Most Recent Posts WEDDING SONGS IN THE AIR!!!!!Posted May-06-08 15:29:56 PDT MARRY CAREY! Songbird Mariah Carey looked fabulous at the opening of her new movie "Tennessee" which premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival less than 2 weeks ago. She floored folks by announcing she was engaged to actor Nick Cannon. Now friends are stunned, happily stunned, 38 year old Mariah and 27 year old Nick are married and honeymooning at her beach front mansion in the Bahamas! Ring details; Nick reportedly worked closely with Jacob and Co. Jewelers to create a one of a kind ring for Mariah. The platinum ring features a 10 carat emerald cut light pink diamond in the center surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds with 2 half moon diamonds on each side. A whooping total carat count of 17 and a reported cost of 2.5 million! ALAS ALANIS Ryan Reynolds, formerly engaged to Alanis Morrisette, has a brand new gal! New fiance and it girl Scarlett Johansson was wearing a brand new accessory at Monday night's Costume Institute Gala in NYC - a large round white diamond engagement ring! Scarlett's music debut album is due out May 20. She and Ryan have been dating about a year. No ring details here readers but I can tell you Alanis had a 3.75 carat emerald cut diamond with pink and white pave diamonds. BZ All I can say here folks is I know it is 100% true. It is a matter of public record. Beyonce and Jay Z quietly filed a SIGNED marriage license in Scarsdale, New York. I think we're all tired of the hype and they obviously want some privacy. So let's let them have it. No ring details. Honestly, with all this other news breaking, who cares!!!!! Oh, by the way, just in case you're interested, I got married last June and am wearing only a wide gold band :-) Couldn't love it more! Your response to NAUGHTY MILEY!Posted Apr-28-08 17:17:41 PDT WOW! Thank you for all your responses to my posting today. Miley is a hot topic! I LOVE hearing from you.Your advice is great and fun too! I agree with all of you. She should be more dressed and your handbag, sunglasses and one of those great tops would be perfect :-)! I also agree that the whole story is pretty sad and disappointing. I think I first became aware of it at the Oscars. I remember seeing that 15 year old girl in a red Valentino gown, Valentino, thousands and thousands of dollars, a label Nicole Kidman wears. She also had gold and ruby dangling earrings on with bright red lips. As I watched her vamping it up on the red carpet, at first I thought it was funny, then I realized what was wrong with the picture. She was dressed entirely to sophisticated and could be an accident waiting to happen. I think we all hope this will be a wake up call to Miley and all of those who work with her.
I don't know about you but I think Vanity Fair and Annie Leibovitz should call on us for a little direction next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NAUGHTY MILEY!!!Posted Apr-28-08 11:25:58 PDT How many more newspapers am I going to pick up today, how many more TV shows, how many more internet flashes about teenage good girl Miley Cyrus in her semi nude pictures to be in the next issue of "Vanity Fair Magazine"? Is this a real life issue? Yes I suppose it is. What do you think? What does it have to do with jewelry? I'll tell you what! JEWELRY could have made these photos better, not so nude, not so naughty. Picutre this, a sweet sterling silver guitar charm on a chain or a big jade guitar pick on a leather cord hanging down Miss Miley's back? How about that messy Miley hair in a ponytail with some dangling gold and ruby guitar earrings? We can never under estimate the power of jewelry! By the way If you would like your own guitar jewels eBay has a great Marc by Marc Jacobs silver guitar and guitar pick on a chain, item #120251830375 and a pair of gold and ruby guitar earrings, item # 120249720688 plus tons of other things! In the meantime Miley, remember you are an adorable teenager with millions in the bank thanks to Disney and your young fans. Don't take the Lindsey Lane! Lolita you're not. OSCARS Better Late Than NeverPosted Apr-01-08 12:49:07 PDT Hi there all you celeb watchers! I
know I am super late with my Oscar
OSCAR STRIKES GOLD Gold has been an unstoppable trend for the last 3 seasons but finally it made its way to the biggest red carpet event in Hollywood. Nothing can add a glow to the face like gold jewelry on the ears or at the neck. Sorry Bobbi Brown and Estee Lauder!!!! This is an age old celebrity trick. Amy Adams, Jessica Alba, Miley Cyrus and are just a few who picked up on this added perk.
