Glue Trick

Not so much a trick with glue, rather a trick for hiding glue that misbehaves! This won't work for every single flub but it works great for me with paper collage, decoupage projects, and even some work I do altering metals and other mixed media stuff.

Ever had this problem? -- Nevermind, I know you have...

You're gluing something down, and no matter how careful (aka "obsessive") you are, some of that dang glue oozes out the sides and when it dries it's all shiny and detracts from the utter perfection of the piece.

Well, just uncork that bottle of matte medium and paint a wee bit over the glue. No more shine. My favorite brand is Golden matte gel medium (not the super heavy weight stuff, just the regular mixture, perhaps watered down a bit so the brushmarks don't show), but I've noticed the two major hobby store chains in my area now carry only Liquitex.

I'd show you pictures -- but you wouldn't be able to see it! <--hehe. ;-)

Hello, seriousbeader!
Would you like to know the most worthwhile thing I've done this in the month
of June? First of all I found seriousbeader. Then, I sat at my computer reading your Guides and taking a few pages of notes in my personal BEADING notebook (it's VERY new). I've been reading, absorbing, Living In your knowledge and experiences.
I've read many of the eBay Guides since they began to appear but few have been as helpful and even fewer of the Authors have had more than one or two Guides on their subject. You should put all of these guides together and print a book, adding more information as you go along--I'm sure you would have a very successful book on your hands. I know I'd be waiting to buy it!!
I still have more exploring to do and more to check out on your About Me page. And I haven't gone into your store yet!!!! I will regularly check for more Guides written by you, also.
I'm just barely starting in beading. Im not even at the tip of the iceburg--
I've just seen it from a distance thru binoculars--until today's discoveries provided by seriousbeader! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to share your knowledge. I'd already felt frustrated a few times by all that I DON'T know. Reading your guides and some of your blog along with some of the info on your About Me page has been very encouraging.
Again, Thank You very much for willingly sharing. You've been a great help to me today and I'm sure you will be in the future, too, as you share your knowledge, experiences and expertise with those of us who are just starting out. Dianne/794nomore

Just one more thing I must say: I just realized I've been reading your pages (and taking notes) for the past FOUR HOURS!!! So much information---and it's all put down in a way that anyone can understand it. I sometimes find myself looking at a paragraph and saying "Huh? What?? Let me read that again..and again: I'm not sure what that means."
NOT SO WITH YOUR DESCRIPTIONS, EXPLANATIONS and EXAMPLES. Excuse me now: I still have a lot of reading to do!
Thanks again, Dianne/794nomore
