Fire PitsPosted Jul-16-07 07:04:13 PDT Updated Jul-27-07 06:50:21 PDT Living in New York City I
often find myself nostalgic for my carefree childhood nights spent camping in
the Adirondacks. Perched over an open fire on
a campsite, my friends and I would roast marshmallows while we relaxed and
enjoyed the warmth and crackles of the great outdoors. With this in mind, I‘ve always known that
when I built my own country patio I would create a sitting area with a fire pit
as the focal point. From cocktails that can be enjoyed around the fire before
moving indoors, to taking in a cool nighttime breeze, fire pits are truly great
for all ages and they have the added bonus of warding off pesky bugs! I spent much of this past 4th of July weekend working on the terrace at my country house, my getaway in upstate New York. And of course, the fire pit is the star. If you don’t want to build your own, there are countless options for readymade ones. Here are some of my favorites! Streamlined and sleek this fire pit would be an elegant addition to anyone’s patio. The aluminum base and granite top make the fire pit easy to maintain and able to resist even the worst weather. Best of all it is multifunctional as it can double as a table. ![]()
This fire pit truly brings back childhood memories. You can use fire wood or some Duraflame logs, either way this is a great take on a traditional campfire pit. For those of you who are working with a small space a metal fire pit and screen like this one is a great option. ![]() This type of steel fire pit is great for those of you looking for a modern take on an old time classic. ![]()
