What a fun time these last few weeks have been at open studio night. Whoever wants to go has been working on a "series" -- any medium, any size, in preparation for a show called "Weeks" coming up later in the month. A local group who's been meeting for many, many weeks will show their work, and those of us who want to can put some work up as well.

Here's one of the BATCs I made this week... the lettering refers to OFFCenter Community Arts Studio. I painted black gesso over the beading substrate, then collaged it and stitched on the beads.

So far I've made 16 different samples for my upcoming BATC and mixed media beadwork classes -- showcasing many (not all...still need to make a couple more) techniques you can use to mix beads with other media: collage, decoupage, image transfers, shrink plastic, polymer clay, paint, stamping, embossing powders, needle felting, fibers, and not to mention the bead stitches, edgings, etc. Whew!
