Non-Pay Bidders leave negative feeback for Seller

I really feel that ebay needs to revisit their feedback policies.  I had an auction where the winning bidder did not pay.  While he emailed me several times telling me his brother must have placed the bid, and he offered to buy something else, I had no items for sale at the time and told him that he needed to contact ebay about bid retraction.  That once an auction was closed he was responsible to pay.

Well he didn't and I filed a non-pay bidder dispute and received my FVF.  I also filed a non-pay bidder strike against the buyer.  All this got me was a negative feedback left by him and the destruction of my previous 100% positive feedback.  Feedback has become a joke when sellers have to fear leaving a truthful feedback because they will receive an unfair negative feedback.

How do others feel about this?  Both buyers and sellers comments welcome please.

I totally agree with you. My only negative feedback is from a guy who didn't pay and said that I didn't contact him. However, I used the ebay system so they knew I contacted him, and still I got the negative. If a bidder doesn't pay for an item, then they should not be able to leave feedback at all. It wouldn't solve every situation, but it would cut down on a lot of negative feedback for honest sellers.

THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT CAN NOT BE TRUSTED DID YOU CONTACT EBAY AND TELL THEM THE STORY MAYBE THEY WILL REMOVE IT I AM SORRY THIS HAPPENED TO YOU .DID YOU LOOK UP HIS FEED BACK AND SEE IF HE HAD NEGATIVES ON HIS .HOPE THIS WORKS OUT FOR YOU I THINK EBAY AND PAY PAL DOES NOT KEEP A CLOSE ENOUGH EYE AT WHAT GOES ON. THEY ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN MAKING THERE MONEY LIBERTYBILLIE2543

Oh I completely understand but my situation was opposite.I was the winning bidder on an item and I paid as soon as I won(like I always have done)and almost 2 months went by with no product.I emailed the seller 5 times with no response to any of the emails. All I wanted was an explanation or some common courtesy like I would give.I finally received the item and complemented the item itself but left a negative feedback. The seller then gave me negative feedback and I was(and still am)very upset with that.Things should change I agree!!!!

Well here is our take on it. We have had 11 non paying bidders since April 06. We have never had a say in wheather they get a strike or not, thats eBay. We got our fees back and relisted, if eBay issued a strike so be it. We never left a negative, people change there minds. You left the first neg and got one in return. Just because eBay gave your fees back and even if the buyer got a strike, if they replied to the non payer they have a right to leave feedback. If they were to appeal the strike and get it removed but had never responded to the non payer, they could return feedback. Only Fair!

I posted a comment about an unfair feedback. I wanted to save her the regret of buying something that later was determined to be SMELLY. I tryed to air it out and put perfume but it got worse. It was boxed for sometime and I was airing it out but it did not smell. However, a couple of days I noticed reak and it got worse as the day went on. I tryed to cover it but I think made it worse. I went to nearby Cleaners they said it would be about $60.00 to try to remove the smell. I just decided to give the lady her money and explain to her. But a month later she creeps and puts a negative feedback. I responded you want the coat. I will send it to you smell and all. The replies, that O.K. I already bought one. Then whey is she bothering me? At least she can wear the one she has this one you would be asked to leave anywhere you went. It smelled as it was still alive. My husband said, it smells like it just died. But this lady just would not get it, that I was saving her from regreting in buying something she could not use. I refunded her all her money and a letter that I was sorry. About not able to send something out that was not all wearable, I should of sent it. Then she would of sent a negative I send a smelly coat. The way I look at it I could not of won with her. It honestly did not smell when getting it out of the box. Once it hit the air something went terribly wrong. thanks, for letting me vent. Lisa

Magsblue - I am sorry you feel the way you do. It hurts everyone on ebay when sellers and buyers don't leave honest feedback. It's the only way anyone can know how honest people are in their transactions. As a buyer I'd want to know if a seller has a history of bad transactions - as a seller I'd like to know payment history of my buyers. Non pay bidders cost all of us, both money AND time!

I have filed 2 NPB's and had my fees refunded. Both buyers did not respond to the NPB report, and neither left me feedback, but I left them both negative for obvious reasons. I thought these deadbeat bidders who don't respond can't leave feedback for us sellers who report them. Is this correct?
