Most Recent Posts LGBT neighborhood exclusion to community groupPosted Jan-10-08 10:43:00 PST A fellow eBayer was kind enough to point out to me that there was a Community Group called Gayborhood that I was very thankful to join. I am happy that there are community groups to join, but like so many other things, they are not the mainstream "neighborhoods" that you can post to your "eBay My World" - a public self-expression. Until our LGBT community groups are turned into neighborhoods, they will be kept hidden. So given the 1 in 10 rule, I would imagine there are enough people to make up an LGBT neighborhood. They definitely can't use the excuse that there aren't enough people out there, given one of the recent editions is a group of people that make helmets for their pets out of fruit. I'm not kidding - check it out http://neighborhoods.ebay.com/fruit-helmets. So here's something else that's unfortunate about tags (aka labels). I typed in the following terms in the neighborhood search: lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans. Each one came up with 0 results and 0 suggested alternative words except for trans. It had several suggestions. One of them was transgender, which made sense, then I followed through a couple more levels - here is where they went: trans - transgender - sissy - vinyl pants - finally, the audiophiles neighborhood. So if you're LGB - your tag will lead you nowhere, but for the T's, have no fear, there is a neighborhood full of people who are willing to spend absurd amounts of money on speakers because they can truly discern the difference between uber quality and good quality sound. So any supporters of bringing an LGBT neighborhood to the mainstream, please join me, and blog on to the neighborhood suggestion site! M LGBT NeighborhoodPosted Jan-10-08 09:32:23 PST Updated Jan-10-08 09:42:14 PST I need some help petitioning the eBay powers to be to start an LGBT neighborhood. OR, if one already exists, and I haven't seen it yet, please let me know so I can check it out. Thanks y'all! |