RICH GETS RICHER We saw yellow and pink diamonds last year which I think added a richness and interest to diamond jewelry. This year we witnessed another dimension of richness. Deep gemstones such as rubies, and emeralds were combined with diamonds in earrings, bracelets and cocktail rings. It had a truly regal look. Cate Blanchett had some of the most interesting combinations of this new found richness.
DIAMONDS DE RIGOUR Sparkling clear diamonds of course are always glamorous and present at the Oscars and they were this year although plentiful in most cases not in size! Diamond necklaces have all but disappeared in recent years, so much in fact that the Diamond Information Center asked the beautiful Julianne Moore to host a party a few days before the Oscars in hopes of encouraging the wearing of necklaces.
KARAT TOP Nicole Kidman topped the karat contest last year and I don’t mean her hair!!!!! She did not disappoint this year. Her L’Wren Scott designed necklace was a whopping 1400 Karats!!!!!!!!! I know nothing about the dress she wore; only that it was black. It was ALL about the bling! There were a few show stopper pieces such as the ones worn by Nicole and Cate but otherwise most of the jewelry up and down the red carpet was understated and sparse. I would have to agree with Finola Hughes,
CLUNK-CLUNK-CLUNK I suppose it would not be a complete Oscar wrap without a few clunkers so here goes. v Beautiful, beautiful Julie Christie, there are other way to cover your arms; ditch the pink elbow length gloves. v Mrs. Daniel Day Lewis, were you trying to keep us from gawking at your hunk of a husband by wearing that dizzying dress? v Now Tilda dear, I thought your dress was tres’ chic but the general consensus was that you were wearing a “Hefty Bag”. That’s it for now friends; I will be back in the next 2 weeks with spring trends and a bit more Hollywood news! As always I love to hear your comments!! Hot Holiday Picks and TricksPosted Dec-20-07 14:39:05 PST Updated Dec-21-07 08:37:43 PST OK, OK, I know it’s better to give than to receive but I just haven’t been able to resist the “buy one for me too” policy while shopping for gifts this season! The holiday jewelry trends this year are so exciting who could say no? Not me. Take for example the wonderful vintage Christmas brooches. I found an auction for a lot of 23. They ranged from a bright red bow to a terrier with a jeweled wreath around his neck. I love wearing, eh I mean giving, three or four together. They look fabulous scattered on a lapel, worn on a beret or even on a handbbag: so versatile! Gold jewelry of any kind whether matte or shiny is always a welcomed gift. Gold adds a glow like no other metal to the skin. You always see the celebrities wearing gold. When you’re shopping for gold be sure to buy by the ounce, not the carat. At least be aware of the difference. 14-karat solid and 14-karat hollow gold should not be the same price. If you know anyone that does not have a wide gold cuff yet, it is a must have item!!!! ![]() Big bold cocktail rings are something else I just can’t resist. It’s always up to three for me. What I love about the cocktail ring is that no matter what you’re wearing, you can slip that big ring on with a little lipstick and you’re dressed. What a quick way to get ready for a party. Something personal that’s really fun to give and receive, are identity charms. I love them worn on chains around the neck. I just found a vintage roller skate charm for a friend who roller blades all over South Beach and an I LOVE BROOKLYN for another. I can’t wait to see their faces when they open them. Let’s hope they don’t read this first. Bold and bright earrings are always right for the holiday season. Vivid colored gemstones in ruby red, emerald green or sapphire blue add the perfect sparkle around the face. Lots of luck with your holiday shopping and don’t forget to buy a little something for yourself, you may have to update that that little black dress at the last minute! Speaking of the LBD, here are a few tips that may come in handy. If you’re going for a hip young look:
If you’re going for a more conservative look:
