could have been worse had I not made him get into cold water, applied cold wet compresses, aloe vera plant and kept it moist and four baby aspirins (could not find the tylenol).  I also watched him for shock; he did show signs of shock:  dilated eyes, pale skin, clammy and he was shaking from pain.

Scared the heck out of me, he was in so much pain and inconsolable.  Shartey will tell you I had her looking up information while I checked my 1st aide kit.  Nothing in there contained burn topical medication except neosporin which was not the right thing cause it was petroleum based.

Once I got him calm, a neighbor to watch my little man; I took him to the ER.  They took us immediately, assessed him, gave him a pain shot, and then clip the blisters and dead skin and applied a silver ointment.

Doctor told me I did a great job holding my son down and remaining calm.  I watched the doctor clean the wound so my son would not be afraid.  I know my child; if I had not of been able to watch the doctor then he would have been super scared.

Then when my husband showed up, paper work cleared; I had my husband take Saenz home.  I immediately went to the local store and purchased an extensive kit for first aide.  The cost of the first aide kit totalled 300 USD.  But, next time I will be ready.

It sucks when you child is in immense pain, out in the middle of no where and you are alone.

I may calm down in a few hours.

You will not believe it!

My chickens were making Oodles of noise running across the front porch.  They spotted a Red Hawk in the air, so I was watching the bird since I would rather keep my biddies alive.  Then I noticed two birds, really small different breeds, chasing the hawk.  Seems the hawk was up to no good and was trying to raid their nests out back in our HUGE oak tree.

I watched the two birds attack the hawk and drive it off.  Mind you the two birds were maybe 7 inches long but went after the hawk like a military aerial assault.

HOW COOL is that!

I LOVE MY LIFE!
